We are a family of four with teenage boys. Poo's cooking school was a highlight of our trip. We were picked up at the meeting place on time and taken to the markets which were amazing! Poo's cooking school in the slums caters for all ages. The receipes are simple and even our two boys who have only done very basic cooking found it easy and was really yum. It is a great way to support many people who are involved in the cooking school while enjoying a side of Bangkok that you would otherwise not see. A must do.

Poo is an absolute delight- clever, engaging, a brilliant teacher and chef. A lovely intimate gathering for smallish groups- well worth venturing into Klong Toey to seek out the experience of buying market produce, and then cooking and (best of all) getting to relax and eat each course in the company of friends and fellow travellers. The proceeds from her book sales etc. go to supporting community development in the surrounding slums of Klong Toey. Check it out!!

We started the trip at the Emporium Service Apartments in a mini bus and headed to the local markets. There we were guided through the wet and dry areas and given explanations about what we were seeing and how various ingredients are used. I have been to local markets many times in Thailand and other Asian countries, this was easily the most informative and fun trip through a market that. I have experienced. A great start to the morning!

Then it was off to the kitchen to put together what we had purchased.

Our menu was Pandana Salad, Tom Kah Gai, and green curry chicken fried rice. The curry paste was made from scratch in a mortar and pestle. These were excellent simplified recipes and they produced excellent results.

Poo and her team are clear and concise in their communication and they work with the diverse group extremely well.

Poo works with the local community and a part of the fee is donated locally. She also has a small range of merchandise for sale (at very reasonable prices) including an excellent Thai cook book.

This is an A+ experience.

We opened our Christmas presents yesterday and discovered invitations to Cook With Poo today, Boxing Day 2012. The visit to the market was an eye-opener, even when you're used to life in Asia, but really informative. They do warn you in advance the market segment is not for the faint-hearted or vegetarians among you, which is sensitive info to give to guests. The time at Poo's kitchen was totally marvellous: Poo is talented, knowledgeable, industrious and unfailingly polite and attentive. The class (we were nine) was fun and time flew by, and the dishes were all easy to accomplish even for inexperienced cooks. And it all tasted great! It was an excellent way to spend time with friends and do a little bit of good at the same time. Poo is a marvel and I am going to look out for her on her England tour in June 2013!
