“City and Countryside Tours”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Spent two days touring with Mr.TJ. What an awesome experience! He was very knowledgable and flexible to take us wherever we wanted to go in Bangkok and the surrounding area. We did the city tour one day, and the floating/railway markets tour the second day. Very comfortable vehicle for the out of Bangkok tour. I will be booking with this company again the next time I go to Bangkok!

“The highlight of our Bangkok holiday!”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

I chose Mr Chob's travel company based on the good reviews from those who have engaged his services. As our children are still relatively young, we wanted a simple half-day tour consisting of the Maeklong Railway Market, a floating market, and an elephant ride. This was a customised programme which was slightly different from his company's packages. We corresponded via emails, and I am pleased to say that Mr Chob is able to tailor a programme to our requirements very quickly and efficiently. His emails also contained useful nuggets of information regarding the places which we will be visiting, and Thai culture, including simple recipes to cook Thai dishes. A guide, Ms Pu Yupaporn, was also assigned to my family, with her contact details given. Just before we left for Bangkok, we corresponded with Ms Pu via email to confirm the details. Very customer oriented indeed.

Ms Pu and her driver arrived punctually at 7am at our hotel on the day of our tour. She immediately made us comfortable with her friendly and enthusiastic approach. She quickly developed a rapport with our children, and they were chattering non-stop throughout our ride out of the city. This was remarkable considering we had to drag them out of bed at 5am! Ms Pu noticed my son was having some throat discomfort and immediately gave him some strepsils. Also, she kept a tight hold on our young daughter when we were visiting the markets, making sure she was safely well within her range. These were the tiny but sincere gestures which made our time with Ms Pu so much enjoyable.

At the Maeklong Railway Market, Ms Pu chose some lovely local fruits for us to savour. It was obvious she was popular with the stall owners as they chatted animatedly with her because the fruits she got us were fresh, plumb and juicy. She even helped pull in the canvas covers before the train arrived. Ms Pu then brought us to a Thai house, and explained the various aspects of Thai life. We bought a couple of quaint souvenirs there, eg, a soup ladle made from coconut husk. At our next stop, the Damern Saduak Floating Market, Ms Pu advised us on the high prices of the goods sold there, and suggested that we needed to bargain if we really wanted something. Again, it was good of her to do so. Our visit to the floating market included a ride on a rowing boat. Unlike the noisy and motorised boats for other tourists, our boat was piloted by hand, which was appreciated. Our boat took us around the commercial areas, where we could purchase food directly off from the other boats, and then to the quieter residential areas. Our tour to the residential areas was an eye-opener, and we saw how ordinary Thais live. I'm glad to say that no other tour companies were doing the same thing, so we had the entire stretch of river all to ourselves, allowing us to take in the full experience. Just before we left for our last stop, Ms Pu bought coconut ice cream and mango rice for us. The elephant ride took place at a farm nearby, which we all enjoyed.

When we were done, we headed back to the city. Despite the traffic jam, we made it back to the hotel punctually at 2pm, as promised by Mr Chob and Ms Pu. Just before we entered our hotel, the children received presents from Ms Pu, which made their day, and their entire holiday.

Overall, this outing with Ms Pu was the highlight of our Bangkok holiday. We were fortunate to be well guided by a very knowledgeable and experienced Ms Pu.

“A very pleasant day out in Kanchanaburi”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

I was recommended to this tour agency by my sister and having read the many good reviews, i decided to engage them for our Kanchanburi day tour. True to their reputation, Mr Chob and Ms Pu who corresponded with me via email on iterinary planning were such patient and nice people. They keep recommending different and varied tours to suit our family age etc.
Our acutal tour guide was Ms AOM and not to mention our driver,Mr Peter, they were such an angel. She contacted me the day before and even leave a note to confirm the date and time of pickup. Though she was only 6 months with Mr Chob, she spoke so well of her boss and colleagues. We saw the floating market, railway market, elephant ride and the beautiful train over the River Kwai. Though the railway market train was delayed for more than half hour,Ms AOM was very patient and even give me tips of how to video the passing train. We particularly like the elephant ride which was really adventurous.
Overall, I would strongly recommend Thai Private Tour to those who want to know more about Bangkok and its surroundings.
Thanks for the wonderful memories.......Ms AOM and Mr Peter...From Saw Kim and family

“Misguided guide”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

I contacted mr. Chob to assist me in putting an itinerary together to see some of the lesser traveled sites and markets in Bangkok. After several emails, an "itinerary" was sent to me with the names of the places I had sent them. No extra detail or additional information was provided by them.
My guide arrived 30 minutes earlier than our scheduled time. Mr. George was friendly and amenable but did not turn out to be much of a guide. We spent a fair amount of time stopping to ask for directions, retracing our steps, or in one case getting off at the wrong stop on a canal boat.
The main skills which were useful to me were as a translator since I do not speak Thai.
The next time I would save my money (2000 baht) and just carry a more detailed phrase book or hire an interpreter and plan the itinerary on my own, which in many ways is what this turned out to be.
