There is little one can fault about this casual dining area in one of the worlds great hotels.

Just do it.

“Excellent Staff, food and views of the River! Perfect!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

The Verandah Restaurant/Café is a “must” visit whether you are staying at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok(which you should be doing as it’s the best hotel by far) or not.
The staff are simply amazing! After your first visit they will remember your preferences! If it happens to be a special occasion/birthday, they might get together and sing you Happy Birthday.
The quality and variety of the menus, Asian and European, are superb whether, breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks or dinner.
The Verandah offers sitting inside(air-condition) or outside with both non-smoking and smoking sections with fantastic views of the bustling Chao Praya River.
It is a beautiful, relaxed and excellent place to spend an hour or two and be pampered by staff that take service to a completely new level and watch the boats go by.

“Service on overkill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

You need a butler? This is the place to go. Mine promised he could get me “anything” I needed. I had my shoes shined. Don’t be fooled by the price and opulence. The place is only as quiet as your neighbours permit.

“The best rooms in Bangkok !!Pity receptionists don't measure up !!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

For the pickiest traveller...this is it! Absolutely flawless rooms...attention to detail, their rooms are out of this world. Their lobby an amazon forest!!!! Their little cafe, garden, brings the best of Parisienne pastries meet the finest Thai food under one roof! They had one down side, being claustrophobic, I know I want a balcony wherever I go... I saw the photos and assumed all rooms come with balconies, executive room definately! It wasn't with a balcony, I had a panic attack at 3:00 am and tried hard to explain to the reception who spoke very little English ,if he could move me to a room with a balcony...and he insisted that I check out, and move my stuff, pay extra to move, yet he came to check on me ,thinking am suicidal, when , desperately am explaining that I need a balcony for fresh air,to know that I can get my body out of the room to feel safe and be able to sleep...:) these were deadfall 2 nights! I know I had a similar situation once in Venice,Italy and was taken care of, given two rooms in middle of the night plus a glass of warm milk and honey to calm me down.and was told they will come anytime I feel uncomfortable, and shouldn't worry about anything!!! ..Mandarin Oriental should have had someone with better English. I even wrote to management with no response. There is definitely no personalized
treatment at the reception... Stayed two nights and decided am not coming back only because of communication issues with staff at reception who should have better language skills. I chose other hotels by the river, which were exceptional in every sense of the word...with balconies, and ...super staff!

“Nice view of the river & Nice food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Since we were staying at Manadrin Oriental Hotrl, we've eaten lunch at the Verandah twice. Predominantly these lazy lunches after a late night out the night before.

Nice views of the river & boats. Everytime we went, there was a beautiful breeze in spite of the hot weather in other places due to the place it's located.

The food is really nice. First time we had the tom yum goong & smoked salmon sandwich. Both were outstanding. The Tom yum was out of this world & perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not too sour, not oily.

The second time we had Arabic Mezze for starters, which was excellent. We had the Burger & roasted snow fish for main course.

The burger was really nice, however the snow fish & spinach were cooked in a lot of butter.

Excellent drinks, coffee, cocktails. Definitely worth visiting.
