I was visiting bangkok for the first time and only planned on staying a couple of nights. I didn't know the city at all and was slightly concerned about how to get around and not being scammed. New siam riverside was absolutely awesome, the staff was extremely helpful from the second I landed while the room and food were very decently priced. They arranged tours of the city for me, and gave me an extremely helpful introduction to the city and prices. What I liked most about New Siam was that it was extremely close to Khaosan road which is always busy and just an awesome place to spend your nights. They have tonnes of bars, live music and awesome street food - absolutely no way you will not have a ball. Finally, they have staff that speak very fluent English which is very helpful specially as they are willing to communicate with the locals on your behalf to get you good deals etc. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff came in to clean and change your sheets daily upon request. I ended up staying a week and all in all had a great experience of Bangkok. I definitely intend on returning to New Siam the next time I am in Bangkok.

Loved the location!
Chao Praya is everywhere, Kao Shan is few blocks away, a serene wat for meditation halfway to Kao San, cheap massage parlors all over as great food...
The hotel itself is a place to sleep.... clean, comfortable but boring rooms, helpful staff, breakfast just OK but served in the riverfront so who cares?

The hotel has nicer river views and a modern reception and lobby...
Unfortunatly the river view with balcony room we had was very worn...
The curtains and walls were marked & stained,
The bathroom shower had low flow,
THE Real issue was the room had small ants....E V E R Y W H E R E.

We had the room sprayed the 2nd day but the ants were back the next day...
On the floors
On the bathroom walls basin...

Worst were the ants in the bed sheets :-(.

The breakfast - free with the oom was pretty poor and we skipped it after the 1st day to enjoy the street food on offer nearby in Rambutteri way...

It s a shame as the staff are nice and the riverside location is pleasant.

Too much $ for what you get = not good value...

Didn't stay at this hotel, only went there for dinner as per our hotel staff recommendation. We asked him for a place to find good classic Thai food: pineapple rice, seafood, pad thai, curries and fresh fruit juice. Was around 400-500 baht for two people. The food was very good and was exactly what we were looking for. The view of the river is beautiful at night, private and romantic during low season (was there in May). Slight mosquito problem, but they were nice enough to bring some bug spray and light a mosquito coil for us. :)

A good place to eat if you're looking for quality Thai food in a more formal setting than hawker stalls.
