Hotel is in a great location, has friendly staff and nice extras like bottled water, shampoo, hairdryer. However, the shower is quite dirty - lots of black stains in the grouting and corners. We only paid $45, so it wasn't too much of an issue. However, if we had paid more I would have requested a refund and gone elsewhere.

The room itself was quiet, comfortable and clean.

Overall we felt quite comfortable at this hotel. While it could be cleaner, it is a decent budget option in this location. However, I definitely wouldn't pay extra for a balcony room if the standard of bathroom cleanliness was the same.

Don't expect 5 star but expect a high standard budget hotel: simple, clean, friendly, small enough to feel personal, good breakfast and a great little pool. Little details like complimentary bottled water each day were appreciated. We chose a riverside deluxe room which I'd highly recommend - huge bed, aircon, small fridge and a balcony overlooking the pool, Chao Phraya river and sunsets! Right next to a river boat stop which takes you everywhere you want to go in Bangkok - and a really comfortable walk from Khao San Road. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Top floor river deluxe room with balcony overlooking the river/pool

This hotel is heaven when returning from less hospitable places. It's clean, quiet (if you are not on the street side), the food is good, breakfast is a dream after Indonesia and the pool keeps the little one happy. The river location is great. The rooms are clean and cosy. And it is just a skip over the road to Rambuttri and Khao San. This place is for grown ups and families not for backpackers unless they need a rest.
Highly recommended.

Travelling with two young children a pool for the afternoon in Bangkok is perfect. We also chose this hotel due to its location as other writes in here. A taxi to the big shopping areas cost you 100-150 bath. We stayed in a triple room with no reel view than to the other rooms, but we didn't stay much in the room and the price was low. Overall we were really happy with our stay here and only met nice and helpful staff.

I have been stayed here many times since it was built in 2006. The hotel is right on the river with a large outdoor decking area and swimming pool where you can have a drink, enjoy a meal and watch the river traffic go by. The staff are very friendly, good food including room service and modern clean rooms. You will have to pay extra for a river view room. There are many good cafes and small bars nearby. The famous Kohsan road area is only ten minutes walk from the hotel. I have checked out numerous guest houses in this area and I believe this is the best value, if you are not on a backpackers budget.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room, as the street front rooms can be a bit noisy from the traffic

I studied abroad in Thailand from December 2011 to January 2012. My professor found this gem hidden inside of the heart of Bangkok. It is located on a beautiful river. Breakfast is complimentary and is buffet-style, and it is outside - right beside the river! The room itself had a great mix of Thai culture with the tourist feel to ease you into the Thai lifestyle. Last but not least, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Their service was over and above what I had expected. I encourage anyone traveling to Bangkok to stay at New Siam Riverside!

The location of the hotel is very good, because it is next to the river and the boattrips starting there. Unfortunately we only got a room on the streetside - cheaper but very loud. The room was clean und the beds were very comfortable. There are only two issues we can critize: We had tiny ants in our room sometimes also in our beds. And the wifi had a very bad connection, although you have to pay for this service. But these two points were not much serious. All in all it can be said that the hotel is ok and offers good value for the price of about 35 Euros per day for two persons in a megacity like bangkok. Booking this hotel one should be conscious that it is a hotel and not a guesthouse, so the "backpacker" feeling and the whole atmosphere isn't the same then in a real guesthouse.

Room Tip: Rooms on the riverfront are quieter but also much more expensive.
