“nice stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

a very good hotel and new to bangkok. good location as over looks the turf club with so much greenery. attached to the sky train statiion makes travel quick. located in line with 4 seasons and grand hyatt hotels. very nicely done up rooms and spacious. great butler service who are very friendly. food at the turf view restaurant is great too but they have something what is called St Regis water which is chargeable but unlimited mineral water in the rooms in available. quite strange for a hotel of this standard. my father in law got a piece of fish in his vegetarian sandwich which was a let down but they made good fro that. over all a good stay if you want to pay the stiff room rent.

This hotel is in a slightly less congested stretch in the middle of Bangkok's premiere shopping and tourist district. Chose to stay here this time and splurge a bit to celebrate my birthday. The BTS is easily accessible from the hotel's second floor and is one stop away from Siam Paragon Shopping Mall and the rest of Bangkok. Zuma has great food and service but their chopsticks are the cheap, disposable, snap-apart kinds that you get splinters in your mouth from. Too nice of a place to be using such terrible chopsticks. The Siam Mary at the lobby bar is absolutely delicious and you get a clear view of the race track/golf course. The swimming pool was very nice and servers were very attentive. The butler service was a nice touch but I think they may have been a bit short handed as it was difficult to get through to them sometimes. Didn't use them aside from a shoeshine, as I'm a relatively self-sufficient traveller, but it was a nice, warm welcome upon arrival and the birthday cake/card was appreciated. I had a view towards the Four Seasons/Hyatt/Central World which I very much enjoyed! Highly recommend this view over the race track/golf course as you don't get the excitement of the city from a patch of grass. Only real downsides were: Switching elevators to go to your room was a bit annoying and watch that first step coming in the hotel... especially, if you're stumbling back late after a late night. Overall, had a great stay and a very memorable birthday!!!

We stayed in the St.Regis in a Metropolitan Suite a week after it opened. Despite the fact that everyone was trying their hardest, the place had some teething issues. I was woken in the middle of the night by a wrongly transferred call, service was confusing in the restaurant and a variety of other issues presented themselves.

I advised the GM, Giles Selves about this, who was most understanding, and offered a free night as compensation. We returned a while later and things had really improved dramatically and have just booked in now for our 3rd and 4th stay.

This hotel really fills a gap that existed in the Bangkok 5 star market. Having stayed at The Oriental (Old World, snooty... really should get over themselves), The Pen (inconvenient location, somewhat aging), Sukhothai (stylish, very thai but showing signs of age, not a great location but not too bad), Metropolitan (was chic and modern but after 12 years is dated, also poorly located) and the Four Seasons (bland, old, not up to the international FS standards) I had been yearning for a modern, cutting edge 5 star option.

This place is it. Clean, up to date, technologically slick, well located, good restaurants, great pool setting, pleasing decor.

Anyway, after 2 years at the peak, looks like a new rival has popped up.... the new Okura Prestige.

Tough business, hotels.

Room Tip: metropolitan suites are MUCH better than the standard rooms. Get an upgrade if you can

The moment we arrived at the hotel the associate greeted us and escorted us to the reception at 12th floor. Check in was smooth and efficient. Room is really spacious and well lighted. Breakfast selection is just normal but the associates makes the difference as they are always attentive. We have no language barrier as all associates that we met speaks good English. Upon departure the bellman reminded us to check on our flight as now they have 2 international airport.
Overall we really enjoyed our stays in Bangkok and at The St Regis Bangkok.

The Hotel is well located, the rooms are fantastic, the food incredible but the service is over the top.
we spend two days there, it was great, when we did the checkout we still had 7 hours to spend in Bangkok, to our surprise, the hotel provided access to the spa area to have a shower before we left to the airport.
We can not afford not to stay here, its worth every cent and more.

Room Tip: have a go at the pool and spa..... the breakfast buffet is worth to have it, every day!

Location is fabulous for those wanting to be active in the City, and an easy trip from the airport via BTS skytrain. I was upgraded to a gorgeous view room for 5 days via my platinum status, enjoyed the complimentary laundry. My butler Nat was there with ice for my room within 2 minutes of my order, and she promptly brought a tea pot at my request. Incredibly, we watched our Giants in their baseball playoff games on TV! And they had all of the Sunday USA football games too. The asst mgrs were always at breakfast to assist with anything desired (George even gathered tour info for us from the concierge). Breakfast was my favorite meal, with an abundance of fresh fruit (papaya/mangoes/and other exotics), wonderful egg white omelettes made to order, fresh carrot juice, and selection of about 8 different freshly made breads, all cereals, numerous pastries. (My rec to mgmt is to have pancake/waffles/french toast made to order rather than premade). Always numerous staff to assist with any desire, and always so friendly and wanting to please. I'm a gym addict, and there was plenty of quality free weights/elip/running machines/bottled water. Pool was not large, but it was intimate and adequate for a smaller boutique hotel. My room was impreccably cleaned, the hotel felt new and fresh. The Platinum gratis cocktail hour is really nice, and could be improved with 1-2 better wines and some lower cal items such as fruit/fresh veggies. Overall, this is a 5 star hotel, you'll feel special and pampered, and I would absolutely stay here on my next visit to Bangkok. St Regis lived up to all my expectations for a memorable experience.

I know Bangkok very well and have stayed at this point in most of the 5+ star hotels. I tend to be a tough judge of hotels. The St. Regis is a relative newcomer to the Bangkok hotel scene. It's location is FLAWLESS as it direct connects to the sky train and is in walking distance to many of Bangkok's most famous shopping malls. This is Excellent as traffic in Bangkok has only gotten worse. The views from the hotel over the "Sports Club"...a green horse track/golf course are absolutely stunning and the sun sets right in front of the hotel every night. The Best rooms face forward and that is what we had. The pool also faces forward.

My room was spotless at all time and my standing wake up call and coffee was delivered promptly every morning I was there. Decorations were beautiful as was the bathroom and the toiletries were nice smelling. Bottled water was plentiful and the Butler was there anytime I called. Foam pillows arrived within 5 minutes and laundry was folded exactly like I had requested.

Breakfast in the mornings was excellent and plentiful....You could order anything you wanted and they would get it for you. They have a more limited space so the buffet looks small however all you need to do is ask and everything appears....We had dinner one night here and the burgers were excellent as was the service....The assistant F&B managers are around and seem to work very hard to ensure that all needs are well met. We would dine here again. Their Sunday Brunch is fantastic and I dined here last time I was in town....Sashimi Maine lobsters and Foi Gras.....oooh yes...anything your heart desires!

This is a strange hotel in the design sense. It was designed as a mix use property....so the first "24" floors are the hotel.... and the next floors to to the top are all condominiums. The piece of land the hotel is built upon seems narrow so they appear to have built up. The entrance lobby has 40+foot ceilings and the lobby is on 12th floor.....So you walk through the downstairs.....there are greeters here at all times then go up to 12th fl. where they have individual check in..Once again high high ceilings white marble, sterile.....so there is no front desk....Coming through two lobbies and often seeing only 3 or 4 staff you almost feel like the hotel is deserted....yet it can be full. This is in contrast to the Shangrila, Oriental, Sheraton Grande Sukumvit where you have heavily staffed front desks who all say hello when you walk by but also have vast lobby spaces and restaurants etc.

This said, the St. Regis service was Excellent and all staff members were helpful and all special needs were met. This IS a 5+ star hotel without a doubt....however I think it takes some getting used to as it is not in the usual "cookie cutter" hotel design.

I will definitely return to the St. Regis in Bangkok, the views out into the city of Bangkok over the green of the golf course watching that sun go down....spectacular.

Room Tip: Get a room facing forward if possible, they have a beautiful open air view of Bangkok.
