Stayed for 4 nights (16-20 May 2013) with AETAS Bangkok. It takes around 8-10 mins of stroll to reach the hotel from the nearest Phloen Chit BTS station, with a 7-11 store located somewhere in the middle of the hotel & BTS station. Though my partner & I were being welcomed by a friendly staff at the check-in counter, we felt disappointed + irritated upon hearing that our reserved room was not yet ready & there was no free upgrade invitation to the next available room. We eventually paid for the available deluxe room cos we were perspiring profusely from the hot weather + 10 mins of stroll & we just want to settle down our luggages ASAP.
We were given the cornered room, upon entering the room, it gave off a stale smell (like as if it has been left emptied for quite some time). We also can't help but noticed that there were residue stains on the ceiling walls due to the condensation of air-conditioners. Nonetheless, the room is spacious, the bed is comfy with soft pillows. We have a soft spot for hotels with open-concept bathrooms & that's 1 of the reason why we chose the stay with AETAS Bangkok. The room came with a bathtub, there were some stains on the tub itself too but it was alright - we cleaned it before using. Throughout our stay here, the room was being tidied up everyday & we really appreciate that.
Breakfast spread was quite standardize, the menu is quite limited but it was alright for my partner & I as we are not fussy eaters.
We are thankful for the complimentary tuk-tuk service that the hotel provides, to ferry us to the nearest Phloen Chit BTS station. Though it was stated that there is no return tuk-tuk trip available, but if you happen to be near the BTS station, are on your way heading back to the hotel & happened to see the hotel tuk-tuk, just hop on it! PS: We saw some hotel guests done that :P
To take note that while the shuttle timings stated 6pm LT is the last tuk-tuk ride, it doesn't mean that you still get to ride the tuk-tuk at 6pm! We were chided by a concierge staff, telling us off that we should be waiting for the tuk-tuk at around 5:45pm because they are signing off from work at 6pm sharp - he emphasized the word "sharp". I'm unsure if there is any miscommunication in the shuttle timings. Despite the chiding, that said concierge staff still bother to give us the ride, though with an unwilling face. We didn't see any of the hotel staff standing-by at the respective work stations (i.e. check-in, concierge etc), in fact, the hotel lobby was quiet & not lively.
The 10 mins of stroll can be a chore if you are returning to the hotel with a big shopping bag/luggage bag. Remember to take the hotel card from the concierge so that you can show the taxi driver the directions (in Thai) back to the hotel, we basically resort to taking taxis when coming back to the hotel. Else, I think the 10 min stroll can be pleasant;) There is also a friendly stall tenant selling fried snacks (i.e. bananas, sweet potatoes & yam) underneath the flight of stairs to Phloen Chit BTS station, we frequent his stall everyday!
Overall a pleasant stay in the hotel with a comfy bed, but my personal opinion is that the customer servicing can be further improved. I won't come back to the hotel again but will make a trip to frequent the snack stall :P
