“Clean but small”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

The room is small. But it's clean. Especially the toilet. One of the cleanest toilet you could expect from any hotels. The small kitchen is very useful for family with kids. The most inconvenient thing is no taxi knows the place. We need to call back to the hotel every time to tell the taxi driver for the exact location.

very hidden away parking is available but on the street we were lucky no car damage, rooms pretty tight and beds hard but clean , would we stay again no, breakfast eggs and ham but very basic maybe we are being a little unkind and need to remember this is very much a budget price hotel, the pictures make this property to appear far grander than in reality it is, the photographer certainly managed to do a very excellent job, the roof garden in the photos looks wonderful, in reality tired not very clean and went for happy hour drink as advertised but no service and no one there we left

Room Tip: maybe choose another hotel, a night mare to find despite good car GPS

This was my second stay at Check Inn, a week each time.

I really like this place for long stays in Bangkok. It is clean and well kept with a pleasant and helpful staff. All of the front desk staff speak at least basic English with others speaking more. The room I stayed in (same room as the first stay - I asked for it) was very clean and well maintained. When I was there the first time, I booked a room with breakfast. I love rice soup with pork and theirs is every good. Their coffee, like almost every other hotel in Thailand, is instant. You get used to it. LOL I didn't book a room with breakfast the second time because I was going to be out and about early and the street food in Chinatown is excellent.

One of the things that makes this hotel great is its location. It is on a soi (alley) half way between what must be two of the busiest streets in Bangkok - Charoenkrung Road and Yaworat Road. The location does wonders to buffer the daytime noise from the streets. I didn't notice much noise at night during either stay. The location is also convenient to both the train and subway stations and the Ratchawong Pier where you can catch the express river boats. Depending on your walking style either is about 15 minutes away.

The neighborhood has some interesting things going on as well. At the corner of the soi and Charoenkrung Road there is a restaurant called the Dim Sum Bakery. Their food (roast duck or barbecued port) was very good though the service was, shall we say, very casual. On Yaworat Road at the other end of the soi, there are some interesting places as well if you turn left. Across the street and down a block or so is the Two Dogs Tea Room. And then there is the gold seller whose shop becomes an ice cream vendor in the evening (the mint is very good).

I'll be back there for my next long stay.

Room Tip: The upper rooms toward the back (Charoenkrung Road side) let in a lot more light.

August 2012. Difficult to find, stuck at the end of an alleyway, off two very busy streets. Front desk staff have problems understanding English. I don't speak Thai. Bed in double room 'hard as floorboards with thin foam on top'. Room was quiet to sleep in at night. Front desk not aware of broken mirror in the room. No hot water and front desk took note but did nothing about it. Kitchen in the room - who wants to cook when on holidays ? Tour brochures at front desk I was told no longer valid. Same tour by the hotel double the price. I declined. Chinatown, I feel is ok for a few hours trip in the day / evening when you are staying somewhere else where there is more of a nightlife, from a single traveller point of view. Chinatown has mainly food stalls and small shops. They do know how to cramp things into small spaces. Felt safe walking alone at night and day. To see anything else is a drive away and tuk tuk drivers will try to rip you off. They say they are Buddhist ! I don't recommend staying in Chinatown or at Check Inn for more than one night if you have to. Communicating in English a problem at a lot of places in Thailand. This very much a problem at Check Inn.

It is located to in Downtown area of Bangkok near the Grand China Princess Hotel. It is a bit far from the Southern Bus

Terminal (SaiTai), it took us good 45mins in the 7am morning Traffic to reach the CIC. It is a good hotel, with all the

things needed in a room. They provide a small kitchen also which is sufficient for 2 people. You have the Indian Market of

Bangkok, where you can find wholesale shops selling TV's & also many Indian restaurants. Also one of the boat pier's is at

a walking distance from where you can a boat to go to Grand Palace or Wat Po or Wat Arun.
The Hotel staff is ok-ok...not very courteous & helpful. Also for my friend, the door to bathroom in their room was broken.
And in my room I noticed there was a big cockroach, hopefully you will get better rooms. Also it is around 45mins drive

away from the Bangkok Airport.
So all & all I would say it is good Hotel if you want to stay near to the Grand Palace area & also price wise it was OK.
