I needed a stopover hotel in Bangkok near the train station. This place suited me fine. The room/bathroom was clean and quiet. I got a wakeup call for 5am no problem. Hard to find as others have said so printout a map beforehand then any local driver can go straight to it.
I didn't have time for drinks on the rooftop bar but wouldn't bother anyway when there is all of bangkok to explore!

Firstly as the name suggests, it is in the Aaron of china town, that itself is a nightmare, busy busy busy. Got lost a few times.
Tuk tuk driver took us to hotel from bBangkok main station, do t pay more than 50 baht.....it's a five min walk once u know where it is.
No view part from dirty buildings....roof top area, pleasant I guess, but. NOt how it looks in the photos....dissapointing.
Room booked was a deluxe double with breakfast. Deluxe by thai standards yes probably.
But as a budget hotel, it served its purpose, bed, shower, kitchenette type thing.
Reception staff where first class, very friendly and helpful, staff on the roof top area, very rude, abrupt.......sat on roof top, no one serving, when we did ask, it was as if the world ended, the lady stomped out and shouted ...yes...what do u want....sadly our choices of beer where not Available.....along with what seems like. Most other things.

Shocking smell of dampness when entering the hotel. It really was awfull....but not in the rooms.
Free wifi which is excellent.

Would I go again?...sadly no....I've stayed in far better and cheaper places in Bangkok, but we wanted to try china town, shave it a go.

Checkinn Chinatown is a budget hotel in a backyard of Chinatown. In effect we hadn’t big problems to find it. The friendly doorman of the Grand China Princess Hotel indicated the small alley to go in. Although the location is a little bit dark, we never felt unsafe. Ratchawong pier for the river boats is in walking distance. Hualamphong Station needs a short taxi ride. Markets, shops, food-stalls are nearby, but consider that you are in Chinatown and all is Chinese style and very busy.
According to the rate of 850 baht per night the room is very well equipped. Nothing was missing. Costs for beer and soft drinks in the fridge were quite convenient. A DVD player can be rent at the reception.
The only downside of this hotel is the housekeeping. On our arrival the rubbish bin in room was full and gave a strange smell. The room was never well cleaned and we got ants and cockroaches. For that reason our final rating is at most three points.

Overall experience was fine, not the best service but for a budget hotel relatively good. Room was clean, double bed as booked, kettle and microwave, mini bar good prices - same as local shops, free WI-FI. Rooftop bar quiet and pleasant but rubbish view - just the scruffy surrounding buildings. Staff were pleasant enough but didn't seam to know what they were doing when we were checking out, they only charged us for the mini bar, and then when we pointed this out they then tried to charge us for 3 nights instead of 2, so just be careful. Breakfast was toast and jams and a coffee - i was quite happy with this.

Only real negative point is the location, it's quite hard to find it, the taxi dropped us off at the wrong hotel to begin with, the best thing to say to taxi drivers or tuk tuks would be take us to the Grand China Princess Hotel in Chinatown as some of them had never heard of check inn china town. We had to walk down a back alley to find Check Inn, and the alley is across the road from the Grand China Princess Hotel. The alley of course has cockroaches running about everywhere, stray animals, thai people washing their pots in the street, but if anything it's an insight into how little these people have.

For £18 a night, you can't complain, like I say room was clean and comfortable and that's the most important thing! We booked via Laterooms.

Poor area but very well priced... Difficult to find and not very well known so take a business card with you for the taxi ride home....

Overall for the price you could never complain... Stay here again which is all that matters in the end

This place is impossible to find!!! It is down a werid little alleyway and has very little signage!! We spent so much on taxis trying to find it that we would have been WAY better off just paying a few hundred baht somewhere else for the same thing but in a better location.

The service was horrible too... our room came with a free breakfast, but the guy didnt tell us when we checked in that we had to pre order it the day before so that it was delivered to our room... when I went down and asked about breakfast in the mroning he was condescending and made me feel like an idiot for not knowing, even though it should have been his responsibility to tell us about it from the start! Also, everywhere else we had been in thailand there had been people there willing to carry bags if needed. This guy offered to carry my handbag and that was about it...

The room was nice though, it was mordern and clean. the shower was broken, and instead of messing around with bothering the staff (i dont think they would have delt well with a complaint!), my boyfriend was smart enough to be able to fix it himself by using a broken razor...

The location was interesting. right by china town, so certainly not in tourist-ville! walkable distance to the MRT and train station. I didnt really like the scene though - i would definitely preferred to be where there were a few more travellers... I think it would have just felt a bit safer. I wouldnt reccomend this hotel - we got it at a cheap price on asiarooms.com - but like i said, I would have hapily paid more for somewhere else... or the same price for something crappyer in a better location.
