“Spotless rooms, good service and value for money”
Reviewed February 18, 2011

There is nothing at all bad about this hotel - quite the opposite, in fact. We found it excellent value for money. We asked the hotel to arrange an airport pick-up which went very smoothly and had a very comfortable trip into town. Check-in went equally smoothly and all the staff we encountered at any given time were extremely helpful and courteous.

Rooms are very clean and comfortable with great views over the city. The pool area is immaculate and was never crowded whenever we visited it. Breakfast was very good, plenty of food and always replenished, so no stinginess, which is great! Again, good service from the attentive staff.

While not in the exact centre of Bangkok, everything is still very accessible from the hotel. Chong Nonsi train station is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and taxis are cheap and easy to get (be sure to get a card from reception with the hotel's address written in Thai just to make things even easier).

All in all, a very comfortable hotel boasting spotless rooms, good service and value for money.

No complaints and great value for money.

About 40 mins from the International airport. Not perfect for central Bangkok,
but much less clausterphobic and a cheap taxi ride away.

I've been coming to Bangkok for years - stayed in all different hotels, from the guest house days of Banglampoo to high end hotels and everything in between. The past several years I've come to enjoy serviced apartments for their spacious and homey feel. I decided to try Anantara Sathorn (formerly Radisson and Sathorn Heritage Hotel) based on the excellent reviews.

The good: The building is almost new and is beautiful. Facilities are great - lovely pool, bar, restaurant, lobby, etc. The rooms look nice too and are spacious enough, even the studio room I had. Service was excellent and people were very friendly.

The bad: Unfortunately the bad all outweighed the good. While the location is reasonably convenient - 10 minute walk to Chong Nonsi, 20 minute walk to the heart of Silom, etc, there is nothing near the apartments, and it feels very isolated. The place felt completely empty when we were there as well. Much worse though, the apartment we had was very poorly laid out and was very awkward, and we both had TERRIBLE sleeps there both nights. The place just didn't feel "right".

For the money, there are much much better apartment hotel options that are much better located and feel much more like "home". I definitely will not be back.

The hotel was beautiful. When you step into the lobby, you will be greet with polite receptionist and nice decorations. I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and it was spacious but the water in the bathtub was green-yellow in colour so we called the person and they said is all right...and it was the location is very near Lek seafood, a 7-11 and macdonalds each takes about 10 mins to walk when i booked it it was really cheap but now it is about 5000+ baht per night just becaused they changed the name. The swimming pool was huge but i did not have the time to go and swim. Will recommend if you are looking for a comfortable stay for a price :)

When I made my reservation, this hotel was called the Radisson Sathorn. When I checked in, it had become the Sathorn Heritage. By the time I'd checked out, its name had changed yet again to the Anantara. Confused? I'm not surprised!
Despite its apparent identity crisis, this is a very nice hotel. I, too, stayed in a one-bedroom suite on a high floor. This was indeed spacious and comfortable. The kitchen area (NB bereft of crockery/cutlery) came in handy and the bathroom was satisfactorily equipped (be careful: the hot water is VERY hot). I made good use of the gym which houses a fine range of equipment in light and airy accommodation.
As has been said here many times already, the staff are unfailingly welcolming and helpful. The service is excellent and the front desk responded very efficiently to all my enquiries.
The strange thing about this hotel was the almost complete absence of guests. I swear I was the only person staying on my floor! Most of the time, the bars and restaurants seemed all but deserted and even the hotel lobby rarely ever had more than a handful of people passing through. All this during what is supposed to be the high season. It was really quite unsettling.
Yes, the hotel is located a little way from the Silom area, although this didn't really bother me. A 10-15 minute walk will get you to BTS Chong Nonsi and lots of shops/restaurants.
In short, I can recommend the Radisson/Sathorn Heritage/Anantara - athough it would do well to settle on a name and stick to it. It is beautifully appointed and the staff are a credit to their employers. A few more guests will give it the atmosphere it somehow seemed to lack.
