“Fantastic accommodation, location is a little inconvenient”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

This hotel is excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, buffet breakfast is excellent and the pool is beautiful. I have stayed in many different hotels in Bangkok and think this was the best value.

The only challenge for some visitors to the city is the location and I think this is down to individual choice. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the Skytrain from the hotel. This is the most effective and pleasant way of travelling through the centre of Bangkok. For me this wasn't a problem.

This hotel is amazing value. We stayed her for one night to break a long haul flight between Sydney and Berlin and regretted not being able to stay longer. We had a double room apartment which was huge and fantastic with children. (The hotel is very well set up for children in general). The standard of the service and facilities was first rate. The hotel design felt contemporary and glamorous without being shiny and bling like so many 5 star hotels. High recommended.

Anantara sathorn is a beautiful hotel - not just by Thai standards but by western standards as well. An for the incredibly reasonable price we paid, there is really nothing I can complain about.
The rooms are enormous, modern and clean. The staff is incredibly accomodating and gracious, and the location - though a bit far from bangkok's major tourist attractions, it is only a short walk to the skytrain which anyway is the most efficient way to get around Bangkok, considering the crazy traffic!!

Ananatara management makes the difference.
Very good check in / check out procedures: efficient and very polite staff (thanks again Khun Alex).
Spacious bedroom with separate living room / dining area.
Huge bathroom with separate bathtub / shower.
Just a couple of things whch can be improved in the room: cleanliness (it's NOT dirty but now being a 5 stars, attention to details must be considered, expecially in the bathroom), and the minibar: why empty?
Wide and well assorted buffet breakfast ready in the early morning. Even in this case, polite and well prepared staff.
The property it's not so close to the skytrain Chong Nonsi station (anyway walking distance), but just in front of the entrance there is a kind of shuttle bus stop (BRT Bus Rapid Transit) which runs back and forth.

This hotel is really top class and value for money. We stayed in a suite which was quality and luxury from the sparkling bathrooms to the roughly 25m pool and included free internet on the TV. The gym was open 24hrs and the breakfast buffet super. Only drawback is its location if you are a mad shopper. It is not close to any markets but only 200ms from the skytrain which will take you where ever you want to shop. There is some street food around but not much. If you like Japanese food there are several restaurants very close to cater to your tastes.

I stayed here with my boyfriend at the beginning and end of our trip to Thailand. We were allocated a suite with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a very spacious kitchen / living room during our first stay but for our stay at the end of our holiday, we were given a much smaller suite - I'm not sure if we were upgraded or downgraded, but don't expect to return to the same kind of suite! Aside from this, the rooms were well furnished and very clean, with drinking water given. Internet is accessed via the TV in what I found was a very awkward method of using a keyboard and the TV remote as a mouse... frustrating at times.

Breakfast was buffet style and of decent variety and quality, but the restaurant was verging on chaos on a few occasions due to the vast numbers of guests and not enough tables to seat them at. Going to breakfast at 10am? Expect to stand in a long queue. We stayed in the restaurant for dinner twice and really enjoyed the food, especially the Thai dishes - it was a totally different experience to the often chaotic breakfast-time.

The hotel's recent name change meant that many tuk tuk / taxi drivers didn't know where it was and we had to be dropped off at the nearby Chong Nonsi Skytrain instead. It is roughly a 10 minute walk away from the hotel, which isn't too terrible. Hopefully with time the drivers get to know where the place is though!

Aside from the problems described above, our stay was a happy and comfortable one and I'd recommend it again as a decent middle-range option for a stay in central Bangkok.

We had a great stay at this hotel. After travelling for 3 months we wanted to pamper ourselves in this hotel. Our expectations were really high, and it was really great!! Beautiful room on the 30st floor, great bed and bathroom. It was perfect in every detail.
And the breakfast...incredible what a choice of the most delicious things!
It's near the skytrain, to the Siam Center and it's a short distance (by cab) from Kao San Road if you want to party!!
Great hotel, and we recommend it to everybody!
