“It's a good choice.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012

We travel through Bangkok a lot and usually stay at the Lebua but after staying there for the last five times we needed a change. I can't see how another review says this is a bad location - it's one of the best location in Bangkok. Close to the major shopping, good eating and the beautiful Limpini Park. There are many beautiful hotels in Bangkok so the difference can come down to dollar value and staff. From the point of value the hotel is excellent value. Also the hotel restaurants, bars and room service pitch prices that are very fair for a five star hotel. Hilton could take a leaf out of the Marriott book at pricing. It's nice to have a drink or a meal at a hotel and not feel like you're getting ripped off (Lebua should take note too, the cheapest bottle of wine in the Breeze Bar Restaurant was a 100U.S.). Now the staff. To put it simply they are top notch. What a pleasure they have been. We needed help with sending some cartons oversees and it got a bit confusing, everybody jumped in to help. The front desk have always been quick and efficient to help with any inquiry. Having breakfast here, at the excellent and extensive buffet has been a delight. Again the staff outstanding. All the floor supervisors (special thank you to Thipwipha who is a real credit to the hotel) have a well drilled team who have an eye for detail and a caring manner. My wife mentioned one morning it was my birthday and when a coffee arrived so did a birthday cake and a rousing chorus of happy birthday from all the staff. The hotel followed up with it's eye for detail by having another birthday cake in out room that night. We stay in a lot of hotels and I've said before, if you want to, you will always find something to complain about. If I mentioned a negative here it would just be nit-picking. Look at what you pay for any services have a realistic expectation and expect it to be met. If it is exceeded as it has been here at the Renaissance you have done well. We are booked in for 11 nights (almost at the end) and glad we did. We did take the upgrade after a few nights in a smaller room and that has proved a good decision. Well done Renaissance. Well done Marriott and a big well done to the fantastic and enthusiastic staff. We wish we could mention you all by name. Great gym, great pool (indoors but opens up), excellent breakfast, great location, good beds - what more can you want.

Room Tip: Larger rooms have less A/C noise and are spacious and well appointed.

We stayed here for one night at the start of a trip around Thailand and we really loved it. from the moment of arrival in the very chic lobby to the moment of departure the service, design and facilities are excellent. Great, friendly staff and very welcoming (nice drink, sweet and cool towel on arrival). It's all low lighting and interior designing and dark wood but done brilliantly. Really, really recommend this place.

Room Tip: Higher the better for the view.

The hotel is located at the middle of the upscale commercial district of Bangkok. There are four malls within 100 meters of the hotel and the Chit Lom Sky Train station is just across. It is truly accessible to all the important places to go within the city. Although there are five hotels also within this area, we decided for Renaissance Bangkok based on the reviews here at Trip Advisor and the price being quoted. Fortunately, we were able to avail of the Marriott Friends and Family Rate and we just paid US$ 140 net per night, not including breakfast. Although our room was the basic, King Deluxe; it was very roomy, around 37sqm; has a 41 inch flat screen TV; and is generally clean. Some people might be alarmed because the separation between the toilet and the main bedroom is glass. However, you can just press a switch for a curtain to close. The service was also very accommodating such that assistance was promptly provided whenever we made a request or inquiry. Furthermore, they allowed us to use the locker and shower room on the day we departed as our flight was leaving at midnight and we had to check out at 2pm. Definitely, our preferred hotel whenever we visit Bangkok! By the way, I suggest you become a Marriott Rewards member (it's free) as you can avail of free wifi.

We stayed here after two amazing nights at Hyatt Regency Hua Hin and was utterly disappointed. It was definitely a modern and clean hotel but provided poor service.
1. We had to call twice before they delivered water to our room.
2. When we called front desk to complain about a smell in our bathroom (which we linked to the sewer), it took three calls and close to 1/2 hour before someone showed up. He quickly rectified the problem by adding water to the drain on the floor by the tub. When front desk called to follow up on the smell; I asked for an explanation as it seems to us by the way housekeeping dealt with the issue; it was a common occurrence. They were unable to provide any comments, only that they didn't know what caused the smell and did not apologize on the issue.
Overall, we didn't feel we got the level of service expected from a 5 star hotel. We would definitely not choose to stay here again.

Nice hotel, good rooms, good service (I am currently in the hotel)
however, the hotel GM is terrible.
Very arrogant, unfriendly and not at all willing to help out.
If I were you, I would go else where. This is Bangkok, you cant afford to not make guests happy (especially elite guests).
I advise staying at the JW Marriott Bangkok (better location, just as luxurious)..
I wont be back.

4 night stay after a month in Nepal so everything seemed very shiny and clean!
On advice from TA members on the Bangkok forum we stayed here and got a fantastic rate for the club suite room (2116). Wow! Great room, really spacious and fabulous views from bed and bathroom. Greeting and check in was friendly and efficient, a roll away bed was organized without any fuss and was in the room by the time we got upstairs. The front desk staff were to be commended, each staff member was really friendly and helpful.
Our room , as I said, was great, it has a contemporary feel and was really well appointed with lovely toiletries and good quality fixtures. The shower was awesome, as was the deep bath. We enjoyed the club lounge for breakfast and drinks and snacks. All staff here were really friendly and helpful too. Good wifi.
Location excellent for the sky train. Very close to shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed a good Thai meal at a restaurant in the mall next door.
Excellent experience.
