“Amazing hotel with paper thin connecting rooms.”
Reviewed October 20, 2011

Amazing hotel, location, and service. The first night we had to switch rooms due to a connecting room which I'm never a big fan. So later in the night we kept hearing foot steps and other random noises. So we ask to be moved to a regular room that's not a connecting room. Overall very very satisfied, love the grand buffet breakfast must stay here AGAIN!

The location of this hotel is great. It is located in front of Chit Lom Station. Easy to access to rest of Bangkok by Sky Train. The Sky Train is easy and very cheap to use. I would not recommend using Airport Express and Sky Train as thought it would be easy to get to hotel. Getting there is not bad but there are way too many stairs at Sky Train stations to be useful. It is cheap at only THB45 for Airport Express.

The staff here are typical of your warm Thai hospitality. Everyone is lovely and very friendly.

The deluxe room I got had king bed. The bathroom is extremely large. It has a stand alone tub and shower with two shower heads and a seat! Very comfortable and bed is really good.

I tried the room service and was delivered promptly. Delicious and pretty good value for hotel prices.

The fitness centre is very modern and well equipped with great workout equipment. The pool is relaxing. It is indoor but open on the sides so quite good.

I highly recommend this property as a top notch hotel but very modern and not too traditional.

Stayed here for 2 nights with family. At check in we were taken to club lounge to continue the formalities, which was a good start. Allocated a corner room on 22nd floor which was large with plenty of room for a rollaway bed for our 6 year old and exceptionally clean with a beautiful large bathroom. All very modern with clean lines and nice decor.
Cub lounge was fantastic with a great ambience and good choice of food and drink, staff were exceptionally nice making us feel very welcome and they always found time to interact with my son which was nice considering how busy they were.
We chose to take breakfast in the main restaurant and it was very good with great choices and a very popular fruit and veg smoothie bar.
Didn't particularly like the pool area on the 23rd floor, I think the hotel would benefit from a proper outdoor pool or sun deck .
Hotel in a good location a few minutes walk from BTS station which gives access to all areas of this vibrant city.
Overall an excellent well appointed exceptionally clean hotel with a great club lounge in a convenient location, only small issue being the lack of outdoor pool/sun deck. If in BKK for a few days then highly recommended.

This hotel only opened last year so I might have expected some teething problems, but everything worked from the elevators to the cappucinos at breakfast. And the freshly squeezed smoothies at breakfast made from a number of fresh fruits and vegies were very special. I had yoghurts every day as well as plenty of variety at breakfast, from miso soup with Japanese food to korean kimchi through to dimsum or eggs benedict. Everything was possible. The pool was excellent, cool but refreshing and definately not busy. Rooms were large comfortable and well appointed from comfortable beds and pillows through to large wardrobes, safes and LCD screens.

Room Tip: I had an entry level room on L12 and I really could not fault it. It had everything I wanted except...

We've stayed at A LOT of Marriott properties throughout the world and this is definitely top on our list. Very trendy, beautiful and at a great location -- BTS is in front of the property and excellent shopping within short walking or tuk-tuk distance. (If you have never ridden a Tuk-Tuk, you owe yourself the experience...better than any rollercoaster rides. PERIOD.)

The staff were all very nice and helpful as well.

We do have one complaint however that is keeping it from a 5-stars rating -- the spa. It's beautiful and well appointed. The reception and post-service with tea is a nice touch. However, we were disappointed with the actual services: we received 3 head/shoulder thai massages and 1 feet/legs massage as part of your room package by 3 different people. When the 3 of us (my wife, my mom and I) compared notes, so to speak, we discovered that the "application" of the 3 head/shoulder massages varied widely to the point that they might as well have been different type of massages entirely. In addition, my wife's was disappointed that the therapist would have skipped the bottom of her feet if she didn't ask for it. Admittedly this is our first exposure to Thai massages but we feel consistency of over quality needs to be addressed.

All in all though, we will definitely return to this hotel if we are ever in Bangkok again.

Really enjoyed my stay and especially with very difficult parent in law- Stylish hotel and impeccable service- Go for the exclusive lounge benefits, really worth it- The only bad point was NO yoghurt at the breakfast- husband had to be very persuasive with a staff to have some- Good location too- 5mn walk to Central Chidlom and station in front of hotel-

Summary: Between the time of booking this hotel till the time of our holiday, it fell from 10th to 15th place on Tripadvisor. I was highly concerned, especially since we were traveling with my parents. My mom has high expectations. Gulp. I want to say straight off that those concerns were unfounded. It is sleek, very comfortable, and has a rather addictive club lounge with superb service. If we were a couple traveling without kids, this would be perfect. As it were, traveling as an extended family with young kids, there were some small niggles. On balance, these were small and wouldn't put me off staying again.

Room:
- We had interconnecting rooms - a big king connected to a superior twin. Both were very comfortable, although the superior twin was a little small.
- Beds and pillows were five star.
- Decor new and tasteful.
- Our safe wasn't working. We didn't bother to get it fixed cos we used the safe in the other room.

Bathroom:
- King room had very spacious bathroom. All the walls are glass though so there is no privacy between toilet, shower and sink area. Screen can be pulled down between bathroom and bedroom.
- No locks, which is not ideal if you are trying to have some uninterrupted bath time without kids barging in on you.
- Marble shower area was very slippery so we requested for a rubber bath mat which was provided straightaway.
- Kids really liked the free-standing bath tub. They also had one in the smaller room.
- Very nice toiletries :)

Club lounge:
- Very nice space with great views.
- Lovely and helpful staff who remember your preferences.
- We asked for late checkout and they gave us 3pm for one room and 6pm for the other! Not sure if this was due to our Platinum status, but still, it was very generous of them. In fact, we were late checking out for the 6pm deadline because of a massive jam getting back to the hotel, but they were very nice about it and didn't charge extra.
- Breakfast was good and the canapés in the evening seemed to get better as each day passed. Loved the fresh juices, chicken tandoori, Thai fish cakes and awesome beef sliders. Mojito wasn't good though.

Location:
- Great! Near BTS train and all the shops.
- Thanks to one reviewer's tip, we missed the steps up to the BTS by taking the lift in Maneeya Center to the 3rd floor which connects to the sky walk. Maneeya Center is to your left as you walk out of the hotel.

Some tips:
- Don't take a taxi during rush hour. If possible, take the BTS, or if not, a tuk tuk which can maneuver through the jam. Jams are massive during that time and a 10 min journey can take more than 1 hour by car.
- Hotel transport is expensive. Take a cab or AOT airport transfer. AOT counters are in the airport. If you are leaving during rush hour, don't rely on catching a cab, book AOT. They need one day advance notice.

Food tips:
- All the food courts in the malls are good. We especially liked the Siam Paragon one. Loved beef noodles from stall 20. Loved durian sticky rice from MBK food court.
- For something a bit pricier but really good, try Taling Pling at Central World.

Shopping tips:
- For ladies clothes which are cheap, trendy and generally good quality, nothing beats wholesale Platinum Mall. Walkable from the hotel, about 15 to 20 mins.
- Chatuchak! Only on weekends. But worth a trip. Or 2. Some ethic bags I saw there were double the price at MBK.

Facilities:
- Pool was small and the area around it, very warm. But water was icy cold. Kids were not fussed though.
- We had free 15 min head and shoulder massage at the spa. Was very good. And I was impressed that they didn't push us toward paying for something.

Room Tip: Some travellers complained of noise. We didn't hear a squeak, but maybe that was because we were...
