“Backpacker Hotel - NOT fancy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

Location excellent on Khao San road, if you are only passing through Bangkok for a few days. I'd imagine you could get bored of location if extended stay. It's in the middle of all the action. Plenty of bars & restaurants.

The hotel itself if quite big, with a swimming pool on the roof. However, due to the location and price, this hotel is pretty much a haunt of backpackers. It was a bit rowdy on a couple of occasion with groups of young guys on hols.

The staff were pretty terrible. Quite unhelpful & indifferent. The restaurant serves free breakfast in the morning. This was a bit of a disaster. The dining area is not a quarter big enough to cope with the capacity of the rather large hotel. So you have people standing around eating standing up. And the food was pretty crummy.

Having said those negatives, for the price & location it'll do for a few nights somewhere kicking in Bangkok.

I made reservation via Agoda at this hotel for 2 night on early July, that was good choice. Located in the Khaosan Road, it was very easy to visit the Grand Palace, just walking distance. Friendly staff. But when we checked in the hotel receptionist asked me to deposit 500bath that i thought it was not stated in the booking from Agoda. But it was ok after explanation from the hotel staff. Good buffet breakfast. Will stay here again.

If you are looking to be apart of the expat Bangkok experience this is the place to stay. Right on kaosan rd, it is ideally placed for all your party needs. Come down the escalator and buy a bucket within 10 seconds. Rooms are clean and safe, with friendly hotel staff and a wicked pool on thereof!

Room Tip: Just get off the plane and go there. Do not book in advance

Quite difficult to find as its in busy koh san rd ,but dont give up. Reception and check in efficient. Rooms in typical Llana style with low beds, very comfortable. Modern bathrooms . Nice rooms. Swimming pool on roof lovely and not too busy. Breakfast we didnt eat till our last day and it was nice. We were sorry afterwards that we hadn't made the effort to get up for breakfast each day. Booked 1 night here but stayed for 3 extra nights a s its a lovely budget hotel.£22 a night and well worth it.Only slight down side we could hear loud music, but didn't stop us sleeping . Would stay here again. Far better than d&d where we stayed last time

Very noisy room so we can not sleep 4 nights all. But it is kaosan! Anyway

The big thing i really feel bad is that.
When i ask to call to other hotel in bangkok, i show the hotel name and telephone number collectly to the front man but he had mistake so he called second time. It was 10bat per 1 call(1 bat is enough for public phone in the road). It was all his fault that called second time but he take 20 bat for 2 call.

If you want to take taxi, DO NOT ASK HOTEL MAN
BECAREFUL THE TOOTHLESS MAN!!

The man who has no tooth help to carry our luggage and take the taxi(even we did not ask).
The man and taxi driver talk to thai language and the man said the taxi rate is 250 bat, not meter.
The toothless man pushed us saying it is not expencive and we can not ignore him because he carried our luggage so we felt thanks.
We give him 20 bat for tip.

But the taxi driver gave him money also!! Maybe 100 bat. There are some connection. He is cheater!

In thailand, thai people think travelers are richer than them so travelers have to help them. Give more money, give many tips, overlook some cheats. They do not shame about it. I felt bad so expecially i am not sure go thailand again.

Stayed here for the first few nights of our sth east Asia holiday. Having been to Bangkok before (khao San rd area) we knew it would be noisy but hey that's all part of the vibe of this area. Nice clean rooms and a wonderful rooftop pool to chill out at. Skip the breakfast option - not worth it! Most of the food was cold and personally don't enjoy spaghetti for breakfast. You can get decent and cheap breakfast anywhere around this area. Music and noise at night is a factor so perhaps ask for a room away from Khao San Rd. we had a lovely stay here and would return.

Stayed in this hotel at the start of our travels around Thailand. Hotel rooms are lovely, and very clean. Request a room at the back of the hotel as it is quite noisy. The hotel is right on the main busy street for backpackers, it is extremely busy and it stinks.. It's where all the bars are located. I recommend going to lumpini park while you are staying in Bangkok. Be careful of the Tuk tuks as they try to scam you into taking you to various places such as suit shops and travel agents before you actually get to your destination. Anyways we stayed in this hotel again after we had done our travelling and I would stay again.

Room Tip: Request a quite room as the ones at the front are extremely noisy.
