This hotel is very difficult to find. And, I learned a key piece of information. If you're going to a teaming city with a high poverty index, do not stay in the central tourist area. In trying to find this place, we were constantly assailed by beggers, vendors, scammers, you name it. The English at the front desk was variable. The bathroom was the smallest of 8 hotels we visited in SE Asia. Had to sit side saddle on the throne. The air conditioner kept up a non-stop conversation all night. Of 8 or so massages offered at the hotel, only the high-priced 2 hour massage was "available". Really. The one bright light was when we entered at 10 am after an all night flight, they let us collapse in our room immediately.

Room Tip: Listen to the air conditioner. If it's noisy, ask for another room.

We stayed her for a night in July and found the place to be a great stay in Bangkok. Most freindliest staff, good food, location is a little ard to find but this ensure a quite night. The Soi it is located on has some nice food and just a short stroll to the famous Khao San Road. Very salubrious location. I would highly reccommend as I have stayed in maybe 50 hotels in and around Bangkok and this one is the best on a 3 star budget looking for 4 star..

Room Tip: The lift is a bit slow so stay on the lower floors and use the stairs..

I'm so glad I stayed here. For a 31 year old solo female traveller looking for somewhere safe, clean, helpful, within a good location and for a budget of £25 per night - this is a great choice!
The staff are welcoming and always on hand and the rooms are clean, air contiditioned, great wi-fi everywhere, and much more. Bathroom was quite tiny but for a quick shower without any insects - it did me just fine.
Breakfast is fresh fruit, toast, eggs and bacon. Refreshing!!
In terms of location, khoa San road - 5 min walk, grand palace 15/20 mins. During my 2 day stay here I've managed to visit Khoa San Road (worth a look but really for the 18-25 year olds wanting to get drunk and rowdy), Grand Place, wat Pho, pakurat (little India), wat Arun and wandered a few streets. I've managed to do all this on foot, express boat and a local bus (safe and helpful). I've tried to avoid the tuk tuks but will give it a go later on in my journey. Point is it's a great place even if your on your own.
Nice seating area in the lobby again with excellent wi fi. There is a PC here but not sure if free to use as I used my iPad. Look confident and you should be ok.

This beauty of a hotel is worthy of high praises! situated in a quiet and safe place in the heart of Bangkok, Sourire is what you may call, your private idaho...the ambiance is so homey..so relaxing you may want to linger a little bit longer before you go out and explore the old and new Bangkok.

Unique Qualities: I believed that a hotel owner's personality and character, reflects the hotel itself and the graciously elegant Kun Souri, who is the owner of this heavenly place has tender loving care for her customers! She knows best that an excellent bed is the foremost priority of a tired traveller..well, i thought i was a royalty when i lay down on it. Rooms are so cozy and very neat...there's hot and cold water in the shower and in the faucet..water's plenty and clean smelling...mineral waters in the room are free...there's medium sized t.v. and ref...beautiful dark wood furnishings...excellent housekeeping indeed...one can really smell the essence of Thailand in the room...lovely! The breakfast that Kun Souri personally served us had complete food pyramid..there you will know how she cares for our health! We are first time travellers in Thailand and will only be staying for a night and a day and we are very cautioned and scared, but Kun Souri made us feel so calm and relax in her lovely place..giving us tips on how to go places by walking/strolling around all the way to majestic temples and the marvelous Grand Palace...riding the famous"tuk-tuk" and the water taxis.. and how to make bargain in the market...she thought us several thai words to be able to communicate with the people. Before we leave in the morning, Kun Souri toured us in her secret garden on the top floor and roof top......i saw paradise...truly! There's beautiful landscape of plantation in there..lovely jacuzzis..of course the amazing view of Bangkok! Awesome...feels like one is in the garden of eden, with the exception of animals,of course. Our stay there was truly amazing...amazing Kun Souri and Sourire @ Rattanakosin Island Hotel...amazing Bangkok...amazing Thailand!

Very clean, spacious room and well located in a small alley (quiet) near Democracy Monument. The staff is very nice and very helpfull...the only BUT is that there is no view from the windows and that Thai music instead of opera during breakfast would be a real plus !
Otherwise we had a wonderful time.

Sourire is tucked away on an alley close to Democracy Monument. You walk through a plant lined corrider to get to the guest house. The lobby is open and attractive with plenty of seating. Oy, one of the women who runs the front desk, greeted us upon our arrival. We stayed there on two different weekends during a stay in Thailand. The first weekend we had a room with a balcony which was convenient for drying clothes. The second weekend we did not have a balcony. The rooms are simple, but lovely with parquet floors, comfortable beds, a desk, a tv, fridge, and wardrobe. The guest house is very clean and cool. The breakfast served is abundant. Eggs, fruit, bread, bacon, coffee or tea, juice were prepared as each of our members came down for breakfast. The staff was very accommodating. Oy gave us good suggestions of where to go that we may have missed. The Golden Mount and taking a tuk tuk passed the Grand Palace and Royal Grounds were beautiful at night. She also suggested the Friday night Flower Market where the street is lined with flowers and fruit. She wrote places to go in Thai so we could give the tuk tuk drivers and gave us an estimate of what the tuk tuk should cost. That was helpful because we could talk the tuk tuk drivers down in cost. Close by Sourire, on the main road are restaurants in full view of Democracy Monument. It was beautiful to eat outdoors at night. We visited here during Songkran and it was convenient to Khao San Road, the craziest place to be during Songkran. The guest house also offers tour packages, arranges taxis to the airport, and has close connections for massage therapy. The cost was amazingly cheap for such a nice room and breakfast.

Room Tip: If you need to wash a few pieces of clothing, ask for a balcony room. You'll be able to dry your...

Like all small hotels in big cities in Asia this was tucked away down an alleyway and there was less outside space than we had hoped. The rooms were a good size and well furnished and this hotel was a good place to use whilst in transit. The real bonus was that my wife was ill when we arrived and for the following day, and the owners transferred us to a large suite in order for her to be even more comfortable. Despite them generally only offering breakfast they made toast at odd times of the day and were generally very kind and helpful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Good side of the City if you are planning to use Thonburi Railway Station which is on the other side of the River. Also not far from Kao San Road but more peaceful.
