“A Pleasant Retreat from Bustling Bangkok”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

So disclosure - my husband really hated Bangkok. We were there for 5 days when really 2 would have sufficed. That said, the hotel was a lovely oasis to retreat from Bangkok. Being near two different train lines (the metro and the SkyTrain) was incredibly useful and meant it was easy enough to get back to the hotel if we were too hot and tired. The hotel provided great service, the breakfast was actually very good and provided us with a nice start to the day. The rooms were smallish, but fine and clean and very comfortable. I'm not at all a "mall person" but it was really nice being next to the mall, especially the fabulous food court they have on the top floor (which was great when we weren't feeling brave enough for street food - no really, it's pretty amazing). All in all, a really good hotel in Bangkok.

I have stayed 3 nights in the hotel. When I arrived, the hotel staff greeted me at the main entrance and introduced touting taxi driver outside the hotel whom he recommended to us. We had took the taxi which brought us to tourist traps. Hotel rooms is not big, however it is clean. When I am leaving the hotel, the bellboy who willingly took our baggage from us to the taxi was given sufficient tips. However, I overheard him commenting on the amount of tips to be too less which I felt it wasn't professional. I will avoid this hotel as there is much better hotel in Bangkok.

Considering what surrounded the hotel, the hotel itself is above average. It was quiet and clean. The staff however is excellent. They were very professional and accommodating. We only stayed in Bangkok for one night and wanted to explore as much as we could. This was a great location for us to do that. A huge mall Terminal 21 was just a few blocks away, maybe 5 mins walking. Had tons of stores and good food. The sky train was right next to the mall and that was something we absolutely loved. We are not used to public transit so once we got the feel of it, it was fun, cheap, easy, and fast. Highly recommend using it. Because of it, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bangkok. We would definitely stay again. Some tips. Public metered taxi was about 300 baht from the airport which includes toll fees. From the hotel a so called metered taxi charged 400 baht.

We enjoyed our stay at the SilQ. The location was decent, quite close to public transit. It's also close to a shopping mall and a few nice Thai restaurants. The room was a good size and very clean.

The staff were quite helpful in providing recommendations for places to eat. They also helped us find an excellent spa within walking distance, where we got a 2 hour thai massage for very cheap. Their breakfast was decent. The staff provided a few a la carte options to choose from.

The stay at SilQ was excellent without any complaints.

- Staff was friendly and very helpful as I had many questions they did not get tired to help out
- Room was more than adequate, clean, spacious enough and quite.
- Location was perfect as not directly on a busy street but within easy walking distance to public transportation and bars and restaurant
- Breakfast was good though simple

Conclussion: I would definitely recommend the SilQ if you enjoy walking to nearby points of interests.

My husband and I stayed at SilQ for the first-leg of our honeymoon in Thailand in October 2012. We absolutely loved the staff, location and rooms, and felt like it was the perfect start to our Thailand adventure before we left for Phuket. There was a pretty serious language barrier in Bangkok, but the SilQ staff was extremely gracious and helpful to accomodate all of our needs. They frequently made recommendations for our daily adventures-- we were so grateful for the advice. They ensured we had a taxi cab (with a reasonable fare) to and from our locations. The room was small but perfect and we loved the bathroom. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had the perfect portions. The bar has a nice selection of beverages but drinks can get a little expensive.

The hotel is in the perfect location for a day at the spa, visiting the bar and club scene which is a few blocks away and shopping. The train station is about 500 feet away making trips to Siam Paragon and other parts of Bangkok easy.

More than anything, the hotel is affordable allowing travelers to indulge in the many tempting offerings of the city. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Bangkok-- perfect combination of modern luxe with some Thai touches throughout. You won't be disappointed!

I booked this hotel after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. However, I felt that hotel to be pretty ordinary. Yes, it is very close to the shopping area and walking distance from the train station. I found cockroach in my room, tough the hotel staff sprayed something but at the end I had to kill the cockroach by myself. The breakfast also was very ordinary. But the hotel staff was very helpfull, as i was new to bangkok.
