“Good accomodation”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

We booked an executive suite and got an upgrade when we arrived.

The hotel and also the suite were very clean and the staff very friendly.

The aircon was too loud and too strong but because we had a two room suit we could turn the aircon in the sleeping room off and got the cold air from the living room. Not perfect but ok.

Other guests seemed to be most business people who might stay there for some time.

We also enjoyed the pool and saw a good equiped fitness center.

The breakfast was good but we ordered once the room service and both meals were so disappointing that we did not order more.

This hotel is located some distance from the main road so there is little road noise.check in and check out worked well. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfasts offered a good variety and were well prepared. The room was large and clean and the cleaning staff did a good job every day of cleaning and refurbishing the toiletries, water, etc. The pool is located on the fourth floor and is quite small and we found the water to be a bit cold. There is morning sun at the pool but no afternoon sun. The wifi was okay but we did have some difficulties so would just give up and try later. The neighbourhood is quiet and there are restaurants and a grocery store in the area. There are no real street markets in the area compared to other parts of Bangkok or further along the major road. It is a short walk to the skytrain or the hotel offers a free shuttle service.

This place was fantastic. Located very close to public transport with the staff happy to take you on free tuk tuk rides up to the end of the street to the main stretch where the supermarket and train network is located nearby. Train travel is inexpensive (air con onboard - imagine that, TFL could take notes!)

Breakfast and dinner in the hotel were very good with plenty of variety. The clientele appears to be mainly corporate/professionals, no riffraff.

The pool area is decent for a city hotel although it remains shaded for the majority of the day due to the structural layout of the building, nevertheless, it is still hot! Sunshine exposure is approx. 10am to 1pm (mid February) at which point it goes behind the building.

Rooms are solid with relatively no noise from room to room or hallway. They are also kept very clean and tidy.

WiFi coverage throughout the building is very good.

I would highly recommend this place to stay whilst in Bangkok. I would say this place most suitable for couples and families with older children (age 7-8+).

This is the third time that I have stayed here since July 2013. Without doubt, the Adelphi Grande is my preferred place to stay in Bangkok. This time I stayed in a one bedroom unit. Expect an outstanding four-star property.

With a kitchenette, washer dryer, and full-sized refrigerator in the room the Adelphi is more a serviced apartment than a hotel, and perfect for a stay of a few days or longer.

The environment within the Adelphi is pleasant. The lobby is welcoming and off to one side there is a sitting area with sofas, a glass table with Japanese and English newspapers, and two desktop computers that are free for guests. During every stay I've been struck by how quiet and peaceful the Adelphi is. The majority of the guests are Japanese tourists or company employees on short term assignment in Bangkok. The Adelphi is located about a five minute walk from Sukhumvit, on Soi 41. The hotel provides a free tuk tuk shuttle during the daytime. The neighborhood is primarily residential. A Tops Supermarket is on the corner of Sukhumvit. The Phrom Phong BTS station is a short walk away and from there you can get to just about anywhere in Bangkok by elevated train. The upscale Emporium Shopping Center is adjacent to the BTS station. If you can handle Thai street food, there's a pretty good selection of simple meals (fried rice, Phad Thai, fried drumsticks, papaya salad, and bbq'ed pork on a skewer) that you can buy from the street stalls on Soi 41 and take back to your room or eat alongside the office workers from the nearby skyscrapers.

I noticed that some of the front desk staff from my last two visits have left the Adelphi. The new crew is very friendly, competent, and service oriented. The maintenance and cleaning staff are pleasant. The Adelphi's senior management is approachable and very attentive to their guest's satisfaction.

In your room, you can stock your refrigerator with beverages, fresh fruits, snacks, cheese, etc. If you want to cook and eat in your room there's a microwave and a stove with overhead fan, pots, pans, cutlery, and glassware as well as a sink with sponge and detergent. There's a washer/dryer combo and an iron and ironing board on request so you can wash and iron your clothing and save on cleaning expenses. You also have the option of using the hotel's cleaning service. My room was on the 15th floor with a great view. The bed was just right. There were 2 wide screen TVs in the room, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. A DVD player is set up under the TV, and the cable channel selection is better than the other Bangkok hotels I've stayed at--BBC, CNN, CNBC, DW, and French, Japanese, Chinese and Thai channels. The wi-fi is excellent, free, and appears to have been upgraded since my last stay. The bathroom was large with a spacious tub and separate shower. A work desk, table with chairs, sofa, in-room safe, powerful air conditioning, and generous closet space are additional amenities that make you feel at home. On the 4th floor, the Adelphi has a nice pool area, an exercise room, and a restaurant. A free buffet breakfast of Japanese, Western, and Thai food was offered with my reservation. The breakfast was good. You can order an omelette with a choice of ingredients.

One area for improvement in the restaurant is the food choices of the lunch, dinner, and room service menu. There are a few Western and Japanese selections but the menus are mostly Thai food. I would like to see the kitchen offer more Western food that spaghetti, burgers, pizza, fish and chips and beefsteak. Perhaps some more Japanese dishes would be welcome as well, although it might be hard to compete with all the Japanese restaurants in the area. BTW, the bartender in the restaurant makes a marvelous Mai Tai.

If you plan to participate extensively in the nightlife on Sukhumvit, you are probably better off staying somewhere between Soi 1 and Soi 19, where there are a slew of hotels with a variety of pricing and quality that are closer to the action. If the nightlife is not a priority and you are looking for a comfortable, quiet, reasonably priced, and fully equipped base from which to explore Bangkok's other attractions, then you cannot do better than the Adelphi Grande.

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best view. I prefer the west-facing rooms. Recommend the 1 bedrooms.

As they say location is everything and by far this is the best thing about this hotel. Located just off the Promh Penh BTS at Soi 41, this quiet hotel is within walking distance to the classy Emporium shopping centre and the hotel tuk tuk will run you up to the main road so its like 2 minutes to walk to the BTS. The BTS will take you straight to the major shopping centres within minutes.
The hotel itself is nice, front entrance is lovely, staff are quite knowledgeable. Our room was a bit tired I thought. The bathroom had a few issues, our shower leaked over the tub and onto the floor regularly and the toilet had a disturbing yellow substance leaking from the side which I only noticed on the last day of our stay. We stayed for 7 nights and used the gym regularly. Its an ok fitness centre but missing pilates mats and fitness balls. The pool area is quite lovely and very clean. The restaurant was very much oriented towards its mainly Japanese clientele, and breakfast was standard fare, and sadly lacking in any kind of atmosphere or ambience. Staff are lovely at the restaurant but it is very sterile and empty feeling. Overall a pretty good hotel in a wonderful location.

We went to Adelphi and where absolutely positive surprised. Nice rooms with everything you need, nice gym, internet, break-first, all things were in very good condition, friendly, tidy, good shape.
For a 4 star house we did not see the reason why it is not 5 star. We went before in some 5 star houses in Bangkok and there is nothing worse in Adelphi at all. If I am strongly searching for bad things, then that the pool is from noon in the shadow.
