I have stayed at Adelphi Suites many times and decided to try the Adelphi Grande for thsi trip to BKK. I arrived to find that my booking was booked for the wrong date. Now this is as much my fault for not double checking the dates as the Compass booking agent who got it wrong. The staff assured me that they could give me the same deal and same rate. I had booked 2 deluxe rooms on the same floor as I was travelling with my mum. I was asked to go over to the computer and cancel the incorrect booking ??? I couldn't get a straight answer on why I had to do this (other reviews show me I have not been alone in this unusual practice). I was asked to wait for 40 mins for the rooms to be prepared and then was given 2 rooms on different floors (no big deal) except when I went to my room I found it was a smoking floor and the whole floor smelled very strongly, I asked to be moved as I had booked non-smoking and was told that there were no other free rooms and I would have to stay there tonight and could only be moved to a smaller twin tomorrow, I was unhappy with this for 2 reasons 1. I am very sensitive to smoke and 2. they should have told me they didnt have non-smoking rooms. After waiting for an hour to get the room its not when you want to find out you have no options other than checking out.
The next day I was moved and after a discussion with the manager a deluxe room was 'found' but I could move in after 4pm (lucky I had shopping to do). As a regular BKK travellor I can say the hotel has good rooms, good location (near BTS) and even a pretty good little resturant (handy on a rainy night when you don't want to venture out) BUT I would say some of the staff need some more experience and coaching to take the level of customer service up.
