Great experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 18, 2011
We stayed at the Adelphi Grande for 3 nights & had a wonderful experience. It's walking distance to the Skytrain & taxi's or tuk tuk's are readily availbe from the hotel. The staff were really great & the meals were good. We had the same service staff for breakfast each day & they knew what we wanted & where we liked to sit after the first day. The only thing I found was the internet was quite slow but I received excellent help from the IT guy.

I have stayed at Adelphi Suites many times and decided to try the Adelphi Grande for thsi trip to BKK. I arrived to find that my booking was booked for the wrong date. Now this is as much my fault for not double checking the dates as the Compass booking agent who got it wrong. The staff assured me that they could give me the same deal and same rate. I had booked 2 deluxe rooms on the same floor as I was travelling with my mum. I was asked to go over to the computer and cancel the incorrect booking ??? I couldn't get a straight answer on why I had to do this (other reviews show me I have not been alone in this unusual practice). I was asked to wait for 40 mins for the rooms to be prepared and then was given 2 rooms on different floors (no big deal) except when I went to my room I found it was a smoking floor and the whole floor smelled very strongly, I asked to be moved as I had booked non-smoking and was told that there were no other free rooms and I would have to stay there tonight and could only be moved to a smaller twin tomorrow, I was unhappy with this for 2 reasons 1. I am very sensitive to smoke and 2. they should have told me they didnt have non-smoking rooms. After waiting for an hour to get the room its not when you want to find out you have no options other than checking out.

The next day I was moved and after a discussion with the manager a deluxe room was 'found' but I could move in after 4pm (lucky I had shopping to do). As a regular BKK travellor I can say the hotel has good rooms, good location (near BTS) and even a pretty good little resturant (handy on a rainy night when you don't want to venture out) BUT I would say some of the staff need some more experience and coaching to take the level of customer service up.

Room tip: A higher floor has a good view and little noise as its traffic is light being at the end of the Soi

Dear Valued guests,

May I take this opportunity to thank you for the message you have raised to my attention on this review regarding your unpleasant experienced upon checked-in. I unreservedly apologize for the confusion of the accommodations reservation period, and the inconvenience caused. As the associate who assist you upon your arrival should have been offering you the assistance to cancel your previous accommodations reservation by required the confirmation code together with your email address and assisted you, and for the room assignment the associate should recheck your preference, should the non-smoking room with king size bed not available the explanation should have been provided together with an alternative for your consideration prior to assign you the room.

By no mean this is an excuse for any of the events but it has highlighted the need for us to review our training and coaching for the associates as this is absolutely not our common practice of servicing our valued customers. However, please rest assured that this is not indicative of our level of service and we apologize profusely for the inconveniences caused to you. Our department heads concerned will address all points mentioned and we will do our best to ensure that situation like these do not reoccur.

Once again, thank you for your kind feedback and comments as it is communication such as this that will help us to improve our services to strive for the highest level of service excellence. We sincerely hope that this experience will not tarnish your impression with us so that we will have an opportunity to serve you again as well as remedy the poor impression created. Thank you very much for your kind attention and understanding.

Sincerely yours,

We arrived much too early since the hotel advertises that you can arrive early subject to availability. There were no vacant rooms, so we asked the staff to call us when a room was ready. A couple of hours later, and still hours before we could claim our reservation, the staff called us and we went back to the hotel. Despite the fact that we actually got in before we were entitled to, we got an upgrade to an executive suite and many apologies for the wait. Very nice.
The rooms were very nice and clean with a great view og Bangkok (and the pool). The kitchen however is apparently just there for show since there were almost no utensils, pots or pans. The bathroom was big, clean and very inviting, but the plumbing was very typical Thai and water was running in places it wasn´t meant to. That is just not good enough for an executive suite at that price.
However - the location, the cleanliness, the very nice staff, the great breakfast and the general nice feel of the place makes me want to come back.

We were two young couples in our lates 20's early 30's traveling to Thailand from San Diego, CA, we booked this hotel after doing a huge research based on opnions of different websites and trip advisor and we were not dissapointed... it is an excellent value for the money. First: Location is great!!! you can get anywhere easily and fast taking the BTS since metro station in only a five minute walk and the hotel has a Tuk Tuk that will take out to the main street in less than 1 minute ride and then you can walk from there 5 minutes to BTS Station. The area is very good many restaurants a super market, many massage business around which we all enjoyed very much, etc. Employees at hotel are very nice and kind, they help you in anyway they can, service is excellent. Overall hotel looks are great it is modern, confortable, not too big, no noise at all since it is in a small street beside big Avenue, pool is great and refreshing, WIFI works great in both common areaas and rooms.
Free breakfast is also wonderful lots of options to start your day, very tasty, good quality.
Rooms... OMG they are super nice, spacious, spotless clean!!! super confortable bed, modern, did I mentioned EXTREMELY CLEAN!! our view from 10th floor was amazing, bathroom is also spacious. The AC works very well, it even has a small kitchen, fridge and a table with two chairs, and a washer / drier (kind of funny to use but works just fine) which are all very convenient.
Pictures in websites do not do this hotel justice, hotel is better in person!
Also front desk provides power converter and adapters (which is super useful)!!!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family, speacially if you are on a budget and want a good value for your money dont look anywhere else... just book this hotel you would not be dissapointed.
Thank you for a great stay (5 nights).

We were 2 adults and a child staying at the Adelphi Grande for 13 nights and we had a very wonderful stay there. The hotel location is not right smack in the middle of things, but easily accessible with the skytrain and also within walking distance of Emporium shopping mall on Sukhumvit, next to Prohm Pong station. The hotel also provide a tuk- tuk to take you to the main road, and City center is only a few stops away on the train. It was good for us as the location was quiet for when we returned home after days out with the little one. Our grande suite on the 17th floor was impeccable, amazing view, all modern facilities;microwave, kettle, 2 flat-screens, fridge/freezer, cutlery (however a bit strange that there's a cooker, but no pots and pans if you actually wanted to COOK)and perfectly cleaned every day. The breakfast buffet was also good, fresh and well prepared food with an adequate choice. Extras included putting a cot in the room, and bringing me a lovely complimentary fruit basket with a card for my birthday.
But the best thing about this hotel was the staff! They were always very polite and very friendly, and there to help if we needed it. We were travelling with a very boisterous toddler, but they seemed unfazed by her; very patient and playful with her when we came trough the lobby or at the buffet restaurant. My only tiny complaint for our stay, was that the wi-fi connection for our room did not work, but then again after not being able to resolve the matter, the hotel did lend me a cord so I could still access the internet.

The Adelphi Grande - Room 1807 was the ideal hotel for us. Tucked down a residential street off the main drag in the Sukhumvit neighborhood, the hotel provided a quiet stay, easy walk to public transit, plenty of things to do and LAUNDRY! After 12 days in China on a group tour with OK accommodations, this hotel really fit our needs and was quite a luxury. I could have stayed longer.

Spacious room was really a little apt with kitchenette, dining area, sitting area with flat screen TV, desk, safe, and large comfortable bed. Bathroom was generous with tub and shower. Kitchen had an all in one washer and dryer which we loved. Instructions are a little confusing but have patience, clean clothes are worth the wait. Marble floors, wood accents created a sleek appearance. Housekeeping kept everything very clean and neat.

Hotel is very well maintained. Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our rate included a hearty breakfast buffet with both Western and Asian options. Bar service and happy hour daily. Nice sized pool and fitness center, computers in lobby for hotel guest use a plus. Taxi service easy to come by but less than ten minute walk gets you to the elevated train that can get you just about anywhere. Dining and shopping are easy to come by as well. On the corner towards the main street is a full-sized grocery store too so you can't beat the convenience or value. Great hotel for couples and families.

Room tip: rooms facing east provide view of train and skyline
