“Fabulous stay with minimal fuss”
Reviewed March 14, 2011

Stayed in this wonderful gem of a serviced apartment from 9th March to 13th March 2011.

The room we had was beautifully clean and spacious which was no doubt value for money. Throughout the duration of our stay, the staff from the front desk right down to the concierge and security guards had nothing but warm greetings and smiles for us on a daily basis.

The location of the place is not the best but it's not very inconvenient either. Located within a 7 to 10mins walk to a nearby BTS station, it makes for a little exercise in and out of the place. Besides, if you are a little too lazy to take a short walk, a tuk-tuk service is provided for you to the main street where you are just a few steps away from the BTS station.

It's highly recommended for one to stay at this wonderful accommodation to really experience what it is like.

Cheers!

Loved many things about this hotel - clean, immaculate and well furnished rooms, great breakfasts and restaurant, excellent gym and pool, convenient location.
Unfortunately there is a major problem with the positioning of the aircon unit directly above the bed which results in arctic air blowing unpleasantly onto your face at night. No matter the positioning of the vents or the temperature setting this created a major health problemin in terms of sinusitus and made for a very uncomfortable 7 night stay.

Very pleased with our stay at Adelphi Grande Hotel in Bangkok. Great location very close to the BTS station, which is the best way to get around. We didn't really see many restaurants or shopping within walking distance, but it wasn't really a problem. Spacious, modern and clean rooms (ours had a washer/dryer which was handy!). Very helpful staff who were so polite and willing to help in whatever way they could. Great contintental breakfast with hot items ranging from eggs, french toast, noodles, and soup to cold items of fruit, pastries, and salad. I personally looked forward to breakfast every morning! Two computers in the lobby with free internet access. The pool area was small but sufficient and nicely decorated. We used the pool each day because it was so nice to come back after a long, hot day of sightseeing and cool off in the water. Gym facillity was nice as well. Overall, very pleased with our stay and it was such a great value for the money!! Would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

Dear Valued guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback on the tripadvisor review. We are delighted to see that you enjoyed, and had a wonderful time while you were staying with us, especially with our breakfast. Apart from this, please accept our sincere apologize that we fail to provide you the information about the restaurants and shopping venue near by. As actually there are restaurants and big shopping mall call Emporium which you may find almost everything there located within walking distance.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your kind comments and feedback as it will help us to improve our facilities and service. We hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome and serve you again at Adelphi Grande.

I love this hotel and plan to return in late May for another visit. Nice rooms, outstanding staff from Management to Housekeeping, and a nice location close to the BTS skytrain. Heck even a Tops market and the Millennium Shopping Mall close by. Excellent staff and very accommodating. The only thing I would like to see the pool hours extended so that you can go for a late night swim should you be so inclined.
Originally booked to stay from Feb 16 to March 2nd. Change of plans went to Phuket for a week and extended my stay in Thailand for another week. You would think that this would be a win win for all parties involved but no, nothing but problems with Expedia. I fought with Expedia to get a refund for the second week of the stay, Hotel Mgmt sent no fewer than 6 emails to resolve the issue and I was issued a refund, which i promptly used to book with the Hotel directly. I even got the same discount I would have received had I booked online. I choose the hotel because of the reviews and Management responses to the reviews and thank goodness that did. Thank you Management for going to bat for me and helping me resolve the issue, I am sorry that Expedia is such a pain to deal with and I truly appreciate the effort put into it.

When you're booking a hotel in a place you've never been, that has so many potential places to stay and areas that you're really not familiar with, it can be daunting. There are online reviews in places like this one, but you never really know who's written them or what perspective they're writing from. So, there's always a bit of anxiety about exactly what you'll find when you finally arrive, particularly when you're trending toward the lower price ranges on your choice in an effort to save money.

Let me say that from the perspective of a traveling family who's stayed in everything from the most frightening backpacker hotels to some top notch places (most recently the Disney Hollywood Hotel in Hong Kong) that Adelphi Greande will NOT disappoint.

There is security at the front gate, we were met by 2 friendly bell hops, the front desk personnel speak excellent English and were helpful and quick with check in.

We were thrilled to find a very clean spacious room with a full kitchenette, a washer/dryer for clothes, a 2 head shower, granite counter tops, a large stocked fridge with reasonably priced beer and drinks, a plate of fresh fruit was brought to the room for us, there were 3 bottles of complimentary water. WiFi was included--though not great reception at the regular desk in our room it is much better close to the room door. The bed was huge, comfortable and there were extra pillows.

The art work and decor were very classy. The breakfast that was included with our room was a huge full buffet including cooked to order omelets that were just outstanding--and I am very critical of how eggs are cooked. There was copious properly cooked American style bacon, several fresh juices, fruits and a ton of typical Western style breakfast food. But there was also very typical Thai/Asian breakfast choices offered. We did have to pay for one child buffet since only 2 people per room are included--that set us back a while US$5! We felt it was a steal.

The location is OK, I think that depending upon your plans you might find a place better located, but really Bangkok is so big that there's a good chance you're destination is going to be far away from your hotel wherever you stay. The hotel provides a Tuk-tuk to take you to the main street where you're only about 2 blocks from the Sky Train station which can get you to other major connections in the city. Ultimately we found that usually a taxi was the best choice for getting home at night and usually only cost about US$6-7 from even the furthest away locations in the city. With the 5 of us traveling together it was not much more than taking the sky train + a bus or water taxi.

Our children were comfortable, the service was great, the rooms were nice and we couldn't be more thrilled with this choice as a place to stay.

This was the third time I had stayed at the Adelphi Grande. The first two visits went well, consistent with the generally favorable reviews that this hotel receives. My third visit, initially at least, was a little different.
The fourth floor of the Adelphi Grande is a "public" floor. The restaurant, fitness center and swimming pool are on this floor. There are also a few guest rooms. On arrival, I was given one of these, room 403. Room 403 is next to room 402, which is next to the fitness center. Both rooms are across a corridor from the restaurant. The floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows of room 403 are overlooked by the restaurant terrace. Given the lack of privacy, exposure to noise nuisance and impaired security of such a room, I requested and was given another room. From then on all was well, as on my previous visits.
However I still have a concern, which is this: Are guests ever put in one of these bad rooms and refused a change to a better room?
If you stay at the Adelphi Grande you will probably enjoy your stay; but be a little wary, there may be a chance that your experience will be less than satisfactory.

Dear Valued guest,

May we take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback and comments which you have raised to our attention on this review. I was truly disappointed to learn about your recent experience at our property. I unreservedly apologize for the unpleasant incident as well as the inconvenience which caused you as we fail to check your room preference before assigned you the room. However, I agreed that the room you mentioned is a little bit lack of privacy due to the location, in order to create the privacy we have considered to place the flowerpots to block the people from walking pass by the room on the balcony side. I am confident that the associate who assisted you with the room relocation would have noted your room preference on your profile.

Once again we apologize profusely for the inconvenience and unpleasant incident. We sincerely hope that this experience will not tarnish your impression with us, and that we will have the opportunity to welcome and serve you again at Adelphi Grande.

Yours sincerely,
