Location couldnt be better but do not use their travel tours

Review of Sawasdee House
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 13, 2013
The price is right- the rooms were clean, the a/c worked, the restaurant and bar downstairs is always hopping. Don't listen to the complaints on here- if you don't plan to spend much time in your room, this is a fantastic joint. Wifi wasn't great, and our room never got cleaned in the three days we were there but that were our only complaints about the hotel itself. SO convenient. Food downstairs rocked. Papaya shake- must have.

DO NOT however, book a tour with the travel company in the hotel lobby. (Sawasdee House Travel) Our bus was almost forty minutes late picking us up (When I told reception, they were not surprised and said they were always a half an hour late). Then we crammed into a super hot van and we spent at least 4 hours of the day driving. (When I say crammed, I mean four people had to sit on top of each other in the back). We did the floating villages and the tiger temple, and several people commented that they would not reccomend this tour to friends, and wish they hadn't done it. We did not learn ANYTHING about thailand during this tour, there was no information from the driver/guide. I would suggest going by yourself to do these places, and you will have the same experience, if not better. Sawadsee Travel sucks.

We arrived early (6 am) and the official check-in time was 1 p.m, but we got our room immediately which was very nice! The room was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room was a bit dark though since there were no windows in the room and no ceiling lamp. The only window was in the bathroom and was open without glass so insects could easily get into our hotel room. The location was very nice, I can highly recommend the Rambuttri area to anyone visiting Bangkok. The restaurant/bar (Sawasdee Terrace) connected to the hotel is so nice, you can sit and relax there for hours!

Most unfriendly staff i ever encountered! Rooms were not very clean, and did not look like the pictures on the site where i booked at all.. The rooms to me are not the most important, i am however not happy with the way the staff treated me, very very rude! Beacause of the location people will come here anyway and they obviously know that here.. I, for one will never come back.

I booked this hotel to relax and take shower just before catching my bus at 9 pm.  So, I stayed here just 6 hours. The hotel is in the middle of everything. this may be an advantage for those who likes Khao San area. The room was very small and basic. If you won't have any time at the room except sleeping, then it may be OK, but if you want to relax and have time at room, so this hotel is not for you.

We stayed in this place for 1 night before heading home after lovely holiday in Southern Thailand on the islands. We got a nice Double Room Superior since all the other rooms were taken already. The price quality ratio was really good i think!
Staff in reception was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, bed was big and comfortable -and bathroom also spotless with cute, funny, little open windows to the street. Those open windows might bring some noise inside of course, but it didn't bother us at all. The street below is not so busy as everything else nearby, so in a way here you got a good, almost little hideaway place right next to the hectic and grazy Khaosan Road . Also the restaurant below seemed relaxed and nice place to just hang out -we had only breakfast there which was ok. But actually it's always best to eat on the street in Bangkok, cheep and good!

Great atmosphere in this hotel right off the strip of Koh San Road. Go to the the end of Koh San Road and take a right then your first left. Walk down less than 2 minutes and Sawasdee awaits. It has a cool chill lounge/restaurant area with good food. Not great, but pretty dam good for Bangkok. You will get a decent sleep here as its just off the main strip where everyone is dumped into the ultimate party of your life. It's loud and I would avoid staying on the main strip unless you know what you are getting into. Rates are good. (Like $15 bucks a night w/ aircon) Get the aircon if you just k]landed in Bangkok from Canada. It's a big switch for the climate. Food is good here at this place and they have a pool table. It's a neat place to meet people from all over the world. We made this place our home base when we travelled for 2 months through Thailand. I would recomend as they have a service there to book you any bus, train, or flight anywhere in Asia.
