Good place to stay, near Khaosan Rd. but not there so no loud noises. The hotel have a good atmosphere..and nice room, not the best room but its lovely. The staff were nice, happy to help if we need tour info, they have internet we can use and near a minimarket which is very good.

My husband and I stayed at Sam Sen Sam three separate times within 3 weeks. The first time we chose Sam Sen Sam based on Trip Advisor reviews, but we returned twice more because we liked the place so much.

The guesthouse is tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac, but still within easy walking distance of restaurants, Thai massage, and Khao San Road (about 10-15 minutes to Khao San.) The rooms are small and simple, but quiet, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast is simple but good, with 4 set options.

The people who work at Sam Sen Sam are very friendly and helpful. Bobby helped us plan out our whole itinerary in Bangkok and gave us good recommendations about restaurants and massage places.

I disagree with an earlier review that said Sam Sen Sam is just trying to make money. Of course they are trying to make money – it’s a business not a charity. Yes, they charge extra for things like laundry, but nothing seemed unreasonable or excessive (and I can’t imagine there are many guesthouses that offer the same services for free.)

By the way, I highly recommend Mai Kaidee’s vegetarian restaurant, about a 5 minute walk from Sam Sen Sam (turn right at Sam Sen Road and walk for a few minutes.) It was our favorite restaurant in Thailand and we aren’t vegetarians (actually my husband is a fairly devoted meat-eater and he still really liked Mai Kaidee’s.)

Overall, we recommend Sam Sen Sam for people who want a clean, quiet place to sleep. It’s not luxurious, but it has all the basics and the staff is very nice.

We recently stayed for 4 nights in Sam Sen Sam, the location is good for trips on the river, it's very easy to get to the old town from here by boat. It's quite near the Khao San Road area, so you can also use all the available services there, while staying away from the crowds. We stayed in one of the "super deluxe" rooms (1.600 Baht), it was very nice to stay in a traditional teak house, the bed was comfortable (firm mattress) and the toilet was ample. They serve a good breakfasts (included in the price) and the staff is very helpful and kind.
The hotel is a bit far from other means of transportation such as the skytrain or the metro, so we had to take some taxis.
In general we were very happy staying in Sam Sen Sam and think it's a great value for the price (you can find cheaper, but hardly better in Bangkok).

The room we had was very small with just a bed and TV but it was comfortable, good air con which was needed in bangkok and the shared bathrooms were spotless. It was set back from the main road which meant it was very quiet and you had a good nights sleep. Very good value hostel which was located 15 mins from koh san road.

I stayed at Sam Sen Sam Place for three nights together with my husband and 19 yr old son. After arriving in Bangkok tired we made our way to our guest house and were really pleased to be met at reception by Bobby with a huge smile and a genuine interest in making us as comfortable as possible. My husband and i stayed in a double room with air con and our son stayed in a twin with fan, both rooms were spotlessly clean, and well furnished. Although the rooms weren`t huge, they had everything we wanted, our double room also had a tv, fridge, and spacious bathroom, there was a bathroom just along the corridor from our sons room. The decor in Sam Sen Sam is fab, it is full of character everywhere you look you will see another little piece of thai art, there are little terraces where you can relax and you never feel as though its busy there as everything is set out so well. The internet access is really quick and reliable and it was great value, we had a snack there one day after returning from a trip to the nearby marker and it was tasty and excellent value for money. The staff were so helpful, they never trying to sell any trips etc, as a few other places in Thailand did during our 3 wk stay, but at Sam Sen Sam they were always there to provide you with their local knowledge, Bobby even took us to the marker on our 2nd day, he wouldn`t even let us pay for the taxi saying he was going there anyway!! he also got us some very good prices for a few things we bought before he left us to explore. The ladies behind the reception desk were so helpful, nothing seemed like too much trouble for them. There was a young girl working there who even took her time to sort out our thai sim card for us and made sure it was working ok, and the owner was never far form sight and ensured that everything was provided to make our stay comfortable, he was a real gentleman.
All in all we feel we couldn`t have stayed in a better guest house for our few nights in Bangkok, the location was perfect, just far away from the hustle and bustle to have good nights sleep but within walking distance of Khao San road, the river boat to go see the Grand Palace and many other attractions, Sam Sen Sam is a little calm haven within Bangkok, spotlessly clean, welcoming and with staff that treat everyone of their customers warmly, if your just passing through for one night or you stay longer they provide excellent quality service at a fair affordable price.

I stayed 7 nights in this hotel. It has plenty of good aspects (great location, near Khao San Rd but in a calm area; clean rooms, good breakfast) but the guys there are only there for business and to make money! Despite the fact we stayed 7 nights we were treated like any 1 night guest. They want you to pay your rooms the soonest and not only after the night, and they make you pay everything. Don't expect a free service or the fact that the hotel helps you in a non lucrative way.
The standard rooms are pretty small (almost no place to put the bags on the ground), so i think it is pretty expensive.
