“Simply Excellent”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is an excellent hotel.

By my standards GBP 100 is expensive, but I wanted somewhere on the river to watch the New Year fireworks. This was a great choice. I had a wonderful river view room on the 26th floor and saw pretty much everything.

The staff here are what helps make the Chatrium a great place, They are courteous, attentive and highly professional. The hotel is right on the river and if you can manage to bag a sun lounger next to the 6th floor pool, you have a great place to spend a few hours looking over the river and the city.

Yes, you are JUST outside the hustle and bustle of the city, but to get into the city you can either take the courtsey boat to Saphan Taksin skytrain station (5 mins) or just hail a cab at the end of the drive.

If I have two minor criticisms is that there appear to be insufficient lifts, which means you can wait a minute or two to get up or down to your room and at breakfast the 'self serve' area could get busy at times, but these are niggles, not deal breakers.

All in all a place to which I would be happy to return (and probably will).

Room Tip: Ask for a riverview room if possible, though I am sure all rooms are excellent.

Chatrium Riverside was an exceptional experience. We traveled to BKK in late November 2012 and stayed in Chatrium during the Loi Krathong festival. Its extremely well located with regular ferries to and fro to the Sathorn pier. We were staying in a 1 bedroom suite on the 19th floor and with breathtaking views of the Chao Phraya river. We also had a private balcony to ourselves. The Suite itself was extremely spacious and clean. There was a small kitchennette where we could cook our own food. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and thoughtful. Unlike most hotels in Thailand, we got unlimited supply of drinking water at no cost. My only grouch with the hotel was the breakfast. There werent many vegetarian options. Infact if i remember correctly, there were only 2 veg dishes that were repeated almost every day in our 3 day stay. More importantly, and this isnt just this hotel experience but my experience in most places that

Room Tip: Take the one bedroom riverfacing suite. Its totally worth it.

We stayed here for 3 nights in December 2012 and I wish it could have been longer!

I think normal check is at 3pm, but we were relieved and grateful when we arrived at 7am (after a 12 hour flight from London) and were immediately checked in/upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom river facing suite on the 18th floor. We could not have asked for a better way to start our holiday in Thailand!

The restaurant right on the river is lovely with an excellent buffet breakfast!

Shuttle boat is convenient and a text into central Bangkok's main attractions will never cost more than 100baht (about £2) and that's including a tip!!

I would reccomend this hotel to anyone looking for an amazing and memorable stay in Bangkok. Just what is needed after a busy day exploring the city and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!

We spent a few days at Chatrium - it is really well located on the river, with free river taxi to the nearby Sathorn pier where one can catch the ferry to Asiatique, or the ferries that travel down to the Palace and Temple areas, or you can switch to Skytrain here to travel around Bangkok.
The Club upgrade offered nicer suites at higher levels, free laundry, and late check out, well worth the extra fee.
Breakfast buffet is amazing! Nice swimming pool and gym on the 4th floor.

We stayed here for 6 nights in December. The room itself was absolutly brilliant 70m2 is a lot :-) Great big balcony overviewing the river Chao Phraya. Since it is Xmas the hotel is fully booked and the elevators are a bit few here. Only 2 for the girst 17 floors makes it a bit slow and you have to wait a while to get up/down. Nice breakfast and a very nice big Pool area with a pool bar as well. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy to find for the Taxi drives and only 35 min to suvarnabhumiairport.

I have been meaning to stay here for some time. This hotel is only four years new but often gets great reviews. I booked for a weekend here in December 2012 with an option for an upgrade on arrival and subject to availability.

The building is quite striking, a modern imposing tower with large glass windows and green frames. Its gardens are pleasant, the buffet plentiful and inviting, the entertainment stylish and laid back. In terms of textiles and furnishings it errs on modern styles with solid fixtures and fittings.

I had the pleasure of meeting with one of the hotel flamboyant stars, Director of rooms Chatchawan Napawan and I found him to be both delightful and convincing. When he suggested that I should take up that upgrade, I did without hesitation. It was a wonderful recommendation as I ended up enjoying a one bedroom suite with private balcony with river views available also from the bedroom.

The upgrade also included access to their club on the 36th floor with free drinks and canapés. I was quite impressed not only with the position of their excellent infinity pool set against against the river and overlooking a perfect sunset but also with their vast breakfast choice and the overall cleanliness of the amenities.

There were also many little touches like, for example, returning from the above club the first evening I found the bed runner had been removed and one side of the sheets folded open with slippers positioned by the bed. Another time the newspaper was left in a re-usable bag discreetly placed on the outside door handle.

The feel in the lobby, as with most of this big hotels, felt a little busy but once I checked in it was very relaxing indeed and the views left an indelible memory in my mind.

This hotel provided a great location for many happy photos and I was not surprised with the number of accolades it has been receiving in recent times.

We stayed at the Chatrium for only one night on 24 November at the start of a tour of Indochina. Having arrived from a long-distance flight, we were very early for check-in. However, after having to wait for only a short while, the very pleasant member of staff at reception told us that, rather than delay us any longer, they had upgraded us to a suite. The suite itself was very large, with double-aspect views over the city and the river, and really nicely furnished. We used the complimentary shuttle boat in the afternoon, which made it easy to get to the Skytrain terminal and explore. Because of really heavy rain that night, we ate in the hotel restaurant, while was also very nice, with live music, if that's your thing. Breakfast was a bit busy in the morning, but there was great choice of food, and staff did their best to cope with the rush. All in all, a wonderful start to our trip.
