This was our very first time in Bangkok and we decided to stay at the Chatrium after reviewing lots of Hotels. We decided on the Chatrium because of its location and also from other reviews it sounded like the sort of place which would suit us.
Well, it was absolutely perfect. We cannot fault one single thing at this Hotel. The room was beautiful on the 29th floor with amazing views over the river and a big balcony. The staff were so helpful and friendly, particularly our dinner waiter "Bobby" and our drinks waiter "Boy". The breakfast buffet was plentiful with great variety as was the dinner buffet. The Al a Carte dinner menu was great also and the food was really nice. We had dinner a couple of nights out by the riverside which was wonderful. The pool was lovely and clean with great views over the river and helpful staff to get you drinks and food. The hotel ferry is fantastic. Its only a couple of minutes to the pier where you can catch the BTS or taxi's into the busy parts of Bangkok. You can also catch ferries upriver from this pier. We got a ferry up to the Grand Palace.
The location of the Chatrium was just perfect for us and the river is so busy it never gets boring just sitting on your balcony watching the passing traffic.
Overall we just loved our stay in Bangkok and this hotel was one of the best we have ever stayed in. It made the trip so much more enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Bangkok, without question.

Lovely hotel we had a suite at start of hotel and it was fab we ended up staying at the same place when we came back to Bangkok at the end. Extremely helpful staff, shop close by for food as rooms have kitchenette.. We paid for river view it was lovely. I also used hairdressers beside it and it was great. Super friendly and clean.. Hotel is a bit out but the view on riverboat it cool and taxi not expensive.

This is a classy hotel set on the banks of the Chaophraya river just a short boat ride away from the main train line which takes you downtown. We spent 4 nights here and the hotel was a lovely sanctuary away from the hussle and bustle, without being isolated. The service was good and the quality of breakfast and dinner was not to be grumbled at, but there prices were too steep to offer anywhere near value for money (even compared to London prices this was over the top). That said, the relaxed atmosphere and the lovely infinity pool overlooking the river helped to push this gripe to the back of my mind. The room was luxurious offering a seperate lounge/kitchen area, a huge shower and a good sized balcony overlooking the river with its awesome sunset.
This hotel is worthy of its rating, however, for some it will lack the lively buzz of the city and is overcharging for drinks and food. If i ever return to Bangkok, as long as it was a short break, i wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Chatium.

This was my first time in Bangkok and I had a great experience staying at the Chatrium. I was nervous about arriving in Bangkok on my own as a solo traveller but all the staff at the Chatrium were really friendly and helpful. You're not allowed to carry your own bag even a few metres, they will do it for you! The staff helped me plan what I was going to do in Bangkok and advised me on the best way to travel around and the best places to visit.

The room was really big and even had a kitchen area. You get complimentary drinking water in the room which is good as you can't drink the tap water. The bed was comfy, there was lots of storage space, dressing gown and slippers were provided. I had a balcony which was really nice to sit out on as I had stunning views of the river and the city. The bathroom was a good size and had a bath and a seperate shower cubicle. The only negative comment I would make is that the bedroom and bathroom hadn't been cleaned to as high a standard as I would expect for this level of hotel. However, I am really fussy and thought it was absolutely fine.

The breakfast is good, service again is excellent. Breakfast is buffet style except for hot drinks which they serve at your table. Lots of choice including western options!

The hotel has a large pool with lots of space to sunbathe. Also a nice poolside bar which serves food and drinks.

Not a great place to use the computers with internet as they overcharge!

Best thing about this hotel is the location - right on the river! The hotel runs a free shuttle boat service down the river to one of the main docks - which makes it very easy to get a boat to wherever you want to go (e.g. the grand palace is just down the river) and also very easy to get the sky train (a fast way to get around the whole city).

There is also a Starbucks right next door which I liked!

Room tip: Go for a river view room!

We stayed for 1 night on a stopover before we went on to travel around the islands of Thailand. We have stayed in Bangkok before so knew the area, the hotel is in a great location right on the Chaophraya riverside. Check in was quick and efficient and we were offered an upgrade from a standard room to a suite for an extra 600 Baht (Aprox £12) which we took. The suite was fab It had a large living/dining area with kitchenette, great large bathroom, bedroom with floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of the great views and a balcony. We were impressed. We liked that they had tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. On closer inspection the room is slightly tired around the edges but the overall feel was great and to be honest we didn't spend that much time in the room anyway. The main things for us was the bed was very comfy and the shower was powerful. We also took advantage of the free shuttle boat over to the other side of the river which takes you directly to the skytrain which is handy. We wanted to visit the Sky bar at the Lebua hotel which you can see from the hotel and the staff we spoke to on reception about the best way to get there were very helpful. All in all we had a good experience at the Chatrium and we found it very good value for money. If we were to visit Bangkok again we would stay there again.
