Room Tip: All are very good, but river side, better view.

Stayed at the Chatrium Suties March 31 to April 2, 2011. It was my first time in Bangkok, and I'm glad I choose to stay here. Set right along the river, it offers a beautiful view, and a bit of respite from the crazy density of Bangkok. I arrived very late at night, so had to take an airport taxi, which took less than half an hour to get there, using the expressways, and no problem finding it. Even though I was checking in at 1:00 AM, the front desk staff and porters were welcoming, energetic, and the porter actually refused to be tipped!

The room was huge, the beds comfortable, and all the needed amenities were there. We were on the 18th floor, overlooking the pool and river, and only briefly could you hear music wafting up from the pool bar on the second night of our stay. Other than that, it was quiet and comfortable with good AC, all leading to good night's sleep.

The highlight for me of Chatrium though was the breakfast buffet. Breakfast is served in the lobby restaurant, behind huge picture windows overlooking a terrace, and leading out to the river. The selection of breakfast items ranged from dim sum and soup, to Scandinavian meats, cheeses and breads, to cereals, pancakes, waffles, eggs, fruit,... the list just went on and on.

The other major plus about this hotel is the free water shuttle to the public transportation system. Using the water taxis got us to the key sites (Grand Palace, Wot Pho, Wot Arun) efficiently and without having to haggle with tuk tuk drivers or taxis, and got us out of the traffic.

Internet is not free at the hotel though, and is quite expensive. If you leave the hotel and head towards the main street (past the 7-11 and Starbucks), and then turn left and head up about half a block, you'll find two internet cafe's that are less than one tenth the price of what the hotel was charging.

Looking back, it was a nice way to ease into Bangkok, and left us with a positive impression of the city. We flew out of Bangkok at the end of our trip, so had another overnight in the city at a different hotel in the Silom area, and, had that been my first exposure to Bangkok, I don't think I would have considered ever going back.

Service excellent, staff friendly, breakfast good, room good size, views are beautiful of the river from floor 18 and higher. Finishes of the hotel room are first class. The only negative is that there were not enough loungers by the pool. Positioning of the hotel excellent.

Room Tip: Floor 18 and higher

I stayed in the grand suite river view room and I was extremely satisfied. The hotel is very nice, clean and everything is just perfect. River view is worth paying the extra charge and it has a very nice view over the river and city. The hotel has a very nice restaurant and included breakfast is just very good. The only negative thing I can say is that there is no free wireless connection in the hotel and it is quite expensive.

Room Tip: I highly recommend everybody to stay in this hotel

Stayed at the Chatrium suites for one night to see some of the sites before flying to Dubai, well situated, quiet but close to all major attractions (via river boat). Would loved to have stayed a bit longer. Hotel is situated over looking the river and the views from the room were fabulous. Would definately recommend eating at the hotel the buffet was one of the best we have had and was served in the restaurant on the ground floor.
Didn't get an opportunity to use the pool but looked great. All in all a great hotel and i would definately return and recommend to friends and family.

Brill place - location just out of Bangkok centre, perfect for our family, but a free taxi boat to a main station on the Sky Train which takes you into the hub of Bangkok in around 10 minutes for under £1. If you travel to the Hotel from the Airport then use the train service on the ground floor in the aiport - 45 Baht, around £1 for a 30 minute journey, clean, airconditioned ride to a Train Station on the Sytrain Route that can take you direct to the dedicated free of charge Chatrium Suites Taxi Boat. Brilliant and Cheap. A taxi is easier and should cost around 500/600 Baht.

Bangkok is great but busy - it appeals to all your senses and the street food is very very good. You can eat for under £1 or pay £100 per head in a top restaurant - the choice is yours. Do a tuk tuk just for the laugh but dont let them fool you into a trip to a tourist trap. Loved the city and loved Chatrium.

This Hotel has a great riverside swimming pool, great buffet breakfast, staff were exceptional from the minute you walk in, or arrive on a tuk tuk as we did !

We had a two bedroom Suite. Good layout with good sized bedrooms and a living room with loads of space, tables, sofas, TV, kitchen, etc...The cooking facilities were not up to much but then you are in one of the best Cities in the world for food so why would you want to cook?

Overall the accommodation was more than adequate and the staff would do anything to make your stay a memorable one
