The price is very reasonable comparing to the facilities and service provided. The big shopping mall is just 10 mins away. They have free shuttle to pier, which is very comfortable for the travellers who travel by taxi boat to avoid traffic. The restaurant offers variety of food and the food is very delicious. I would come back to stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Living in and travelling through this area of Bangkok I have stayed at the Vaboir many times, most recently in December of 2011. For what you get it is good value for a few reasons. If you only need to stay for a night or so in Bangkok and you do not want to go to the tourist areas of Bangkok, you will save a lot of money. The taxi ride to Ladprao 130 will be about half as much as going to Suhkumvit Road (no tolls need be paid to get to Ladprao 130 and it is closer.) Additionally, the hotel itself is most certainly at least 1/3 cheaper than anything comparable in downtown Bangkok. Lastly, while it is not the most leisurely or scenic of sois or roads in Bangkok, it affords one a more authentic view of Thailand. Within a few hundred meters are many good but cheap eating options that again, will be much cheaper than if you are downtown. A restaurant I like very much is directly across the street from the Vaboir. the The Vaboir itself has decent food and a nice eating area outside and inside, though I have found the food to be ordinary for the money. Still, all in all, if you just need to spend a night or so, this area of Bangkok is a good option so long as you do not want to visit or experience the tourist areas of the city.

Room tip: If you are a light sleeper do try to book a room off of the main road.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times. For the price, its a actually worth. Here are the pluses:
1. Security: Full time security guards plus access to elevators is limited
2. Professional staff: This hotel takes pride in customer service. When you walk up, at least 2 people greet you. When they are processing paper work, you are offered a seat. This is true Thai Hospitality.
3. Walking distance to a huge Tesco and Mall (during day)
4. Easy to get to from the main aiport (simply take the City Express train to Hua Mark Station, get off and take a 145 bus going to Vejthani Hospital. The hotel is a few blocks from the hospital).

Negatives:
1. Its not in downtown BKK. If you are a night partying person, this is not it. If you plan to do sight seeing, it will be bus ride (15 minutes) to Hua Mark staton and a City Express train into the city
2. Noise: There is bar on the 1st floor. If you get the side near the bar, you will hear them playing. You can always be asked to be moved.
3. Quiet at night: This is a working/middle class neighborhood. The clubs cater to the Thais and there are few night activities. Hence, use your judgement. I would not be venturing around late cause there are not many people outside. Its a safe neighborhood but the sparseness at night means its wise to be in your room

Room tip: Ask for a room that is not near the side with the bar. If you hate noise, this is a must.

Despite I booked my room on the wrong date, the lady at the reception was professional in solving.

I booked a twin deluxe room. It is very clean. Only thing to fuss about is the slightly dusty floor. It is quite roomy and furnishing is quite ok. Balcony is basically just for smoking since it is filled with hot air from the air con compressor unit.
The cons are basically no free wifi, no safe box, no kettle and low power water heater.

The bar below is really a very good place to chill and listen to good music. Food is average.

Seven-Eleven is about 100m away only and a big shopping mall known as "The Mall" is just a short taxi ride away.Impressively the hotel provides a tuktuk that you can request the bellboy to bring you to main road, Thanon Ladprao, for free.

For really local everyday food, there are many hawker food along Thanon Laprao between soi 101 and 101/1 at night. Ladprao 101/1 is quite a laid back place with a small cafe and a good vietnamese eating place for breakfast or lunch.

If you want to try something very local and away from the central glitz, this is a good place to try.

Room tip: If you are an early sleeper, choose a room that faces the South so that you can avoid hearing the music from the bar below. Anyway the bar stops its music at around 12am.
