I stayed at Sathorn Marriott for 1 night on my way to Koh Samui, I loved it so much i have re-booked it on my return trip.

The staff are extremely polite and helpful, I couldnt fault the room it was clean with a great view of the area, and it had one of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept on, very handy after a long haul flight.

Stayed in the executive suite in June 2012. Room is spacious, with seperate lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. It's has good quality laundry machine and the dryer has ironing cycle mode :-)
Bed is big and spacious, good quality of linen bed.
Toilet, kitchen, furnitures all sparkling clean
Staffs are very polite, greet you everytime you walk in and out the lobby.

The only downside is only if you are traveling back hotel in the morning or afternoon during week day can be very bad traffic jam, but if you dont mind walk, it;s only 5-10 min walk to saladaeng.
the problem with walking is, you have to walk across the pedestrian bridge on sathorn
but over all the areas is very safe with many country embassy in the areas.

Tried the breakfast one morning, it's not the best for bangkok hotel 4-5 star standard. so the next day i didnt have breakfast there but instead i walk to saladaeng for breakfast.
There is a 7/11 opposite the street, so you can stock up for the fridge or kitchen

overall, I will stay again in this hotel when i come back to bangkok next time.

Wi fi is fast.

Room Tip: Upgrade to executive suite if the price is not much diff.

Had a fantastic 4 nights in the Marriott in a recent family holiday in Thailand. Arrived late to find we had been upgraded to a 3 bedroom apt. Check in was very easy which was great with two tired kids. 3 bedroon apartment was huge with 3 large bedrooms all with ensuites and great views. Loved having a laundry to use. Only downside of the apt was the 2 tatty sofa's - very out of keeping with the rest of the apt. Pool deck as great as was the kick boards available for kids to use. Made little use of the kids room. Staff were very helpful and friendly though could have offered more tour/activities suggestions. Easy walk to subway, train and shops. Hawker stalls just up the road was great for a light meal. Will be back to the Marriott - best nights sleep on soft beds with great pillows.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip.

Rooms are huge and comes with a kitchenette and living room. The staff does an excellent keeping the rooms clean and nice. Rates are also very reasonable and is probably lower than that of other 4 star hotels.

Location is great for those who are working in the Sathorn area but traffic conditions here are very bad and most taxi drivers will refuse to go to this hotel during peak traffic hours. The nearest train station will be about 25mins walk away and there's not much to do here at night.

Nonetheless, an excellent choice if you're here for business and your office is nearby.

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment for a business trip. Location for me was perfect, just 10 minutes walk to the office. Staff were extremely courteous and friendly. I had room service dinner which was very tasty. Breakfast offered many choices. Gym was also good. I will definitely stay again.

I'm a road warrior for business, staying 100-200 nights per year in hotels, typically Hilton or Marriott affiliates.

I spent 20 nights here over the course of two visits, and can't gush more about how well-run, well-designed, and well-prepared this property is for the expat traveler in Bangkok on business. Even by full-service Marriott or Renaissance standards, and what I look for as a business traveler, this hotel is the best of the best (with the only exception being that it doesn't have a concierge lounge).

The outdoor saltwater pool (on the fifth floor) is quiet and well-appointed, and the views from higher floors are stunning. The restaurant serves up a wonderful buffet breakfast, and is open later at night than other nearby restaurants (only the street vendors down south are open later).

Spotlessly clean, modern, upscale business-class hotel decor and appointments, comfortable bed, free bottled water daily. If you're a tourist - well, it's in the financial district, not the tourist district, but I still chose to stay for a short vacation after work was done, and took Bangkok's cheap taxis and tuk-tuks instead of chancing it somewhere else. (Taxi: ~300 Baht to Chatuchak market on the other side of town, and just a hair more to either airport. Just don't ask for a flat rate - make sure they turn on the meter. Several taxi and tuk-tuk drivers tried to grossly overcharge me with flat rates - so I'd stick to the taxi with meter running if you're not "in the know".)

If you talk to the concierge, they'll be happy to steer you to the upper class cuisine nearby. I, however, like exploring the local culture, so if you're brave (and maybe just a bit foolhardy), I have some suggestions...

Walk south on Sathorn Soi (go left out of the entrance to the hotel), and you will really step into the local culture about 500m down the street. As you go exploring, you'll pass:

. The most expensive massage parlor I saw in Bangkok (400 baht an hour - which is really very steep, ask the concierge for alternatives the other direction)

. A local coffee shed that played substitute for my daily Starbucks latte (40 Baht for a latte to go, recommended) -- there is also a decent coffee shop next door to the Shell station, next to the hotel.

. An open air sports bar (at night) with Chiang, Leo and other local beers on tap, and terrific local ambience -- you can catch the soccer games here

. A 1-city-block enclosed street market on the right side - primarily for food, both uncooked (to take back to your suite) and street-vendor prepared.

There are lots of street food vendors down there, and they're always busy. Be safe, but be sure to see how the locals eat. (Consider taking a plate, spoon and fork from the hotel -- I felt safe with a broader array of food when I had my own place setting. Some use plastic bags, which is another viable option.)

There is also a convenience mart, and more -- I'll leave it to you to go exploring.

The Bangkok Metro station is a hike, but it is within reach if you're a walker (about a mile east where Sathorn Boulevard intersects with the elevated highway). Take the metro up to Chatuchak Park station for the market (it's clean and safe), then lug your haul back to the hotel via taxi.

Room Tip: The higher you go, the better the view, and the less noise you'll get from the bustling Sathorn...
