Very good hotel for business

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 12, 2011
You can never really go wrong if you go for Novotel, especially if you are travelling for business purposes. This Novotel is no exception: it offers an excellent service (not to forget the high Thai standards help a big deal) and the location is ideal if you need to conduct business in the central area of Bangkok.

The room was spacious enough and well equipped; the design is nothing to rave about, but it is a boutique hotel. The bed was comfy, the bathroom functional and everything looked neat and clean.

The only complaint I have about the bedroom is the unpleasant smell I found when I checked in... But it disappeared after the first night (or perhaps my nose got used to it?).

The breakfast was copious and offered a variety of dishes to choose from; do take the time to try their waffles, they are delicious!

We were here for one night on a business trip. We arrived 1a.m. and checked out around 10am the following day.

As you would expect from Novotel, it's modern, clean and good service. The location, however is not in the middle of the city center but taxi isn't hard to find.

The bathroom has full time hot Water which was irritating since I had no time to call someone to fix things.

You can't beat the value though, $65.00 includes breakfast for two for a fairly new Novotel booked on Expedia.

I wouldn't mind staying here again, but I would look around for other hotels nearer to the city center.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments on the hotel regarding your recent stay with us.

Novotel is a very popular brand for mid scale business guests, and this being a new "next generation" hotel.

The hotel is only one year old and is following in that tradition of demand from business and leisure guests to the Silom area.

I was a bit concerned about the comment with the hot water, but at any time during your stay please just let us know if any concerns as we have staff available 24 hours to look after you.

We hope to see you again soon.

Kind Regards

Robert Atlee

I said that there was no privacy in the bathroom in my last review of this hotel. That was incorrect......there is a button on the wall which operates an electric screen which rolls down to give complete privacy.
The room I am staying in today is number 1717 and smells like a sewer drain, but otherwise it's very comfortable.

Dear Guest,

That was good of you to report back what you thought was an oversight in the bathroom privacy.

I checked out the comment about the drain, but couldn't detect any particular odour or problem, but I have taken note and will monitor in case of any other comments.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay, and I hope we see you agin in the near future.

I stayed at this hotel with a girlfriend on 'girls shopping trip'. We booked through the hotel not long after it had opened and got a fantastic special. We had a ball.
Checkin/checkout was very smooth and the staff always very friendly. Enough tuk tuks and taxi's out the front though we did have to wait about 20min for a taxi on our departure because it was very wet and there werent any free taxi's about. Thought the hotel was in a great location, within walking distance to the skytrain (I'm not fit and was it only about a 10min walk!....so anyone that complains that it is a long way should get fitter!). Also within walking distance to the boat taxi's, fun experience.
Our room was lovely and clean. Bathrooms are a little different but once we worked out the electric blind all was good! Most of the time we had hot water, though there were occasions that it was at best tepid. Aircon worked well, was very quiet and we slept well. The rooms are very small, but we found them adequate. Breakfast was abit boring, not a great deal of variety but plenty of it.
I love street food and have not been to bangkok for many years so I was able to introduce my friend (who has not done a lot of travelling) to the different food on the street. We did a breakfast one morning and had a great time trying different dishes. Some really yummy but others YUK!
Next year is my 20th wedding anniversary and I want to bring my husband back to Bangkok, I have no doubt we will stay at this hotel.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your comments and the photos.

Silom is a great location, especially for access to the river and the many trips available, as well as of course night shopping and entertainment.

Glad you worked out how to operate the blinds in the bathroom, part of our "next generation" rooms!

Look forward to seeing you again when you return to Bangkok.

Kind Regards,

As this was a business trip, we chose a convenient, central location. Our checkin was effortless and the staff were very gracious. It could have come down to the fact that we are A Club members with the Accor Group and we chose to stay on one of two Executive floors. I did take notice of other people checking in and they received wonderful treatment as well.
If you are able to, the Executive floors are fabulous. Not only do you have the normal use of the pool, gym and sauna, you also take advantage of the Executive Floor Business Centre. This was located on the 6th floor. They also offered evening cocktails and pre dinner canapes. Of course, every night at 6pm, we enjoyed a peaceful pre dinner drink prior to leaving for the wonderful nightlife that Bangkok is famous for.
Breakfast was wonderful, with an array of Western and Asian cuisine available. This amounted to the main meal of our day and the made to order eggs were a hit.
The staff need to be congratulated on their wonderful sense of humour, and professionalism. The management run a great hotel that we will definitely visit on our next trip to Bangkok.
The pool, gym and sauna area is relatively compact, though they function perfectly. Do a workout, have a sauna then relax in the pool on a chair.
Compared to a number of hotels I have stayed at recently, this hotel is very clean and our sleep quality was excellent.
The staff all over the hotel, recognised us and always greeted us my name. When we had packages delivered, they sent them to our room and notified us when we returned. We were always greeted with a smile and escorted into the hotel.

The location is in Silom Road with the Patpong night markets on the same road only a Tuk Tuk ride away. There are plenty of taxis and Tuk Tuk's available outside the door. I would recommend one of the drivers that usually sit outside the Novotel as they seem relatively trustworthy.
Across the road is the Holiday Inn where we had dinner one night as the Novotel had a seafood night that we were not interested in. The food there was also very enjoyable.
Also across the road is the "now" famous State Tower, where Hangover 2 was filmed. This is a must see place to visit as the views on the 63rd floor will testify. You will see were the famous scene of the Hangover was filmed overlooking Bangkok. On a clear day (not when we were there) the views would be exceptional. The bar is generally open at night on a walk in basis - no reservation. We unfortunately did not get there at night as we only found this place on our last day. Too busy with meetings etc.
Another place to visit is also just around the corner on the river were you can catch a long boat ride taking you up river and through the the canals of Bangkok.
I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodation and it fitted our needs and purse pocket perfectly.
Please note that you will always receive better treatment if you treat the staff well.

Room tip: Check on the Accor website for value deals.

Dear Guest,

How great for you to have such a wonderful time in the hotel!

Just about all the comments we receive, even if something is wrong the positive responses about our staff are highlighted every time.

The staff are just so keen to make sure our guests are looked after, and with their natural ability to serve it really is appreciated by the majority of the many different nationalities staying with us.

Thank you for taking the time to record your comments, and we hope to see you again in the future.

this is a very modern hotel ... best suit for business travelers. new and very clean.

we like bangkok but always come across a lot hassles with the taxi drivers. so every time we get the help from the front desk staff. they are always super helpful - telling us the approximate duration of the ride, writing in big thai words of the addresses we wanted to go to. it was also raining, the concierge staff proactively asked if we need umbrellas, too! =)

the only bummer with the hotel is that there are only two elevators. we found that breakfast time is always the peak hours of these elevators. it took us a long while to get on the elevators on the last day when we were checking out in the morning. and when they are full, they just go directly to the "destinations". so the solution for us was to take the elevator that is going up, and it turned out that when it reached the top floor, we got to get down to the 6th floor (restaurant) with no stops at all.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments regarding our front office staff.

One of the great pleasures of working in Thailand is experiencing the wonderful, natural friendly response from our staff to our guests.

I must say that was a great initiative of yours to beat the jam of the elevators, which can have heavy demand at certain times, so it proves where there is a will there is a way?

Glad you enjoyed the hotel, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Kind Regards,
