“Wonderful stay!”
Reviewed January 18, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights in the beginning of Jan. Clean, comfortable, relaxing, breakfast was delicious, and location was convenient. The only minor issue we had was the wifi would go in and out when using a mobile device in certain areas of our room. Overall, a great stay!

My partner and I stayed at Ariyasomvilla for 3 night over Christmas and we did not want to leave! It was a haven from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and once inside the hotel, it felt homely and relaxed. The food in the restaurant was quite simply the best we had during our 3.5 weeks in Thailand, the staff were attentive without being in your face and David the owner was the perfect host. The room we had overlooked the pool and it was divine, the location of the hotel is perfect to explore Bangkok and the spa was wonderful. If you are planning to visit Bangkok, don't waste your time booking any other hotels, get yourself a room at Ariyasomvilla and you won't regret it!
David - you are a credit to the brits and your bread and butter pudding will be something I won't forget - I will be back one day for it! PS Mr Glitter sends you his best wishes :-)

Room Tip: The Deluxe rooms and Suites are fabulous.

We were in Bangkok for New Year's and then returned a week or so later before we returned home from an Asian holiday. The Ariyasom is such a special place...it definitely has an authentic Thai feel, in terms of architecture and decor. More than that, the proprietor, David, appears to have a deep affection for the area, which is absolutely infectious! It was a treat to run into him in the mornings and evenings, always helpful with advice and insights. It is very rare to have such a hands-on host...definitely makes all the difference. On New Year's morning, guests were invited to a traditional Buddhist blessings ceremony. Nine Buddhist monks arrived to perform the ceremony. Afterwards, David passed out traditional sweets, in keeping with custom. The staff are pleasant, friendly and efficient and appeared keen on accommodating every request! Would definitely stay here again! Kudos to our travel agent, Hannah Jones of Audley Travel, for making this recommendation!

We stayed at Ariyasomvilla for a couple of nights over Chirstmas. Overall we were very impressed and we would strongly recommend the place – the location is ideal for exploring Bangkok, with a short walk to the skytrain. The setting allows you relax whilst being in the midst of city life and pleasantly away from the tourist trap areas.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and incredibly informative, giving us good advice and enabling use to make the most of our time in Bangkok. The manager was also very personable and welcoming. The breakfast were exceptional and the accommodation itself is beautiful and authentic. The salt water pool was perfect for an end of day dip. Evening swimming slightly overlaps the alfresco dinning, which isn’t perfect, but not huge deal. The daytime noises of the city are a little loud (boats, school and neighbour animals), but the reality is most guests are out exploring the city in any case. There is very little noise after 7pm.

Our studio room was very nice and comfortable, fully fitted with a very comfortable bed. I understand the other rooms generally exceed this already high standard.

My only comment towards giving a 4-rating rather than a 5-rating are that we were disappointed with dinner in the restaurant, both price and taste. We had high expectations and would have like to have seen a broader range of vegetarian and seafood options. I would suggest such a restaurant may wish to offer a sampling menu to allow new arrivals to Thailand a broad range of tastes and flavors. Also I am not oblivious to the fact we booked in the absolute peak season, but I feel in hindsight the cost is a shade too high and therefore exceeding expectations becomes very hard, but then again the place is unique and close to perfection… so fair play.

We stayed here for the last night of our honeymoon on 22nd December and were upgraded from a Deluxe room to the Suite! I'm sure the Deluxe room would have been absolutely lovely (as the whole hotel looks amazing), but the suite was just so wonderful, and that was a really lovely gesture from this gem of a hotel.
The four poster bed was amazing, as were the floral painted double sinks, and the roll top bath (with countless rose heads floating in water!), and the rose petals in a heart on our bed, lots of luxurious sofas and cushions as well, and tasty fresh exotic fruit waiting for us in our room (different varieties to what we had had elsewhere, and fresher). We had never stayed anywhere like it before and I don't think we will ever stay somewhere so lovely ever again.
We had stayed in a very crisp modern hotel for the first night of our honeymoon, also in Bangkok, so it was great to spend our last night somewhere much more traditional and serene. The antique furnishings and chandeliers are beautiful without being over the top. The service was faultless - a perfect balance of personal and professional. The owner came out in the evening and at breakfast to greet us and the other guests, which was also another lovely touch.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was the best we had had during our honeymoon (and we had had a lot of great food!). They don't serve meat which we had not been aware of, so we were initially concerned, but we were wrong to be. They do serve fish and my husband had a great fish dish and I went for a great vegetarian massaman curry and I was just so sorry that my eyes were bigger than my stomach! Breakfast was amazing, next to the lush chilled-out pool area, and you could barely tell it was all vegetarian. Our juice, fruit and toast seemed to be constantly replenished and we really did not want to leave!
This place is well worth the slight difficulty the taxi driver might have finding it (the hotel will email you directions in Thai for the taxi driver) and it is such a haven from the hustle and bustle right outside.

Beautifully located boutique hotel, located at the end of a busy bustling street, you fall into a wonderful oasis of calm.
Lush gardens hide the busy streets and although a little bit out of town, the sky train is literally a five minute walk. The sky train is so easy to use and navigate and we found our way around incredibly easily.
Our rooms were incredibly clean, beautiful bathrooms, clean towels and sheets on the bed. Air conditioning if you wanted to put it on or a ceiling fan, which we preferred.
From breakfast to supper, the food was deliciously sublime, fantastic choice, beautiful fruit plate, fresh juices, great hot breakfast too. Supper was a wonderful array of typical Thai food, with elegant tones of Thai influence with English deserts to die for. The apple crumble and bread and butter pudding were our favourites.
David our host and owner with his beautiful wife, could not do enough to help us. He gave us two top tips of things that we said we would like to do. Our first was a City bike ride, exhilarating and exciting. A truly fabulous way to see the sights and smell the incredible odours of the city. We loved it.
The second was possibly one of the highlights of our lives: washing, swimming and riding with Elephants (all looked after properly and with care), and then we fed 3 month old tiger cubs and held 3 week old tiger cubs too. There are not sufficient adjectives to describe our emotions...
A magical stay, a wonderful experience and we cannot thank David and his staff for a fabulous start to our stay in the Far East...
(And remember David, we are from Susssss-ex! Little joke we had!)
If you fancy a great fabulous boutique hotel, with all the trappings of a small oasis, friendly staff, fabulous food, you really could not beat this as a start, middle or end of your holiday in Bangkok.
Thank you for a great stay!

Room Tip: We had the downstairs rooms, adjoining, and looking over the little garden, nice outlook and no stai...
