Great little hotel. Yes, as some of the reviews before have suggested, it is a little hard to find but all you need to remember (or tell your taxi driver) is keep going right to the very end of the road. Soi 6 seems quite a long alley but it is perfectly safe and this is a great location.
Stafg were very welcoming. Straight to our room. Two lovely, clean, twin beds, a fridge (with complementary bottles of water), air conditioning (a must-have in Bangkok), a little balcony, tv and en suite bathroom. The room was very clean (bathroom shelf needed a little wipe but nothing major) and included towels. Safe in the room should you need it.
Overall, we felt very safe. All floors had cctv, doors were securely locked, if returning late at night you needed to use your key to 'beep' in through the main door.
Breakfast was included and was lovely - endless tea and coffee, toast, egg, thai rice, cereal etc. Good choice and lovely, friendly ladies serving and doing the cleaning.
Staff were great and very helpful - ordering a taxi for us and writing down in Thai the place names of our two next destinations so that we could just show these.
A great stay in a great location, highly recommend.

I stayed here twice, at the recommendation of a friend. The location is good - walking distance to Khao San Road, quiet side street. The hotel itself is fairly basic. They have good security around the building and always someone at the front desk. Breakfast is pretty standard but will suffice. Rooms are standard - big beds, cold AC, a tiny little balcony, bathroom with individual hot water heaters, mini fridge and TV in the room. Everything was quite clean.

Overall, no complaints. I've heard it is nicer/better value than other similar places in the area, so I would say stay here if you want to be in this part of the city!

The hotel is situated near Khoa San Road down a dark alley. The rooms are quite big with everything you could need apart from curtains, therefore it gets light when the sun comes up. It can feel a little like you are sleeping in a very large prison cell as the windows are narrow and the walls are painted white. The breakfast is good.

Some of the bad reviews say "it's a hostel". Yes, it's a cheapo hotel/hostel. It's not THE cheapest, but it's fantastic value. We also stayed in Tara Place down teh road, for twice teh price, and preferred Rood View Place.

Here's why: after three months on the road, you don't expect luxury. Cleanliness is the most important, and a rich all-you-can-eat buffet a godsend.

We picked the luxury room, because of the balcony. It's big enough, nice enough, with a huge shower. The tiles are white = clean. There's a fridge and you get a free bottle of water each per day, even if you don't want your room cleaned.

We loved the breakfast, which was eggs, fruits, whole wheat bread(!), cereal, yogurt, tomatoes, cucumbers, noodles, and probably something else that i have forgotten. It filled us up for teh rest of the day.

We also loved the great service/information. The people who worked there knew exactly what buses went where, how much a tuktuk ride should cost from A to B, etc. It was so easy to move around!

Location is also great; 10 minutes walk from the horrid Khao San Road. Close enough to enjoy it if you want, and far enough if you want to stay away from all the other tourists.

Only negatives was the distance to the subways (you can't have everything for $25/night?) and as others have mentioned the moody ladyboy who works the nightshift.

And yes, if you book online you pay A LOT more. But then, this place is usually fully booked.

Totally recommended to anyone who knows that $25/night doesn't buy you luxury in pricy Bangkok.

Room Tip: Pay a couple of dollars more and get the "luxury" room. It's totally worth it!

We were two 20-something female Australians and found this place great. Clean, shower was large, air con was great, not hard to find once you know where to go. Yes it's a bit pricer than other places (I wouldn't bother if I was travelling by myself) but if you have a group it's reasonable per person and your own bathroom and private key made it worth it for us - $15pp/night over $10pp/night bought us piece of mind and a clean private bathroom. So maybe not for everyone but great for us. Probably good for families too. Staff weren't overly friendly but breakfast was terrific (!!) and beds weren't too uncomfortable (all Thai beds are really hard by Western standards).

It's located at the back lane of one of the street nearby Khao Shan Road. Not very easy to find therefore has to communicate well with the driver before heading towards. While walking to Khao San Road, you can also explore the other streets nearby. Being located in the old city area of Bangkok, the cafes around serve local food in a mixed atmosphere of local & western culture.

I personally don't like the cafes inside Khao San Road as they are too commercialised to cater the foreigners' taste. I would suggest to visit the restaurants/ cafes around if you would like to know more about the city. I think this applies to everywhere in Bangkok, but it is true that you can find a lot of 7-11 shops nearby Roof View Place.

If you would like to chill out at night, Blues Bar that is just opposite of the Roof View Place's main road is a very nice option. Blues Bar has been established for more than 10 years and it's performed by the locals.

Toilet and room of Roof View Place are equally clean, and they serves homey breakfast.
