“Top quality Thai Food”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

I go to this restaurant every time I visit Bangkok - the food is top quality and the service outstanding as you would expect in Bangkok.

The fusion experiments are fascinating like the Panang Lamb Curry - you have to try it.

Great food - GREAT FOOD!!

“One of my All Time Favourite Restaurants”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

I have been visiting this restaurant for years and have yet to have a bad meal here. The staff are nothing special and some can be surly but you come here for the food. The portions are large and the heat of the food adjusted to your taste though even if you ask for it to be hot & spicy they always reduce the heat for western tastes. The outside sitting area can be noisy because of the rather loud 'live' traditional music that is frequently played. Also outside is for smokers so unless you want nicotine giving you cancer and ruining the taste of you food eat in the air-conditioned indoor section where thankfully smoking is prohibited. Booking is essential almost any evening of the week, unless you are prepared to sit and wait for a table, but the people watching whilst waiting for your table can be enjoyable. Try the Grilled Squid and the Soft Shell Crab curry, I do not think they will disappoint you.

“Touristy, overpriced, but good food.”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

Mango Tree is definitely catering to the nearby tourist traffic. The restaurant is big and open-air, with a reasonably-sized bar. There's nothing special about the food, the menu is pretty expansive with a wide range of Thai food. Because of its location and appeal to the tourist crowd, you are going to be paying a premium for food at Mango Tree. Additionally it attracts the night-life crowd, so maybe not the best for a romantic evening, if you are near a table preparing for a night out on the town.

Unfortunately, our experience at Mango Tree was dampened by the service. It was very poor. The restaurant seemed busy, but nothing overwhelming, yet we were left at length at our table without being asked about drinks and ordering. Additionally, our food was not brought out together and had to remind our server we were waiting for another dish.

We ordered chicken satay, pork fried rice and Phad See Ui with chicken. All the dishes were pretty good and didn't short change us on the serving size or meat.

I would recommend Mango Tree if you're in the neighborhood and wanting traditional Thai, just expect to pay a little more and possibly avoid the busiest of times, in order to get a little better service. It might be worth while to know you are getting more quality food and lessen the chance of getting sick.

“Pretty restaurant, average food and pretty expensive.”

The restaurant is beautiful, service is good, entertainment (dancers and music) are, well, entertaining. The food was just okay, but the bill was a whopper!
