“Superb hotel - great location, friendly service and value for money”
Reviewed February 25, 2011

We stayed at the Swan Hotel on 3 different occasions during our time in Thailand and we always looked forward to coming back here. The reasons are:

* Great location in riverside near the main Th Silom and striking distance of major sights
* Incredibly clean rooms with fresh linen and towels on arrival
* Really friendly and helpful staff - the reception team will call hotels in other locations to help you book
* Restaurant serves lovely food and at reasonable prices
* Breakfast is included in the price and is a good spread
* The pool area is a great place to relax and is well looked after
* A standard twin or double booked online only costs 1,200baht (approx $32)
* It's quiet and you can get a good night's sleep

We couldn't find any downsides. Each time we headed somewhere new, they offered a free bag storage service so we didn't have to drag our main bags with us. We found the hotel a lovely place to stay and the staff here made us feel very welcome.

We loved it so much we booked my fiancee's parents into a room when they visited.

Thanks
james & muneeza

We stayed a total of 7 nights and thought it was excellent for the price. It is not a 5star hotel. We had a deluxe room and found it very comfortable. It has a typical Thai bathroom which some people might find confronting but we were at the end of a month in Thailand and had used them before. We went on a tour in the middle of our stay left most of our luggage behind for no extra charge. It was safe and sound when we returned. We used the pool every day and it was clean as were the pool surrounds. The manger even lent the children goggles to use. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will stay again when we go back to Bangkok.

I went on a vacation to bangkok with my family for the 1st time. our experience wouldve been perfect but this hotel almost ruined our much awaited holiday. first off, we were promised at the airport that it was a 4 star hotel, that we would get 2 joining rooms as requested, free breakfast and city tour, and a free shuttle ride to the airport and back all for the price of 10600 baht for a 3 night stay. it sounded like the best deal plus they showed us their brochure and it looked very chic and comfy. as soon as we got to the hotel, it was already quitedisappointing. the place didn't look a thing like what we saw on the photos. it looked very old. worse is when we got to our rooms upstairs. the 2 rooms we booked were at both ends of the hall. the tour is not exactly free. we have to pay for the entance fee which waass 350 baht per person and the tour guide was asking 300 baht for him and a 100 baht for the driver. do the math that isjust way too much. we wanted to refund our money because we felt very much that we were deceived. but my family were tired and they didn' t want to go back to the airport just to get 50% of what we paid for plus the taxi fare to and back-in short we would be losing more money. we decided to do the city tour on our own and had more fun and saved more money. once we got back from the hotel, i noticed that the hotel slippers were used and old and just put in a plastic bag-all of the pairs in both rooms, our room's bathroom had no light so i had to shower with the door open, the water from the shower felt like a light rain so i took more time just t get rid of all the shampoo on my hair, the rooms were not 4 star standard at all and not updated. it was the 1st hotel i have been in with a linoleum flooring. the hotel staff spoke little english that is why we had a frustrating time explaining to them our disappointments as well as our requirements. the neighborhood where the hotel wasn't really inviting. in fact, as sooon as we got in, while i was registering, one foreign lady even warned my brother to becareful and advised us not to deal with the drivers outside of the hotel. we just decided to stay because we didnt want to lose more money. i just felt sooooo disappointed that for the money i paid for, i couldve stayed in a 5 star hotel like holiday inn witht he same price tag for a 3 night stay. actually even less. we also saw silom village inn which was offering 999 baht a night. i have learned my lesson and will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed 3 nites, early September after a 25 year gap. Hotel was apparently closed for 10 years, then refurbished and reopened recently. Still great value/location. Extremely helpful manager gives 20% off published rate for email booking. Good restaurant , pool area, helpful staff. Expensive internet, tho quite fast. The single rooms, 960Baht with discount great value, but very, very noisy. Would not recomend for light sleepers!

I first stayed in the Swan Hotel about 30 years ago. Recently I returned to Bangkok after an absence of 25 years. Still the same crazy city but I have to say I love it - not least because of the Swan Hotel. It has had a big upgrade - the rooms are smarter and all have air-conditioning, TVs and bathrooms. They surround a lovely decent sized swimming pool with crystal clear water and a nice sitting area. The pool is an outdoor pool which is quite rare in Bangkok except in the most expensive hotels. A full breakfast (including multiple coffee fill-ups)is included in the room price which was 1200 baht per night . I ate several meals in the hotel cafe - all were very good and cheap (Pad Thai about US$3) and served amazingly quickly. There is an internet room or you can log on in your own room to the wireless network (12 hours use over 2 days 200 Baht or US6.25) - it worked well and was speedy. The staff at the desk and around the lobby were always helpful and attentive. The hotel is close to the river (for the river taxis) and the skytrain which is the easiest way of getting around the city. This hotel is a bargain at less than US40 per night.

We had a deluxe room and it was nice, the shower was alright nothing fancy it was clean. The breakfast wasn't special but ok. However the little pool is gross, beer bottles were laying around and the water looked disgusting.
Wouldn't recommend this hotel to families, there were a lot of prostitutes walking the streets. For single men looking for fun it's the right hotel though.
One night we were woken up by a screaming foreign woman banging on our door and screaming from the top of her lungs, didn't quite understand what she was screaming about. We told her to go away but she kept banging, so we called the reception. They knew about her already and said they couldn't do anything about it. they told me that her friends went partying and she went back to the hotel not having the keys with her, so I asked if they could give her a spare one and they said they didn't have a spare key. So we had to endure the drunken lady for along time, the hotel didn't even apologise to us.
