Food was good, service friendly. The place is cavernous in relation to the small number of people present so it felt a bit cold and lonely. Still it was convenient and we took several meals there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Sala Rossa; so much we went back the next night. Food was so good - real Italian, similar to what we have in NYC. We had rocket salads (arugula) and I had a vegetarian pizza (Thailand is hard for a vegetarian) and my husband had linguini with clams. Absolutely fabulous; service was excellent by "Air", so much we requested him again the next night. Wine reasonably priced by Bangkok standards (substantially cheaper than in the Four Seasons, where we stayed). This was definitely our best meals in Bangkok!

Bangkok is exhausting, and when we couldn't face an excursion for dinner, we walked across the road. You'd find it quickly from the St Regis or the Four Seasons too.
Sala Rossa is quite a big room, and it was quite full of cheerful people. We got a good table without reservation. The large menu and even larger wine list had the usual international Italian dishes at sensible prices. I had roast duck breast, which was terribly overdone, so tough and tasteless. My wife had a ravioli of crab, which was delicious. But a bottle of Montepulciano made it all go down well, and we enjoyed the meal. Ser5vice was prompt and friendly.

The restaurant has gone far past being traditional and is now dated. The music selection is just APPALLING - some Italian "C" grade records from the 60s/70s jumbled with who knows what. The very large space echoes - not helped by the fact there were only about 2 other tables total in there. The bus shelter sytle bland and dull-but-still-too-bright lighting is the final nail in the ambiance coffin. Some of the food is good, but not all, and on two visits the same pasta dish tasted totally different. Needs an urgent makeover - reducing the size of the room, putting some rugs, altering the lighting (pencil spot lights please), making the food consistent, changing that awful music - those would all be good steps. Service was ok but not fantastic. Staff seem to be resigned to going down with the ship as the music blares on...
