I never thought this before, but I must be a city girl at heart. I definitely love my creature comforts, especially after a long bout of traveling around without them, which don't get me wrong, was definitely fun and has its merits but I was happy to have a nice, comfortable room and shower.
We really enjoyed our stay at Urban House. It was in a good location for us, between Silom and Saladaeng station, and enough away from the main street to be quite quiet. The room we had was spacious and well maintained. The aircon worked wonderfully. Everything was kept clean and smelled nice. We stayed in room 4a. It looks out onto the roof and laundry drying area. We liked that it seemed secluded and more private although the room walls are a bit thin but that could be because it seems it has been added onto the roof so maybe the lower levels might be more quiet, I'm not sure. But as we were the only customers on the top floor, we hardly heard any noise except for when the ladies would come check on the laundry. There is one other room on the top floor but I'm not sure if it is for people to stay in or not. Noise wasn’t really a problem as this isn’t a place people looking for a party would go, even though it is within walking distance to a really rowdy area of Bangkok. Hopefully it stays a quiet sanctuary.
It was perfect for a late 20s/early 30s couple like ourselves at a decent price. A simple breakfast was available as was free Wifi. We arrived a little early for our booking and were allowed to relax in the lobby. We were offered free coffee or tea while we waited or a choice to opt in for that morning's breakfast as well for a couple of extra bucks. Otherwise, breakfast was included with our stay. I think you can choose to have breakfast included or not. You can choose from toast, jam, butter, juice, milk, apples, bananas, coffee and tea. Pretty simple but good for us. The coffee and tea was available throughout the day until I think 8pm which was quite nice to have after a long day out.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. If we had a question, they were answered in detail and even went above and beyond to make sure we had the info we needed. By the time we left, I wished we had at least one more day to spend there. The only suggestion I would have is to be careful in the shower, ours was quite slippery and could use maybe some non slip mat. Also a tip for the shower, if you like it pretty hot, what worked for me was just turning the water down a bit.
