I never thought this before, but I must be a city girl at heart. I definitely love my creature comforts, especially after a long bout of traveling around without them, which don't get me wrong, was definitely fun and has its merits but I was happy to have a nice, comfortable room and shower.

We really enjoyed our stay at Urban House. It was in a good location for us, between Silom and Saladaeng station, and enough away from the main street to be quite quiet. The room we had was spacious and well maintained. The aircon worked wonderfully. Everything was kept clean and smelled nice. We stayed in room 4a. It looks out onto the roof and laundry drying area. We liked that it seemed secluded and more private although the room walls are a bit thin but that could be because it seems it has been added onto the roof so maybe the lower levels might be more quiet, I'm not sure. But as we were the only customers on the top floor, we hardly heard any noise except for when the ladies would come check on the laundry. There is one other room on the top floor but I'm not sure if it is for people to stay in or not. Noise wasn’t really a problem as this isn’t a place people looking for a party would go, even though it is within walking distance to a really rowdy area of Bangkok. Hopefully it stays a quiet sanctuary.

It was perfect for a late 20s/early 30s couple like ourselves at a decent price. A simple breakfast was available as was free Wifi. We arrived a little early for our booking and were allowed to relax in the lobby. We were offered free coffee or tea while we waited or a choice to opt in for that morning's breakfast as well for a couple of extra bucks. Otherwise, breakfast was included with our stay. I think you can choose to have breakfast included or not. You can choose from toast, jam, butter, juice, milk, apples, bananas, coffee and tea. Pretty simple but good for us. The coffee and tea was available throughout the day until I think 8pm which was quite nice to have after a long day out.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. If we had a question, they were answered in detail and even went above and beyond to make sure we had the info we needed. By the time we left, I wished we had at least one more day to spend there. The only suggestion I would have is to be careful in the shower, ours was quite slippery and could use maybe some non slip mat. Also a tip for the shower, if you like it pretty hot, what worked for me was just turning the water down a bit.

Room Tip: We enjoyed room 4a. It's all the way at the top and feels more private, even if the walls aren't that thick. There aren't any elevators so we hauled our stuff up to the top floor which was fine for us but something to keep in mind if you have a lot of luggage.

Urban House is not just a traveler's urban haven away from home in Bangkok but a perfect refuge to rest, relax and find solace after a hard and tiring day's traveling and discovering Bangkok's hidden gems. As a guest house with almost five-star comforts, it is a great find and a pleasant discovery. The accommodation is simple and minimalist and yet very appealing, relaxing and very convenient. For three days we were treated with impeccably clean, tastefully designed, and functionally convenient and well-appointed room. The bed is surprisingly very comfortable, not too soft nor too firm, just enough for soothing tired bones and limbs for a restful and good night's sleep. While an upgrade to LCD or LED TV would be welcome, this will not and cannot diminish the impressive understated elegance of Urban House. The place is conveniently located near BTS Saladaeng Station and Silom Subway Station. We got by just by using BTS from which everywhere in the city is very accessible.

But for us, the lady who co-owns and manages the place is its most important asset. Her warmth, knowledge, enthusiasm and sincere desire to be of help to her guests to experience Thailand and make the most of the little time they have to cover as many places as they could, will always leave wonderful memories of their travel in Thailand. We did and we have.

The simple pleasures to be had in Urban House will always make it a top pick for us in Bangkok. Hard to believe? That's for you to find out.

Room Tip: Just follow the map that's downloadable from Urban House's website and you'll never get lost. Print it if you may.

We stayed for 4 days at urban house. Our room was large, clean, simple but chic. The lady at the front desk spoke great English and was extremely helpful. She helped with tour booking and made sure we knew how much things should cost ( ie taxi, etc) so we don't get cheated. Breakfast was quite simple (toast, yogurt and coffee). Nothing remarkable. Definitely, will return.:)

I always stay at Urban house when I go to Bangkok.
The owner is always there to help you and give you the right advice.
Good location in Saladeang Road, a few minutes from the Saladeang Sky train and the Silom Subway.
Simple and clean room. Also very quiet.
You can give your cloths for laundry which is useful in a hot and humid city like Bangkok.
