2 nights here and I was so impressed. I knew I had booked a budget/basic type hotel but everything and every aspect worked perfectly. My room was clean, clear, simple, efficient. Great shower, comfy bed, and a common sense approach when I came home with a companion for the evening - in everyones best interests. Front office staff were smiling and efficient and lets face it at a moderately priced hotel there is no point asking/demanding an upgrade or an early checkin/late checkout. Overall a really good product. don't miss the excellent 'hole in the wall'' 'Mali Restaurant' just around the corner. I will be back.

My Thai GF and I stayed here for a few nights about 18 months ago. The area is ok ... not as well glitzy as Suhkumvit , but everything you need for a week . 7-11 across the road ( where isnt there a 7-11 in bkk ?! ) plus money exchange and good thai food. The Hotel itself is quite modern and clean . Friendly enough staff . We didnt eat in hotel but the restaurant looked pretty good.
The rooms are clean and bed is ok , pretty comfy. ( Thai beds are notoriously hard )..
The rooms are small. This is ok if you dont want to spend all week in the room . Its not a resort.
there s a room safe , ( a must have for me) .. and a tv with cable ... However the tv is small , very small , you need to sit 1 metre to see it properly... but hey i didnt come to bkk to watch tv..
The bathroom is so small it reminded me of the bathrooms in the plane on the way over.... but it had hot water and it all was clean ... one at a time in bathroom only ... The window had a fairly good view and barfridge worked fine...No pool though.. THE best part is that its cheap as chips ... $38 a night.
If you need to be near Sathorn then this is a good choice.. I would go back but my next venture is to chinatown ... so need to be closer to Yaowarat...

dear trip advisor fans,

i have spent my holidays ,in Thailand from 14 sep to 18 sep . 4 nights at bangkok and 4 nights at pattaya.

unfortunately , a tour agency, that name is homa travel had chosen ibis bangkok sathorn hotel ,that is terrible hotel ,with misbehave reception staffs ,who are very impolite to the guests . they gave me a room without any view toward outside ,just there is a long dirty old wall in front of my room window just like a jail .and when i complained bout the room ,the reception staff promised that ,they will change my room tomorrow morning because many of guests will leave the hotel tomorrow.
in that case ,i arrived tomorrow ,after check out time it means after 12 o clock, but in spite of leaving a large number of guests ,they didn't change my room and reception staff said with very impolite manner : we haven't available room and you can check out if you aren't please from our hotel ,in spite of their promise for changing the room on the last night .
as a result ,i had to check out on 15 sep and they didn't take back my money because i paid money for 4 nights from 14 to 18 sep .
after leaving ibis sathorn hotel ,i went to the Ruamchitt plaza at sukhumvit road ,which is very good hotel ,considering the price .

Room Tip: this hotel is almost crowded and there is too much noise from next door rooms, that don't let you...

The location is good for us. They do a reasonable breakfast lunch and dinner. Several nice restaurants in the area too.
The rooms are basic but quite comfortable. Walking distance to Lumphini Station and you can connect with all the other public transports. Plenty of taxi and tuk tuk in the area too. Give it a go I say! It is what it is!! ;-)

The key to this hotel is the price. Get it for under 1,500 Baht including tax, and it's a good deal in my view. Over that, it begins to look a bit too budget for the money.

It is a standard ibis, so rooms are small but well thought out and good enough for a few nights. Accor are good at designing affordable hotels, and I particularly like the way there is lots of space under the bed for luggage.

The bed is really good. There are just two pillows on a double bed but I imagine the hotel will provide more on request. No ironing board in the room, but they will deliver one if you ask.

The bathroom is small but has a decent shower. A single dispenser contains something that acts as soap, shower gel and shampoo!

There is a laundry service but it takes two days, unless you are prepared to pay twice the price. There is nothing faster than in by 0900 and back in the evening. Worth knowing if you need a shirt for a meeting!

The restaurant and bar are affordable. And there are a few restaurants right outside the hotels which are even better value. There is also a big 7/11 that will heat up a wide selection of readymade meals. So you can eat well for comparatively little money.

The MRT (subway) is about half a mile away. It's an easy walk but ask the hotel for directions as there are two ways to get there and one is much better than the other. Taxis are easy to get but beware those waiting outside, which may be reluctant to charge by meter.

The hotel is looking a little tired here and there. A coat of paint in the rooms would make a big difference. My room could have done with being a bit cleaner too (budget doesn’t have to mean grubby!). But all in all, a good hotel that I'm happy to go back to.

Room Tip: The hotel is on a corner, so two sides face traffic. The other two sides are very quiet.
