“Very Good Stay in Bangkok”
Reviewed October 21, 2011

Stayed from 30th Sept - 4th Oct. There were 5 of us, 2 rooms & 1 extra bed. We stayed at the old hotel block, heard there's a new block across the road.

Anyway this hotel was great. With key-card system, only allows you to your floor and room. Very strategic location, surrounded with rich local culture and busy streets all day long. Reasonable price, easy place to get food, good bargain + cheap clothes/shoes/bags bargain, massage+manicure parlors, and a family mart right opposite the hotel.

Our rooms were in a decent size and clean, equipped with full hotel amenities. A/C & housekeeping service were good too. Clean bathroom with very hot water. Need some time to figure out how to balance the water temperature. Otherwise they were all good, nothing fancy but just what we need. Clean and comfortable.

Hotel staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. They were always ready to help and greeted us with humble hospitality. There was one night that was raining extremely heavy, one of the staff helped us with a huge umbrella across the street to the family mart and waited till we were done. Did not have any breakfast in the hotel as many hawker foodcarts are all outside the hotel throughout the whole day.

They have a free tuk-tuk service ONLY to the main road or nearby streets every half hourly everyday. Do not expect them to bring you to other places that are out of their hotel boundary. Nevertheless, It was good enough for us and a great advantage + convenience. You can call back to the hotel and ask for the time that they would be around the drop off point, and you can wait for them there. Very good pick & drop-off service.

Almost all the cabs that we took, dropped us off in front of the hotel, very unlikely to what other reviews mentioned that they were dropped off the cab blocks away from the hotel. Guess we were lucky then.

We were very happy with the stay. Thanks Citin!! We will be back.

Room Tip: Book earlier as this hotel is pretty popular. Get rooms that are further from the main busy street.

I make it a point to visit BKK twice a year for shopping, and have been staying at Baiyoke Boutique all these while. This time around, we've heard wonderful reviews about Citin and decided to try it out.

The hotel was overall wonderful!

Staff
Staff was great and helpful. Even though some of them don't smile a lot, they are still helpful nonetheless. We had great experience with Katie, Ohm, and Ae to name a few. They were very accommodating and would nicely answer to our inquiries. We also requested for a few things and our request were very promptly dealt with. Kudos!

Location
It is located at Pratunam area, so it's easy to access to shopping and street stalls all around. The distance is just nice to everything, as compared to White Palace or First House or Metz that we checked-out while we were there.

Free tuk-tuk
As opposed to what others have commented below, the tuk-tuk service was actually really good and on-time. It starts at 8:00am and makes a trip every 30 minute. Though, because they do not have the license to go on the main road, so they can only drop you nearest to where you want to go (but still require walking). Like - they drop you at the bridge and you have to cross it to get to Platinum Mall. Or they drop you at the entrance of one of the last Soi and you still have to walk about 3-5 minutes to the BTS station.

Breakfast
This was the only down turn of my 4 nights stay. Because the owner of the hotel is a vegetarian, they do not serve anything meat at the cafe. Breakfast selection was very limited. We tried to pack up some street food into the cafe during breakfast, but they were very strict about having no meat - any dish that has meat cannot touch their utensils!

Hotel
The hotel lobby, corridors, and rooms were like 4-5 star hotels, just very much smaller in size. The lift functions on a key-card security basis. I live at the older building because I felt it was safer there with at least a lobby at the entrance. The newer building has no lobby, so hotel guest just walks in and goes to the lift and get to their room. We tried using the lift at the new building to get to the 8th floor where Citin Spa is located. To our surprise, we could press every floor without our key-card! That is quite a serious security issue!

Hotel room
It was great. We were there for 4 days. For the first 2 days, we were told that the king-sized bed rooms were all taken. So we took a twin bed room and merged the beds together. The first room we got had very strong cigarette smell even though it was on a non-smoking floor. We finally switched to a king-sized bed the last 2 nights and it was super! No smell, facing the street, love it!

Departure
Our flight was scheduled at night. The latest check-out time they allowed was 1pm. So we checked-out in the morning, left our luggage with them, and went shopping till 4-5pm. They also provide free private bathrooms for us in-case we want to freshen up before heading to the airport. Before leaving the hotel, they got us a tuk-tuk for 60 baht (though i'm sure this varies, because I once got a tuktuk for 40 baht for a round trip and the distance was further than this.) to send us and our luggage to Ratchaprarop airport rail link station.

Our experience have been great thus far and we look forward to staying here again! :)

Room Tip: I prefer to stay at the old building (where the lobby is located) because it feels safer than the ne...

Stayed there from 8th October till 14th , this was our 3rd consecutive year at Citin Pratunam, the quality of service has been consistently excellent , the rooms spotless clean, lots of television channels , tea/coffee maker , a small refrigerator, electronic safe, etc . The most common problem I experienced in 3 star hotels is plumbing , the hot water is either not there or is barely warm, but at Citin Pratunam the water temperatures sway the way you wish, thus ensuring Joys of Bathing !, the staff is very courteous and extremely efficient, the Knight in the Shining Armour i.e. Mr Vicky Singh { C.E.O of the hotel } is always there to help you or guide you, the complimentary breakfast is a vegetarians delight , total veg, not even eggs !! to double the delight a branch of Sagar Ratna restaurant has been operational , serving delicious pure Indian vegetarian snacks and meals, including Jain food, over all Citin Pratunam exceeds to ones expectations , total value for money and a very comfortable stay

Room Tip: The rooms in the restaurant wing are the best

We were initially checking a more popular hotel in the Pratunam area. Good thing we came across this hotel via tripadvisor. Rates are lower at that time, but the location is perfect. The market area in Pratunam where you can buy dresses at 120 baht is just walking distance! Platinum Fashion mall is also a few blocks away. There's also a spa along the way to the hotel where we had a much needed foot massage after our shopping spree. So if you're in Bangkok for a shopping adventure, I definitely recommend this hotel.

Also, its not just the great location. The hotel itself was very clean and quite new at that time. We got pretty good rates at that time, so I wasn't really expecting much from the hotel. But when we got up to our room, it was beyond my expectations. Bathroom is very clean too. Only let down for me was there was a funny smell in our room. It was tolerable though and again, I wasn't expecting much due to its price. The smell was gone the following day anyway. With regards to the amenities, it was pretty basic. I liked that they have computers with internet access at the lobby that can be used for free. The hotel also has a big weighing scale for luggages. This is very useful when checking if you have excess baggage already prior to going back to the airport.

We didn't avail of the hotel breakfast as there are lots of hawkers, stalls, and restaurants outside.

I suggest you print a map of the hotel as the cab driver may not be familiar with the hotel (this was last Dec 2010, so it might be quite new that time). The cab driver kept asking for directions from different people for about 30 mins until we found the hotel.

This was my second time staying in Citin Pratunam. The first time I went was in Sept 2010. It seemed to have gained popularity as most cab drivers did not know about it the first time I went.

The amenities in the hotel is quite new, especially those in the new tower which is a few blocks across the road from the lobby. There's also a small convenience store (Family Mart) just across the road.

The thing I love most about the hotel is that they provide free 'tuk-tuk' every half hour to Platinum Mall! The 'tuk-tuk' is able to transport us to the main road so that we can take the BTS too.

The receptionists are helpful and polite. I especially enjoyed the warm and vibrant service from the hotel porters. One of the porters left a very good impression on me and I regretted not having the chance to tip him as he was not around when I checked out of the hotel.

Nevertheless, I was very disappointed with the service of the house-keeping staff. Their service seems a bit sloppy. One of them was quite rude. When we checked into our room, we discovered that there were 2 bottles of foam bath and no shampoo provided. There was no bedroom slippers found anywhere in the room too. Those are small problems and were immediately rectified with a phone call to the reception desk. We bought dinner from the food carts outside the hotel and brought them back to eat in our hotel room as we wanted a relaxing dinner. My room mate accidentally spilled her drink on her bed and we called the house keeping to help us change the bed sheets. We were prepared to compensate for the accident. However, the house-keeping staff came into our room with a very grumpy face and made impatient noises. We know it's our fault for spilling the drink in the first place but I don't think he should display such an unprofessional attitude!

Despite that unfortunate incident, I would still choose Citin Pratunam the next time I go Bangkok as it's really a very comfortable and value for money hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms at the new building are well, newer...

I chose their package with half day city tour and foot massage and free breakfast. Breakfast was blah. Better to just eat at the adjacent eateries for only 30 or 40 baht per meal.

We waited for the tour as per instruction of the front desk officer but we weren't picked up and the person at the desk just kept apologizing and wouldn't even offer a solution. We asked for a free ride to the Grand palace instead but they just said they can't. So we just went on our own way.

When we were about to use the free massage they said ho back the next day. But we were leaving the next day and they open at 1 pm.

Overall, I hated our stay there. They were so unsympathetic, gave wrong information to guests and false advertising. They said that you get free ride to nearby area by their tuktuk but they didn't give us one even when we asked for it.

I stayed there for one week. The best thing about this hotel, apart from the good service provided, is its proximity to hawker food and shopping. The laneway leading to the hotel is chock-a-block with stalls selling all kind of food, all day and night. You can never go hungry unless you are adverse to hawker food. If you are keen on clothings, you are only five minutes from several huge shopping malls where it is not unusual to see shoppers dragging huge shopping bags (on wheels!!) around. I was told many of these are traders, buying for re-selling at their own outlets. It is a case of cheaper by the dozen, the more you buy, the cheaper it is!! The only downside to the hotel is its narrow access road, and can be quite difficult to find. My taxi driver had to drop me off about two blocks away because he was told he can't get in, which was partially true. In the evening, the access roads become a chaotic mass of scooters, cars, people and food stalls. Quite exciting and alive!

Room Tip: Book early because it is very popular with tour groups. Request for a room higher up.because the fro...
