“Go for the food not the ambiance...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013

Very quiet when we went but the food was pretty good all round. Excellent fish cakes and duck red curry. Wasn't so keen on prawn green curry as I'm not a lover of pea aubergine and there were lots in it, but that is authentic. Not expensive, nice friendly service and very good food. Would definitely return.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Not too far from the Mandarin Oriental and its shopping complex, we found this little restaurant in a small street. The food was amazing (good portions, very tasty), and the decoration of the place is very nice, too. The ambience is relaxed. The service was impeccable, attentive, without crowding. They also offer cooking classes.

“Authentic and tasty Thai”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Chose this purely on location to our hotel and previous reviews. Lived up very well.
Small and with a typically bygone ambience. The menu is very extensive. Very hard to choose just a few things and you could easily eat here for days and not duplicate. Typically Thai very polite very accommodating and with excellent food to match. Six dishes plus rice and two local beers for under 2000 Baht made this supremely better than the large local 5 star hotels for both taste and value.

“An oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

Happily we found this restaurant; excellent food and excellent charm with staff. A paradise with jazz music and plenty of things to look on, both pictures from old Bangkok and lots of old traditional things. Here we also find out that they have a cooking school, which we have to try next time in Bangkok.

“tasty, reasonably priced food in attractive setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

I daresay one can find better value if one has time to search, but for its area (adjacent to super expensive hotels), Tongue Thai is quite reasonable (food only; did not try the infamous beer).
We ate early, were the only party in the restaurant, and were treated kindly and attentively. The menu is well-explained for diners new to Thai food, and had plenty of vegetarian options. Our choices - corn cakes, pad thai, steamed bass, followed by sticky rice with fresh mango (all for $30 inclusive) - arrived promptly, were attractively presented and piping hot, and adequate in quantity (we took away some leftovers). I would go there again if in the neighborhood.
