“Good option if you are staying in khao san area”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

I've tried many restaurants in Bangkok but i want to share my opinion about the Tom Yum Kung.
To be honest if i could choose, there are better restaurants all over the city.
But most of the backpackers end up staying in this area and a lot of people pass by for some shopping or a cheap massage so:
- the little backyard is really peacefull compared to khao san road and so it's a nice place where to have a break during your visit.
- is indicated for those (most of the people coming to Thailand for a 2-3 week holiday) who like thai food but in the "more european" version. The tom yum soup and the curries are ok.
- regarding the service it's (as many other placese in Bangkok) random: sometimes you'll get a very nice waiter sometimes a very rude one.
- It is for sure too expensive compared to the quality but again most of the restaurants in the area serve western food and very low quality asian food.
so in conclusion if you like real thai food and you are not planning to spend all your time in khao san road then there are better options, but if you end up staying there and you don't fancy the street markets food, then it is a better option than most of the places in the area.

“Good food, bad service, overpriced.”
Reviewed November 27, 2012 via mobile

There are street vendors that serve better tasting food. The atmosphere was nice, but for the price, it wasnt worth it. We went there based in a Triposo App reco, and it was disappointing.

“So much flavor”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Dishes had great flavors with good presentation. Price was above average & serving size was a bit small. Waiters & waitress were friendly but spoke little english which for me is a must for a restaurant in a tourist spot. Waiters (or other staff) should also be able to describe the dish or atleast have a menu which has the description or photo of the dish as their names were mostly in Thai.

“Worst ever experience in Bangkok”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

I had the worst ever experience at Tom Yum Kung here in Bangkok. The bad service from the people mention tom boy waitress. We ask her which dish to recommend and she just ignore us. After we make our order from her, she just impatiently took our menu and throw to other table and scold with thai language. Although we dont know what she is talking about, but we can feel that she is talking something bad. We just order 3 dish- tom yum kung, green curry and fish and a pepsi and it all cost us 700++baht. I think it's quite expensive. Foods are hot and a bit too salty. Overall, with a bad service, our appetite is all ruin.
