the Pad thai here is supposed to be "the best in town". It is indeed really good, but also two times the price you find everywhere else, and not two times as good. You should try their specialty, the Pad Thai wrapped in a thin omelette.

The padthai here is YUMMM! The best pad thai in the world! You gotta go here to eat it yourself. Now that I've eaten it, no other padthai can beat it. The place is not hard to find. It's at Thanon Mahachai - 10 mins drive from Chinatown. It's a busy restaurant so you won't miss it. Look for the red signboard with Thipsamai (in Thai language of cos) in white color. Service was good and fast. The price was good and the place was clean enough.

The noodle is very gooey and crunchy at the same time with right amount of sauce. The cooks really know padthai very well indeed. The noodle was wrapped in omelette and 2 prawns. You can add the beansprouts, nuts and chili sauce to your liking. We also ordered their special orange juice with chunks of oranges to go with the padthai. YUMMM!!!

I will make sure I come here again for their padthai in my next visit to Thailand. Not to be missed! Even now I already miss it so much.

Prior to departure for Bangkok, I had undertaken research on the most popular places to eat in the city. Thip Samai consistently came up. We landed at noon and immediately made plans to go there for dinner. As we were leaving our upmarket hotel waiting for a taxi, we chatted with our concierge, a local. When she heard we wanted to eat pad thai, she said the best place according to locals was Thip Samai. Of course we were thrilled to get this confirmation.

The restaurant is in China Town and spills over onto the side walk. It was a bit far from our hotel in Sukhumvit and not very close to the BTS or MRT lines. You know you've found the right place because it is the only such restaurant we saw in Thailand with a line, of Thai's and foreigners. We got a table and service is very quick and efficient. We ordered 2 of the famous egg-wrapped pad thai. I must add that we consider ourselves pad thai lovers and have tasted it in all forms and were anxious to see what the big deal was.

There was an indeed a big deal. The pad thai, which arrived within minutes, was sublime. Thip Samai have elevated the humble pad thai into a work of art. Moist, fragrant, layers of flavor and perfectly cooked noodles. The egg is simply the cherry on top and their opportunity to brag! Judging by the fact that the restaurant had more locals than foreigners and everyone was happy, I think we are not the only one's to enjoy it.

The average seated time was about 20 mins and tables were cleared and prepared quickly, ready for the next ravenous bunch. At Thb70 a plate, you could satisfy your stomach and not break the bank.

Don't you dare visit Bangkok without a visit to this landmark, your stomach will thank you.

The place and the food did not disappoint. It deserves all the accolade. You can watch your order being cooked at the front of the shop. The skill was outstanding, a few flip of the wok and it was done. The taste, excellent. I find it a bit sweet. If you have to watch your sugar level, avoid.
