“Great hotel, close to Nana station on skytrain, near the action but not too close!!”
Reviewed January 24, 2010

Great hotel, 2 mins from Nana Skytrain station. Hotel has a tuktuk to the end of the road if you don't want to walk and often stopped and picked us up if we were walking down the street.

Room was great. Small kitchenette and wet room. Sliding partition wall to make a bedroom seperate from the sitting/dining area. Flat screen tv on the wall that could slide between the bedroom and sitting area.

Breakfast was nice. Thai style rather than western food, but no complaints from us, why bother coming to Thailand to eat a full English!

self service Laundrette was on our floor and was a reasonable price. If you don't want to do your own washing there is also a laundrette at the end of the road.

Also at the end of the road is an Internet cafe, a couple of nice restaurants, 7/11, bars and tailors shops. Short walk down Sukhumvit for some western bars showing all the football from home, the usual fast food outlets and a VW camper van which is actually a bar!!

Overall, great hotel, great location and excellent value for money.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The rooms are excellent, clean and comfortable bed. The service is good. Breakfast is good as well. Well situated to experience the real Bangkok active life... close to the Skytrain.
Would recommend this place to all my friends. Quality/price - it's a great deal.

My feedback with regards to Citadines Soi 8.

Rooms : We had a 2 bedroom apartment. Rooms were generally clean. Just 2 points to highlight. The rooms had a musty smell that seemed to come from the air con units. There was also half a pack of peanuts that was left in the mircowave by the previous guests that was not cleared by the housekeeping staff. Compared with other hotels and serviced apartments I had stayed in bangkok, the housekeeping in Citadines isn't as thorough. For example, they didn't top up tissue paper, shampoo and soap unless asked. They would top up 3 bottles instead of 4 bottles of drinking water. They wouldn't clear the plates and bowls for you or put them back to the cabinet after they had dried. They tend to neglect or ignore the small details.

Service : I rank it the lowest of all the hotels and apartments I had stayed in bangkok. After 2 hours of traffic jam from the airport, it would be nice to be greeted with a smile when we checked in. Instead when we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted by cold hard stares. No smiles, no greetings. There was also a female night shift staff who really irked me with her attitude. I find her rude when she continued doing her things when being asked questions. She didn't smile and she was downright unapproachable. In fact, alot of their staff are like that. We decided to minimise all contacts with their staffs. Anything that we were unsure, we checked the internet. One of the staff who was the hotel's tutut driver asked us whether we needed taxi and kept offering his friend's contact. It just came across to us that their staff cannot be trusted.

Food : We only ate the hotel's breakfast so I cannot comment on the menu the restuarant offer. Breakfast was limited but sufficient to fill the tummy.

Facitlies : Some are not well designed. The bathroom tend to flood and the sink was placed in a bad location. Water would spill to the living room floor when washing plates and bowls. Cable TV reception wasn't great. The water pressure wasn't constant. But these are small issues which we could live with and didn't really bother us. As a regular business traveller, these are the areas that we can overlooked. I just highlight the points here for all to note.

Other considerations : The roads leading to Soi 8 where Citadines is located are constantly jammed. So, taxis are not an option for us if we did not want to be caught in a jam. For some places like Chinatown which cannot be assessed by MTR, we will have to resort to tutut. But be prepared to be charged exorbitant fees for the rides by tutut. As far as possible, we tried to travel to all places by MTR.

Conclusion : When my husband and I return to bangkok again (which we will due to business), I would certainly not stay in Citadines.

Was there last weekend for my partner's birthday. Read the reviews from tripadvisor stating their good experiences thus decided to try. Price was relatively reasonable but being a frequent traveller to Bangkok, this hotel is terrible. First we were given a non-smoking room that smelled like insecticide spray. The room was okay but showers with pathetic hot water pressure. Shopped till late and wanted to have supper to find out that they only served till 10.30pm. Fine, I may be a little spoilt but when requesting for additional pillows, they ran out!! On the next day, we decided to have breakfast in bed, to realise that breakfast had to be served for 1 hour. Why? Cos they had to make a poor guy walk up and down cos none of them understood more than 50% in English.(But yet they draw up an English menu which no one understood)He had to bring additional stuff which they left out from my meal. To make matters worst, the undrunk orange juice that tasted like red chili padi OJ was left in the room with unfinished food from breakfast on the coffee table. Even after the room was made up. Well maybe they thought we still wanted it, but was left there the next day until we left it outside the room door the food was nicely placed on the floor outside the room till we checked out. The left over food just attracted flies and such. Truly disgusting. I totally discourage this "aparthotel".

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in November. We had an easy check in and out, with no surprises. There was internet in the rooms for laptops and wifi in the lobby which worked great for our iphone. The rooms were comfortable and clean and perfect for what we were looking for. The free breakfast in the morning was good, nothing fancy, but just what we needed. The location is great with many good restaurants and pubs close and great access to the skytrain. There's always many cabs out front if you need transportation.
I would definately stay here again!

I love this place!! You're 5 minutes from the hustle & bustle of Soi Sukhumvit but it's like being in a different world, it's so quiet...the only place to stay in BKK for me from now on...but don't tell everyone!

  • Liked — EVERYTHING
  • Disliked — Pool could be bigger....but hey who cares!

There were 4 of us in the 2-bedroom suite apartment. The apartment is small and the rooms as well! It was cozy enough for us, very clean and nice furnishings. Well stocked bathroom amenities and kitchen items. Bottles of water, coffee, tea, etc.
The breakfast was terrible. Not much selection and not tasty either.
Service was nice and friendly. They had a tuk-tuk to transport us back and forth from the hotel and nearest BTS station.
I have to comment on the WI-FI, they should provide free WI-FI for all floors. It was too troublesome for me to come down and use it at the lobby every night. And the swimming pool is pathetic - small, shallow and looks dirty.
Overall, I will try to stay some place else.
