“2 nights of modern urban leisure”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

I spent 2 nights here with friends. Receptionists are accommodating. Just approach them and they could arrange everything, from room services to wake-up call and airport transfer. There's a free tuk-tuk service to main road if you don't want a moderately-long walk. Room is equipped with kitchen utensils, iron and microwave. Their digital-cards which you could use as elevator and room keys provided a more sense of security. The hotel has a small infinity pool, gym and laundry area.

Room Tip: They could convert the sofa to an extra bed in case you want a triple room.

First time staying in the Citadines Sukhumvit 8. As I was travelling with another 3 friends, I booked the 2 bedroom apartment because we wanted a place to hang out and chill and talk late into the night. I felt that an apartment would be perfect with a dining area and kitchen!

We checked in the apartment late at around 11pm, only to be informed that the room that we booked was not available due to a faulty aircon that was not fixed yet. That was not welcoming news as the only thing on my mind at that point was to take a shower and crash. The offered us 2 standard rooms (studio, I believe?) and said that we can check into the 2 bedroom the next day.

The studio was pretty well thought out. There are sliding doors to separate the bed from the kitchenette and the living area. The TV slides, so you can push it to the living area or into the bedroom area. Wash basin and shower/ commode areas are separate and the shower area even has a ledge that you can sit on. The bed is a standard Queen size, which may be a tad small if you're on the big side. There was also a writing desk. Basically, what you see in the pictures provided on the website is what you get.

The 2 bedroom apartment was huge. It consisted of a Master bedroom with a double bed with ensuite bathroom and another bedroom with 2 single beds. There was a common toilet in the living area - the shower and commode were separate. The Master bedroom was long. It can easily fit in another roller bed. The other bedroom was much smaller.

Both types of apartments came with a induction stove, microwave, plates, glasses, frying pan, fridge, utensils and cutlery.

The good:
- Extremely good customer service. The manager and front desk were extremely apologetic and I must say their service recovery is really good. The manager was not around when we checked in at night. But he located us at the cafe during breakfast even before we enquired about the shift to the 2 bedroom. He apologized that there were no 2 bedroom apartments available for the 2nd night and offered to shift us to a better studio. We declined because it didn't make much sense to keep shifting. He then offered to book us a complimentary limousine service transfer back to the airport.

- While the Citadines is located really far into Soi 8, the 24/7 Tuk Tuk service is a god send. Just let the front desk know and the tuk tuk sends you to the Nana station. On the way back, just call the apartment front desk and they will send the tuk tuk to the same drop off point to pick you up. They can also send you to the 7-11 which is in the middle of the Soi. So you get a really good location that is near the Nana BTS, at the heart of Sukhumvit but yet enjoy the peace from the maddening crowd.

- loads of sockets around, so there's not need to fight. And some of the sockets are international sockets, so even if you forget your adaptor, no need to fret.

- You need to slot in your room key to access the lift. That's a good thing for female travellers.

The not so good
- Do not expect a fantastic spread for breakfast. The cafe is really small and the spread is really limited. They can cook various types of eggs (Thai omelette, Masala, Scrambled. I recommend the masala) with either bacon, ham, pork or chicken sausage. But this is Bangkok where there are a lot of food options out there and you will be eating 24/7.

- The swimming pool is really just a pool. Don't expect to swim laps, just get in and soak. But then, this is Bangkok where you are likely not to spend a lot of time in your room. You do get a good view and it gives a really good respite in the hot weather and after all that shopping.

- bring your own tooth brush and tooth paste. It is not provided.

- The 2 bedroom apartment smelled a bit musty. But then again we were not in the room most of the day and after turning on the air con, the smell went away.

Overall, I would stay at the Citadines again. It's a good option for big groups.

Room Tip: If you are going for the 2 bedroom apartment, try to get the corner unit. It's larger! And try n...

Second time staying in the same place. Stayed for 4 nights with my family. Really convenient location and reasonably priced. Staff's service is top notch and very helpful. Plenty of 7-11 along the way to grab whatever you need.

Generally the apt suits our family very much. Especially having a cooking and dining area. We had a LO with us and had to cook some porridge fr her so it was good the apt came with full cooking utensils and a microwave. It was also helpful fr my dad who loves to have plenty of fruits daily and he was delighted to be able to store up and cut his fruits all time- just like home fr him.

The apt size was good and suits us too, though the 2nd room could be bigger in size will be great. The toilet and bathroom fr the 2nd room was kinda damp smell. Could be improved though.

There wasn't much view but we were lucky to have some nice view of the neighbour wt gorgeous garden. But it doesnt bother us much as Bangkok is a place fr shopping and dining!

Location is average as there wasn't much interesting shops or restaurants around, pretty basic shops such as 7- eleven, dining restaurants and massage shops. You need to walk across the pedestrian walk way to get to the grocery supermarket, fair enough though for the price we had paid fr Citadines 8.

Service was average. My husband and I took our LO swimming at their mini pool, she loves it very much. Unfortunately we lost a little cup toy there as it was wash out by the pool waves. I requested the front off staff to check for me but they never get back to me.

Overall we had a good stay and hope that they could be more child friendly service residence .

I stayed in this hotel with my family from 24th May to 29th May 2013. As regards to location , it is bang in the city and near to the skytrain station NANA. Hotel staff is warm and friendly. I also availed services of the travel counter in this hotel and was very satisfied with the overall experience. Once booked, you are picked up and dropped at the hotel and there is a guide with you all the time. There are Lots of eateries available in the nearby area. You can also order food over phone

One more information - local tourist operators do get some concession in the entrance fees of various attractions , hence bit of a bargaining does work. It was a two bedroom service apartment with all the amenities like kitchen, fridge, iron, LCD TV and it also has common internet terminals & washing machines. Rooms are compact yes clean and modern. Overall we were happy to stay here and recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: Go for rooms on the higher floor, view will be slightly better

I stayed at The Citadines for 4 Nights with 2 friends of mine. We had taken the 2 Bedroom apartment in the hotel with a fully equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms and a small n cozy living room. It is a centrally located hotel with two 7/11's just a minutes walk away. They have their own TUK TUK which provides free services till the start of the street and back to the hotel. A 5 mins walk to the NANA BTS station. The Terminal 21 mall is about 10 mins walk. We reached quite in the early hours of morning and way before the checkin time but they provided us the apartment as it was ready. Nearby is the famous Soi 12 with 2 amazning clubs and a brilliant thai restaurant called 'The Cabbage and Condoms'. There is a small bar on the ground floor of the hotel with an open roof which serves drinks as well as Sheeshas. All in all a good place to stay at with reasonable prices.

Room Tip: The Apartments in the hotel are good and when travelling with friends as the per head costs gets a l...

We have stayed here several times usually for several weeks at a time. Our latest visit was for 3 weeks and we were very happy with the place. It offers everything we need and is conveniently located. Room design is just fantastic and we appreciate the kitchenette. TV offers many different channels and the staff are mainly very pleasant. We will probably stay here again in the future as we find it so comfortable.
