I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was wonderful, the service excellent, and the pool amazing. If there was one gripe, it was the fact there weren't enough sunbeds, I think only 5. Apart from that, it is in an excellent location near Soi Cowboy. When in Bangkok will definitely stay here again. Although at £50 per night it would be only as a special treat for a few days, not for a week or more, as it wouldn't be in my budget.

Things I liked about Admiral Premier Bangkok:

1. Lovely roof top pool with a jacuzzi and with view over the city and even a gym. It wasn't busy during my stay although I imagine it could get cramped if everyone decided to sunbathe at the same time. Took a cracking pic of sunrise from this spot.

2. The location is set back from Sukhumvit road by about 500 yards. This means you are close to the sky train and all the major roads but it's very quiet. There are some nice little restaurants dotted around the neighbourhood as well as decent massage parlours, bars, pubs and street food. If you fancy a bit of the other there is a den of iniquity called Soi Cowboy which offers a multitude of sins and it's no more than five mins away. The hotel allows 'guests'.

3. The staff are efficient, speak reasonably good English (especially on reception) and the restaurant staff are just lovely. So sweet, smiling and fun. This makes memories for me.

4. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. I could get fast internet which is very useful.

5. The breakfast, while being the odd mix of what Thais imagine westerners eat (hot dog sausages and ham in hot water???) and local breakfast dishes, the food is plentiful. The chefs cook eggs to order. You can also get a half decent espresso based coffee. Ask for a two shot espresso for a fuller flavour. The restaurant also has one of those push button coffee machines to which one helps oneself but I'm a coffee snob so avoided this.

6. There are plenty of places to lounge about in the hotel if you so wish just to relax; both in the lobby and in the restaurant area.

7. Hot water, a proper bath, slippers and gowns, and a valuable safe for peace of mind.

8. Reception will store your bags when you check out if you have some time to kill before transit.

9. It's not a tacky hotel. It's relaxed, simply decorated, and the guests tend to be east Asian, western European including British and north American which makes for a peaceful time.

10. The beds are wide and firm and the curtains really do black out the light for a good night's sleep.

Things I didn't like:

1. The A/C in my room got progressively rattlier and noisier. I should have said something but was normally drunk on my return so sleeping was easy. I mentioned it on my last morning and the reception noted it and I imagine got it fixed.

2. The price of rooms fluctuated massively. I arrived on the 17 December and was paying around 1800 baht for four nights. When I phoned to re-book for five days at the end of my stay the reception quoted over 3500 baht per night. I understand it's the height of the holiday season and New Year, but come on people. A little bit of loyalty to past customers wouldn't go amiss.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: When you arrive listen to the A/C to see if it's quiet or rattly. Complain immediately if it's noisy.

We stayed 3 night at the admiral, we enjoyed very much, lovely clean accommodation, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast and dinning room, fast wii fi, awesome location ,pool is great very intimate, each time we went to the pool there was no more then 5 people max, which is nice because then its more intimate and quite.

Only thing that bother us was that in our balcony there was no chairs to sit on, and the AC engine (outside) was making a lot of noise, they could use a change.
Other then that we had a great experience, defiantly be coming back there on our next trip to BKK, good value for your money

Stayed here for 3 nights. As a few posters said, finding it can be a bit of a challenge, so it's good to go out armed with a diagram of where it is if you are getting back by tuk tuk or cab.

First impressions was that the hotel's done a good job presenting itself, highlighting all the positives.

Check-in at around 11pm was a rather protracted affair, made it in the end though.

We stayed in Admiral Suite, which is really a one bedroom apartment. Plenty of space, though you can see that this hotel was designed as an apartment building before being converted to a hotel.Things like lino rather than carpet, the corridors, a slightly more basic bathroom than you'd get in a similar level hotel. Bed was very nice though and not much noise from the street.

The location was good, 10 min walk to skytrain and large shopping malls similar distance. There are also a few good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.

Nice rooftop pool, great view though pool is more for wallowing than lap swimming due to size. There's a sparse gym next to it, no bar there - you have to call down.

Only meal we took was breakfast - adequate though not in a 4 star category. Service overall was ok, though again probably not at that level - with the exception of the restaurant staff who were very good indeed.

Overall, the very big plus for this hotel is its price. If you want 4 starish room and location but without the price and don't need all the add-ons whether service or plush facilities, then the Admiral really is a great option.
