Fantastic meal, wine very expensive due to import duty, so stick to beers and cocktails unless you're celebrating a special occasion. The view is excellent, service is great, well worth a visit.

Started as usual at the sky bar for a few drinks with friends and then headed to Breeze for dinner. I took help from the servers this time and was served an amazing starter which were shirmp balls with wasabi and amazing sauces in shooter glasses. The wine bottle I ordered was also good really good, but the star of the night was a recommended beef dish for main course which was just devine. I will be visiting again.

Just so you can gauge this review; I set my dining standard at the 'Michelin Star' level, so I have a bit of an idea about what is generally good and bad in a restaurant. I don't really care about price, because for a great dining experience, like any form of art, there is no price.

So I was very pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant as good as this in a city that, for some reason, has no Michelin Star rated restaurants.

I had the tasting menu, along with the wine pairing - something I am usually a bit suspicious of because often the wine pairings aren't that good.

But in this case, another pleasant surprise. The wine selections were spot on for each of the 5 dishes, even a bit cheeky. I would never have thought of pairing a NZ Pinot with a fish dish, but the selection worked very well, complimenting the spicy sauce to perfection.

So too was the Bandeaux very well matched to the wok fried beef dish, and the South African Chenin Blanc went perfectly with the crab and caviar starter.

Each dish was perfectly prepared and offered a perfect balance of flavors while at the same time providing a taste segue to the next dish.

Food and wine - spot on.

For service; also excellent. Attentive, friendly wait staff, always there but never 'in your face'. The service standard was equal to any of the best restaurants in the world I have been to.

My only slight criticism of this place is the decor. While the view was spectacular, I thought the dark tiled floor was a bit cold and harsh, and it didn't appeal to me. But this is such a minor point I only mention it to provide some contrast to an otherwise all rave review.

I will mention price; because I have read a few other reviews that complaint that it was 'expensive'. Well, if your normal dining fare is a $5 hamburger, then yes, this is expensive, so save yourself the anxiety and don't come to this place.

The tastings menu price was 4,500 Baht and the wine pairing was 2,500 Baht, which is a total of around US$250. A very reasonable price for a meal and excellent wine at a top class restaurant. I would be expecting to pay a lot more in say Sydney, London or New York.

Vertigo at Banyan Tree gives you the best views of BKK, but Breeze has the best setting. Great attention has been paid to the details, and it makes the overall experience definitely breath-taking. The food was excellent, staff attentive, but having dinner amongst the unique architecture, from the glass walkway, to the steps down to the dining area, to our dinner with a brilliant view made it one of my biggest highlights of BKK.
