I second the motion most of the review that the hotel is very basic in terms of service and amenities. What is funny really is the pool on the top floor is like a kiddie pool and looks dirty. The view of the balcony room in the 4th floor is just roofs of the neighboring houses. Plus the doors are locked and cannot be opened. Most of the programs of tv channels are in Thai. The location however is strategic since its very near to the pratunam bargain market and just several minutes walk to pantip. There is however a scarcity of resto near the hotel but there is a 7/11 store nearby. Courtesy of the staff I think is not part of their service but when you greet them first and smile they do the same. Overall however its just a hotel where you can have a descent shower and rest your tired body for a night sleep after a tour and shopping otherwise there is nothing more you can expect much.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 4th for has good wifi signal...

I happened to chance on the White Palace Hotel located in the Pratunaam area through a friend. We were 3 friends visiting bangkok for the first time and were a bit apprehensive of what to expect especially the part about a good hotel considering we were not familiar with the localities or routes.
Luckily, the cabs seem to be quite familiar with the hotel and we were driven directly to the hotel from the airport.

The front desk staff seem attentive but don't say much. We had made a booking through www.hotels2thailand.com for 1 day and we paid THB 1900 online. While we were there we decided to extend since we found the hotel very clean, quiet and tucked away at the end of the soi. The hotel charged us just THB 1800 for 3 of us in a room with an extra bed which we thought was great value for money considering some of the other hotels in the hood were loud, noisy, seedy, shabby etc etc etc.

What's more, the hotel is so convenient, as you walk up the street, you are bang in the middle of Pratunam's wholesale street market, up ahead (barely a ten minutes walk) through a vibrant array of goods being marketed, you find yourself at the Pratunam Diamond & Platinum Mall as well as several other malls on the same street. A cab ride there will cost you about 20THB but the TUK TUKS tend to try and make a quick buck so may charge about 40-50THB.

Still further ahead (a total of 15 mins from the hotel if you are walking), you will find huge malls like Central World Plaza, Siam Paragon & a Sky Train station, Siam which will connect you to almost all tourist locations.

The breakfast buffet at the hotel was between 7am-10am and if you happened to drop in to the restaurant after 10am, the place is deserted. I was not very pleased with breakfast and managed to eat only cornflakes & youghurt all the 3 days, the fresh juice appeared to be of the canned variety though it was tasty, there was toast, jam/butter, ham & bacon (which seemed to drip with fat) so i declined, thai noodles and thai friend rice, a little bit of fresh fruit lacking in variety. I think if the Hotel had to plan a better menu to suit global tastes, it would add to the benefits.

I think the staff could have been more friendly and helpful, one morning we were late and missed breakfast, when we asked a woman who was in the restaurant if we could order coffee, she seemed really angry and was rather unpleasant, not something you would expect of thai service. Was quite angry at that. There is also a foot spa in the hotel on the ground floor and the staff there are quite nice and they are open till rather late, 11pm I think.

Overall, the hotel is not among the cheapest, if a budget is what commands your pocket BUT, the hotel is quite nice, clean, convenient (especially after a tiring day shopping in the heat) with a pool on the roof which can be quite a relief as most days are very hot. We didn't order much room service but for those who like street food, the entire street leading up to the hotel is lined with vendors selling plenty of variety in street food, there is also a mall very close to the Hotel called Indra Mall which houses a McDonalds outlet.

Also worth a mention, is the delicious fruit being sold on the streets in little cycle carts, you can buy papaya, guava, mango melon etc for about THB 15-20 which is out of this world.

Room Tip: Take a room higher up to avoid noise during the day

Nothing great to write about this hotel. Its location is good for those who want to invade Indra market, Prathunam Centre and Markets around. Shopping for 24 hours is possible if you are staying in this locality.

Rooms are very basic and not clean. Service is poor and so is the breakfast. The staff at the restaurant are rude and not responsive. If you want to do a low cost trip, than this hotel is ok.
Looks like a hotel run by family without professional help.

Indians have plenty of choice for indian food but try Thai style fish (street food) which is available in the evenings.

The location is definitely GREAT, very near all the shopping areas like MBK and Platinum Mall etc.. The rapid train station is also in an area behind the hotel and its really easy to take the train down to the Chatuchak weekend market or to the airport. You can also hail a tuk-tuk very easily from the hotel. just walk down the streets near the hotel and there are plenty of street stalls that sell food!

However, that being said, White Palace itself needs to work on its cleaniness.
The swimming pool on the top level looks like it needs to be refurbished and is really dirty.
I wanted to take a swim but upon seeing the pool's condition, i decided to give it a miss.

Also. me and my partner were given a room with a balcony area, but it was dirty and had moss all over. There were bed bugs too and i got bitten quite badly.
The hotel front desk were rather efficient and allowed us to change rooms after we raised our concerns.
However, the staff that came to inspect our bedbug infested room told us we had to pack our stuff straight away and shift to the new room. Due to the hurry of having to pack up immediately to shift to the other room, i left behind one of my belongings (which i have never brought out of the room even once). I tried to ask the hotel staff to help look for it, and also went back to the previous room to check too with the staff. Couldn't be found at all! :(

Lastly, when I return to the hotel late at night, there will be people loittering around, and sitting ouside the hotel, or the convenience store ouside. It's weird because i see them there all 4 nights i stayed.

Great location for shoppers. I loved their buffet breakfast. The first time i stayed a got a room in the 2nd floor with balcony which was really good but the second time i went i got a room on the 3rd floor without a balcony. I would still go back to this hotel because of the value for price!
