“Lub D - great hostel and lovely people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

I stayed here a few times in October and November 2013 and each time was the same (albeit different) great experience. I found all the people who worked there were warm, friendly and helpful. The beds and rooms were clean and comfortable with good size lockers were provided in each of the rooms and the shower cubicle were a decent enough size with the showers pumping good hot water through at a decent enough rate to be able to enjoy scrubbing away the grime of the day, or to freshen and wake up in the morning. There are also cleaning facilities there in the form of washing machines and tumble dryers for some same day clean clothes action. In the lobby there is a travel desk open in the day to help you plan any further trips away and the bar is usually well stocked with plenty of beer to get you through an evening either around the large communal table / area inside, or chilling on the steps at the front of the building with other travellers and fantasic and friendly members of staff. Maybe also worth mentioning that I was carrying medical supplies with me at the time that this hostel were more than happy to help me keep in the correct cool environment, for which I will be eternally grateful. The continental breakfast that are available in the morning are good value and provide a good bit of carb loading to get the day started. Awesome place

Lub*d Silom may seem like a pricey hostel to the average budget traveller, but for what you pay you get so much more back

We stayed in a railway twin, which had super thick mattresses, lovely pillows, plugs next to your bed so you can charge your phone/tablet etc or just use it in bed whilst you charge it. The room comes with air conditioning and little lights in all the right places. It also came with a desk which was useful.

Another amazing feature of Lub*d is that the Wifi is astounding, I had a completely clear Skype conversation just on my tablet in the room, it was an interview and there were no technical problems.

The bathrooms are also fantastic, with hot showers 24/7 and shampoo dispensers on the wall. You also get a new towel everyday, although I think if you are in a dorm you have to pay 50 baht for this.

The bar is also brilliant, serving beer at reasonable prices, but the staff are always happy to give you cups if you want to buy your own. It also does simple food, snacks and that sort of thing. Breakfast is also an option, with a croissant, toast, jam, a banana and tea/coffee coming to 80 baht (I think).

There is also a brilliant travel agent, who organised a four day trip to Koh Tao, including our PADI scuba diving open water qualification and accomodation for about 9400 baht. She also organised the transport down there.

What I'm trying to say is that Lub*d is everything you could possibly need in a hostel. I met some great friends and had an absolute blast. Couldn't give it a higher review.

Room Tip: Any rooms will be incredible, the railway twins are on the third floor.

We stayed in this hostel the first night we got to Bangkok. It was super clean, we stayed in the ladies' only dorm, with ladies' only bathroom. Super clean, spacious and comfy beds. The lockers provided are big enough for yourbackpack (but you need your own padlock). The staff at the desk were really helpful with directions to restaurants and all that sort of thing. The Silom area is nice, good food down the road, a market up the way. We met a bunch of lovely travellers here too,it's well designed with the front and the computer area for chatting. Overall, definitely worth the €10 pppn

Very nice, good to.meet fellow travellers. Very clean although bed bugs, also is priced about the same for a bed in a dorm as for sharing a room with a friend in a better placed hotel with better facilities. That said, i did have a great time and other people were nice, and does have a reception capable of easily booking buses and accpmadation etc. The staff were also.helpful and polite and had good english.

Dear guest, we are very sorry about the incident. We take this issue most seriously and we can’t accept this to happen at our facility. We had blocked the room that you had stayed, and done the very detail inspection to the room. We will not release this room, or any other rooms for service unless we are confident that it meets our high standard. We will not settle for anything less on this aspect. We thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sincerely, Lub d Management

We booked a double room on the 4th floor and thought it was just awesome. The downstairs area is also really cool. A little bit far from some of the more popular sites but a nice place to come back to after a hard day exploring.

Amazing hostel. Friendly staff, well cleaned and organized beedroms, the bathrooms were amazingly neat and the shower was just great! The breakfast the hostel offers is simple but saved my morning every day! Also, Silom road is just one block way, meaning you have many options to eat pretty much anything you are looking for. One tip: just across the street from the hostel there is a local place where they make great and cheap Thai food!

Also, if you want to stay out of the crazyness that is Khaoan Road but at the same time you want to be in a hostel where you are able to meet new people and to socialize, this is the place for you in Bangkok. This doesn't mean you won't be able to party with people staying here as well... The social area is great and there was not a single night I was not able to meet some cool people to either go to a club or to walk through the city at night or at day. We would just share a cab to wherever we wanted to go.

Lubd Silom is great for so many things. The location is in downtown Bangkok, yet the area is quiet and not at all crowded. It has the best group of people for who are knowledgable, guiding and yet very friendly. the hostel itself is quite chic and this ensures that a tasteful group of people visit the same. This place was almost a confluence of nations, travel lovers from all over the world. This has a cool women's area but unfortunately one has to climb 4 flights to get there, that was the only drawback. The other being having to buy drinking water at exorbitant price. Otherwise you get a really god worth of your money and a lovely travel experience. Lub D itself is an experience, unique to the chic, cute sexy spirit of Bangkok.

Room Tip: This place has many shops and eateries around. It has great internet. you can buy water, fruits and...
