We had read good reviews about this place. Even with people lining up outside. But the first sight of the restaurant wasn't very thrilling. It looks like your average street food stall, with a buffet full of curries and korma's just as every road side restaurant. We have been sick quite a few times from these kind of places, so we were a bit cautious...

But then the food came out. Not very large portions. But te average price of a dish is somewhere between 50 and 70 bath. But the flavours just burst out of the food! We ordered a beef korma and a chicken tandoori which were absolutely delicious. The rotis a little sweet, very nice! A big surprice and a quick bite ended up in a true feast! Guve it a try!

Have known place for many years now, great if you love Indian roti breads served with lots of toppings this is place to come, also have matabas which is a roti bread filled with different filings, be prepared to wait as usually full of locals, could do with a coat of paint though :-)

Rota Mataba has been located in the same little "hole in the wall," across from the Phra Sumen Fort, on Phra Athit Road for decades. The place never changes and the lines of people waiting to buy the tasty rotis never diminish. This mom-and-pop operation has zero ambiance (if ever a place to sit, it's at a small folding chair and table on the sidewalk), so you might plan from the outset to grab your order and snack on it in the small park across the street. Roti Mataba has a tiny non-descript handpainted sign hanging outside the single door, but you'll most likely first spot the place by the line of customers that is permanently waiting outside. You may have to wait in line for several minutes for your turn to place an order, but the wait is well worth it. Roti Mataba serves up the most delicous rotis in all of Bangkok. There are lots of things to eat, drink and do on in this trendy section of Bangkok, but you haven't really been to Phra Athit Road till you've sampled this place's rotis!

A few few days ago while exploring the Phra Artit area of Bangkok´s Banglampoo district I came across this little restaurant its small place with some tables outside and some in a second floor though the outdoor tables are best as you get a good view of the Phra Sumen fortress which is right across the Phra Artit road.
The food was tasty, we had the chicken matba, somosas and a chicken curry with roti and for dessert some more roti with bananas and condensed milk over it all in all nice tasty food and the price a bargain we at less than 10usd for all that.
While the place is a bit rustic its got some character to it like most oldish restaurants and the location is excellent close to Kao San Road and the river Chao Praya.
Of course there are much better places to eat in the city but value for money, location and food is not a bad choice if you are around Phra Sumen fortress.
After lunch we had a coffe next door at Ann´s sweets right next door.

We came here on the recommendation of our guide book as well as trip advisor. The portions are small but so is the price. The food is tasty and different than your typical bangkok Thai food.
