we stayed in this hotel between 19/11/2012 to 22/11/2012 in room no.203.we would like to highlight some of the problems we faced during our stay in your hotel.
(1)The staff working at the reception are not well versed with english and cannot communicate properly with the guests.we also found them to be very unhelpful. They also charged us 70 bahts for two minutes call at the reception for which they didnt provide us the receipt.
(2)The staff at the restaurant where buffet breakfadtwae served were very rude. They didnt provide us a cup of hot milk when asked.
(3)We were disturbed at night time due to lot of noise in the corridoor which was not taken care of by your staff when told at the reception .
(4) when we checked in, the bathroom was not cleaned properly.
In short we had a very bad experience and we will not recommend it to any of our friends.

Dear Mr Girish K,

Greetings from The Ecotel Bangkok.

First of all, thank you for your review on TripAdvisor about The Ecotel Bangkok.

Regarding your points, we do apologize that we did not give you the receipt. We do have the telephone charge rates in our in-room document.

For hot milk, it is not include in daily buffet breakfast. When guests ask for hot milk, it is an a-la-carte price. However, we do have milk available for cornflakes.

Noise at the corridor, we do apologize that it was noisy because other guests walking around.

Bathroom cleanliness, we do our cleaning regularly. We do apologize that it was not clean properly when you checked in.

However, even you had a negative impression of the hotel. We do hope that you will come back to Thailand again.

Have a nice day.

Thank you and best regards, Patralak

Be prepared to walk at least 10 - 15 mins to shopping area. Staff was just being polite, could be more friendlier. The shower temperature was not consistent, so did the aircond. No wifi at all! Complained to their staff, and they didnt even bother to check or apologise for poor connection. Overall still ok because it is a 3 star hotel, at least it was clean and quite.

Stayed here for 2 nights, Sept. 26, 27, 2012 (first visit). Arrived late at night at Suvarnabhumi Airport and took 11PM Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link (40 baht = CAD$1.25) to Ratchaparop Station (pron. 'ratch-a-pa-ro'). Trip was 23 minutes. Had a detailed map (from Trip Advisor website) and walked, pulling my suitcase), from Station to hotel in under 15 min. Had to ask for directions only once. Ecotel is across street from Ramada so use this name if asking for directions or taking a taxi/tuk tuk.

Courteous staff at Reception with acceptable English. Hotel is about 15 min. walk from Platinum Mall for shopping. Bayoke Tower about 10 minutes by foot. 7/11 Store is 1 minute walk. Lots of tuk tuk's available 1 minute walk to the left (if facing Ramada). If looking for western standards, the best restaurant I could find close to the hotel was a 1 min. walk (Directions: If facing Ramada, walk 45 sec. to the left on the left side of street to the next corner). Food was very good here but a little more expensive than local Thai restaurants. Lots of other small Thai restaurants in neighbourhood that are clean, safe to eat at and cheap prices. Little or no English spoken at these places but most have picture menus

FACILITY - Good housekeeping throuhgout
--------------- Firm but comfortable bed
--------------- Quiet for sleeping
--------------- Western-style bathroom
--------------- Non-smoking facility (covered, non-air. con. smoking area off lobby between lobby and restaurant with tables where one can have a drink and use WIFI).
--------------- Free WIFI (password needed)
--------------- Restaurant looked pleasant. I did not eat at hotel.

Overall, in the Budget Hotel category, I would rate hotel 3 1/2 out of 5. If shopping is the main purpose of your trip, however, I would recommend 48 room Buccaco Hotel which is right in the midst of the shopping stalls but at the end of a quiet, safe alley (soi). Prices are slightly higher but, overall, more comfortable for westerners. Walk from Ratchaparop Station to this hotel is about 10 - 12 minutes.

The taxi driver took a while searching this hotel, cos even the Bangkok map do not show this hotel. Best to tell the driver, you are going Ramanda hotel , this Ramanda hotel is just opp Ecotel hotel.
There is a 7-11 just beside the hotel, it took me 15 mins walk to Platimum mall.

There are lots of foots massage parlors around this hotel.

Overall, room ok, breakfast ok, location ok, 2 / 3 days stay is ok! Not recommended for more than 4 days trip or more.

Room Tip: Mentioned Ramanda hotel

The place is really clean and well kept, the food is great (I love the banana spread) and the staff are accommodating. I don't have any qualms on the hotel itself, in fact I am even willing to give it a 5-star ------ well, if not only for its location. The hotel is too far from the nearest BTS (i.e. Chitlom), you have to walk at least 20 minutes (if you have a fast pace) or more than 30 mins (if your'e a slowpoke). Still, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, though I wouldn't recommend walking to the hotel (it's too far especially if your'e dead tired already from the day's walking's). It's better to take a cab (35-45 baht), it's cheap anyway and you'll arrive at the hotel quick and sweat-free!

Couldn't wait to share the bad experience about Ecotel after 6 days 5 night stay. The free Wifi was not accessible on my friend's room. The noise produced in the corridor by other rooms were easily heard, example, when one closed the door, even if the room were not very near to ours, we always thought that our rooms were knocked instead. Receptionists were still ok, not much of a problem, most of them quite polite and could speak basic English so were the Buffet attendant. Buffet spread were great, asian food. BUT wait! the room service seriously sucks big big time, so were the shower head water. We swore never will we stay at Ecotel ever again.

Firstly, we booked 2 rooms, and my friend had a warm welcomed by 1 Cockroach upon entering the room. We didn't complained to the hotel management because we were thinking "it's a 3 star Hotel, so we bet 3 star hygiene were given? No?"

Secondly, I thought there should be portable kettle to boil water for coffee etc but no, we have to keep on dialling for room service to have our pot of hot water served each time. Never mind, no big deal. Whenever the hot water was brought over to our room, not once did the room service attendant smiled. As if we owe them one million dollars, I'm not kidding. I was wondering if the hotel ever ever educate their room service attendant with CUSTOMER SERVICE?

Thirdly, the shower experience is the worst I've seen. Initially I was prepared that the showering head water to be of inconsistent since I've read reviews saying the shower head water always switch between small and large pressure. The worst is, it is far way more disappointing I can imagine. Besides having inconsistent water pressure, each time the water pressure decrease, the water will be SO hot, and vice versa. I stayed more than half an hour inside trembling to try to adjust the shower head so that I'm able to enjoy acceptable water temperature, but no, none of the tries succeeded. I'm always having VERY hot water on my scalp as if my scalp is going to be worn off anytime even if the water level was SLIGHTLY adjusted on the red section (Red for Hot, Blue for Cold). But my friend in the other room didn't experience bad showering head.

Fourthly, the room service. VERY POOR. On the third day morning of our stay, we dialled for room service for the hot water to be replaced, and also a new pair of slippers because they threw away our worn slippers WITHOUT replacing it, and we waited over half hour more and the water isn't here, so we went out to have our breakfast. Fine. When we went back to our rooms, we dialled again. We started calling since 7pm for 3 times. Each times we given them a grace time of nearly 1 hour. So it meant that we waited a total of 3 hours and called 3 times each, just to have the pot of hot water served/new slippers. For the first call, the attendant replied "Ok, sure.", for the second time "Your hot water will be served soon", third time "Okok" In a very impatient tone. My friend was the one who called and his tone is very polite and soft tone, mind you. I almost flipped the chair and wanted to go down and scold the receptionist since none of the room service is there to serve us. HOWEVER, the hot water and slippers were sent to our room only the next day evening when we were back around 7 to 8pm. We decided not to make the matter worst, because the room service surely have all the keys accessible to our room. We wouldn't want any our items to be stolen nor ransacked since we knew how bad their room attendant service can be, we didn't want to risk.

I hope they have the room service attendants trained well. No matter how many stars a hotel has, customer service must be there. Even though it is a 3 stars hotel, customer needs shouldn't be ignored. Ecotel room service and shower head water must be improved and reinforced, if not I believe there's a high chance of customers who wouldn't want to go back for stay again.

Stayed overnight on a twin bed room.

Location: Hotel located near Paladium Mall and in front of two other hotels. It took hours for us to locate the hotel since not all cab drivers know the place. It would be much easier to use the airport link. A 7-11 store is located near the hotel.

Check-in: Early checked in but since we booked for two rooms, we have to wait for 15 mins as advised for the other room to be available. Have to follow it up though. Their lobby attendant/bellboy helped us bring our luggage to our room. Have to pay first once checked-in which is kind of disappointing since most hotels ask for payments once you are about to check-out.

Room: Clean room. Spacious enough for a small hotel. Nice light control remote in the bedside table in between the two twin beds and also controls the aircon. Bathroom is also clean. Toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, bathroom tissue and cotton buds), glasses and towels (hand and bath) are also provided. Cabinet and a mini refrigerator is also available with 2 complimentary bottled water inside. Hair blower is in the dresser drawer. Hallways are clean and quiet.

Food: Had late lunch at this Tom Yum Thai Restaurant at the side of the hotel. Delicious and affordable food. One viand is good for 2-3 persons already.

Wi-fi: Strong and fast wifi connection.

Clean, affordable and safe. Will definitely return to this hotel once I visit Bangkok again.

Room Tip: Location map is available at their website, it is much advisable to have a copy and show it to cab d...
