“Worth it!”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

This was probably the most fun I had in Taipei. I took a whole day to explore and went to every stop. There are tea houses and cafes at the very top (last stop) and a breathtaking temple at the second to last stop. Recommended!

“Crystal cable car is awesome!”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

It's good to go early, like before 11am cos the crowd really appears after that! We managed to reach before the real crowd came so didn't wait long for the crystal cable car. Normal cable car queue moves faster, but for the experience & money (same price!), crystal cable car is definitely worth the queue!!! Well, unless you're afraid of heights. Up the mountain, we didn't do much cos didn't feel like walking..sat at a nice Cat logo cafe & it's good! I think the rest would be good too. Awesome place just to chill after cable car ride. Go if you can. Can see Taipei 101 from the mountain too.

“Cheap gondola ride with excellent teahouses at Maokong”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

The gondola station is within 5-10min walking distance (unsheltered) from the Taipei Zoo MRT station. From this gondola station, it's a 20min ride up to the last (highest) station (MaoKong station). The gondola itself is very cheap with nice scenery along to way. There's option of taking the standard or "crystal" cabin. The price is the same for both cabins, as such, it's obvious that the queue for the crystal cabins are longer. Once at Maokong station, there're tonnes of teahouses for you to relax and enjoy tea/meal. Nice scenery in the area. Great place to just stroll and enjoy the atmosphere (if it's not raining!).

“Mountain View”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

The Maokong gondola is located a couple of blocks from the Taipei Zoo entrance and is well worth the approximate $3.50 ticket round trip. There are two different gondolas to choose from; regular and the crystal. The crystal has a glass floor in it to see the scenery below you as you ride to the top of the mountain. The line for the crystal gondola is to the far right and had a 30 minute wait at that time. This gondola has seating for five and the staff will organize you into the appropriate group sizes.
The regular gondola seats eight people and is much faster to board. All of the gondolas have a “Hello Kitty” theme.
The top of the mountain is where the tea unique to Taiwan is grown and has many tea houses along the road. You can walk on the side of the road and pass many of them. Most of them have wonderful views of the valley and Taipei skyline. The day I went there were some cherry blossoms in bloom which made for some very nice pictures. There is also a Buddhist temple on the mountain road and numerous vendors along the way.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

Easy to reach by metro. About a 5 minute walk from Taipei Zoo station. Great views and a nice walk at the end. Worth going to one of the tea houses at the end.
