“Good and clean room”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We stayed in the Quad room, which we heard from the staff that there was only one such room in the entire hotel. In our very large quad room there were 2 queen size beds which were very clean and comfortable. Room was very well appointed, not much view outside the window though. We had a huge bathroom, good size jacuzzi bath, separate shower cubicle and shower panel with massaging function. The only thing about this room is that it was located on the 8th floor and the lift only reached 7th floor. We had to carry our luggages up one floor to reach our room.

I tried using the laundry facility but was quite disappointed. Firstly the laundry room is located outside of the hotel, through a side door out to the side street and up a staircase. Even though it was still part of the hotel building but to walk out at night (I could only do my laundry at night, after a full day's sightseeing) in the winter season felt like it was too much of a hassle. Secondly it was pay per use, once for one wash cycle and once for one drying cycle (which were pre-programmed), unlike some other hotels that provide free self-service laundry. Laundry detergent was not provided either. Thirdly, after all the washing and drying, when I went to collect my clothes, none of them were dry. They were still dripping wet. I guess the dryer was not functioning.

Otherwise, everything else was good, clean and comfortable room, good breakfast spread, good location and polite staff.

I recently stayed at the Hsuanmei Hotel for four nights. The hotel is located in a primarily business area near the Jade Market and a 10 minute walk from the Zhongxiao Xinsheng MTR (subway) Station. The hotel is located in-between two other buildings with a an elevated highway in front of the hotel. My room had a view of the building next door, and based upon the configuration of the hotel I don't believe any of the rooms in the hotel has a nice view. Don't let that stop you from considering this hotel for your stay as the quality and comfort of the rooms, the helpful and friendly staff, and the very reasonable rates makes this hotel a solid choice when visiting Taipei. My room was near the front of the hotel but I did not experience any noise from the roadway.

My check-in was handled quickly and efficiently by front office staff that had a working knowledge of English. The room was large (by Asia standards for a room under US$90 per night) with new furnishings, was well appointed, and was spotlessly clean. All of the lights and other electronics were controlled by a master control box on the stand next to the bed. The air conditioning worked very well, especially important during the hot humid summers in Taipei. The room also had a large flat screen TV (with several English language channels), refrigerator, and guest safe. The queen size bed was firm, but comfortable, with a nice comforter on top and clean and crisp sheets.

The bathroom was large (again by Asia standards) with a separate bathtub and shower (I upgraded for a few dollars more for this type of bathroom), was well appointed with nice new fixtures, and again was spotlessly clean. Several bathroom amenities were provided.

A breakfast buffet was included with my room rate. The breakfast room was nicely appointed and had adequate seating for about 40+ people. I never had to wait or had a problem with finding a table when I went to breakfast between 8-9AM. The buffet included hot and cold selections, salads, cereals, breads, pastries, desserts, juices, coffee, and tea. My only criticism was that some of the fried foods (e.g. hash browns, fries, etc.) were not kept warm and thus became cold and soggy. I mentioned this to management. Overall, a very nice buffet.

Guests have access to a business center that has three computers with access to the Internet and also a printer. I believe there is also WiFi access in the rooms at no charge (although I did not make use of this amenity).

The closest MRT (subway) station is Zhongxiao Xinsheng which is an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel. From this station, it's only a few stops to Taipei Main Train and Bus Stations, and four stops to Taipei City Hall Station (where you can walk to Taipei 101). If you don't want to walk, taxis are plentiful and inexpensive, not only to the MRT station but to other parts of Taipei as well.

If you don't need a hotel room with a view and full guest services such as a restaurant, bar, gym, etc., the Hsuanmei Hotel offers comfort and great service at reasonable rates.

GETTING THERE

The Evergreen Airport Bus to / from TaoYuan Airport will get you to within a few blocks of the hotel. The cost is TWD$150 (about US$6) each way and takes about 60 minutes.. After immigration, follow the signs to the airport bus terminal. Disembark at STOP #10 (Evergreen Hotel). When you get on the bus you can show the driver the route map the ticket person will give you. Point to STOP #10 and the driver will alert you when the bus arrives at that stop. When you step off the bus, walk to your right to the intersection (ChangAn Road). Keep walking straight across the intersection and turn left when you reach the other side. Walk for two blocks to Jianguo North Road and turn right. The hotel is a few doors down on your right. It's an easy 7-10 minute walk. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the bus stop for about US$2.

From Songshan Airport, it's probably easiest to take a taxi to the hotel since the taxi fares are so reasonable.

We have stayed in Hsuan Mei Hotel many times for a few days in transit to and from China. We have always found the rooms clean, staff helpful and conveniently located. It is about a 10 min walk to MRT, 5 min to Jade market, and eating places are very close. It is a small hotel. Be sure to ask for a room away from the busy street. Will stay next time we visit Taipei.

After several hours of research on Hotels.com and tripadvisor.com, my girlfriend and I concluded that Beauty Hotel - Hsuanmei Boutique would be the best choice. At my arrival, we were greeted by a young receptionist, probably in his twenties, who requested to make a copy of my passport for identification. After that, we were handed our Breakfast tickets (complimentary FYI). The room was great for two people. It was very neat, and tidy. The housekeepers were extremely nice. We did not notice any smell that others have claimed. This is by far the best hotel around. It's 4 blocks away from the SongJiang MRT, 2 blocks away from the closest 7-Eleven and a block away from Bank of Taipei (Best currency exchange rate). As an FYI, do not go to the standard bank down the street or HSBC for currency exchange, RIP OFF!

I would rate this as a 3 - 3 1/2 star hotel. It's very comfortable. Breakfast is good, self-serve. No doubt that you will love it.

This is the worst hotel Ive stayed in Taipei. The rooms are very small and smell moldy and of cigarette smoke. The beds were very hard, felt like sleeping on plywood with a mattress pad.
Sheets weren't changed unless I removed them and put them on the floor. The location is right next to a highway. When you walk outside the polution is so bad you need a mask. Scooters everywhere. Front desk help does not speak English. There's nothing to see or do nearby. You have to take a taxi to go sightsee. I suggest spending an extra $20/nt. and stay at the Grand Hotel near the Shilin night market. I stayed there last year and it was a much better experience.

I stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite. The room was a good size and the bathroom was quite large. There was even a tv in the bathroom, but there were only 2 channels, one in Chinese, but I was shocked to find the other one was a porn channel. There was no warning about this, so it could be a surprise if you travel with children. The location is not convenient, about 10 to 15 minute walk to the nearest railway station, which can be difficult in the heat after a long day sightseeing. The breakfast was satisfactory, the staff friendly and there was a large and private business centre. For transfers back to the airport, don't take their shuttle for about $1300TW, when you can catch a bus a couple of blocks away outside the Evergreen Hotel for $139TW.
