“Fantastic place”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

I stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't fault the place.

I arrived early in the morning and no rooms were available for immediate check in so for a small additional fee I upgraded to a suite on the top floor and was allowed to check in without paying the early check in fee.

The room was impressive; spotlessly clean with all the amenities a traveller could need including iron, bathrobe, daily newspaper, fruit bowl etc. Comfortable bed with good-quality bedding. The bathroom was also very good. Only minor negative:there wasn't a big selection of English-language TV channels (just CNN and a few others) but not a big issue.

The staff were very efficient, especially the receptionist, Vicher, who was very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was fine - some reviews here have criticised the fact that there isn't much of a western selection, but I didn't find this to be the case at all - there was bread, fruit, bacon, sausages, hash browns, cereal etc.etc. It's true that there's more choice of Asian food, but then it IS Asia, as were the majority of the guests I saw. The breakfast cafe is very nice with a little garden too.

Location is convenient - 3 - 4 mins walk from Dongmen MRT station so very easy to get around the city. (the MRT is great) Plenty of places to eat nearby which is good as apart from breakfast the hotel doesn't serve any other food.

If you're watching the pennies do what I did and take the airport bus to main station and then get a taxi to the hotel. Very easy and cheap.

In summary, an excellent choice for medium-budget travellers with very comfortable, modern rooms, friendly staff and a central location. I'd definitely stay here again if back in Taipei.

We found the Royal Biz a clean and modern hotel with great accommodation an excellent staff. The room was nicely laid out, with a sitting/working area separated by sliding doors from the sleeping area. There was some clothes storage, but more drawers/shelves would have been nice. Additional handers would have been nice, too. We did enjoy having a mini fridge available. The safe was large enough for a 17-inch laptop, although we had trouble setting the combination on two occasions. The manager helped reset the safe the first time; we gave up trying after that.

The bathroom amenities were standard, with pluses for the scale. There was plenty of bottled drinking water freely available, restocked every day. The outlets in the room were 3-prong grounded US style, and much easier to access than a lot of American hotel rooms I've stayed in.

Breakfast was included in our room rate. While plentiful and of good quality, a majority of the fare was Asian, with nods to US and European customers. The exercise room (in the basement) is well featured for a hotel of this size. I used the ellipticals and bikes, each having a large, dedicated TV. I failed to turn up the rooms fan speed (controls are by the door) and later regretted it.

As for the environs, the recently opened Dongmen MRT subway station exits 1 and 2 are on the corner to the south. Trains are frequent and I found the system to be easy to navigate. There are plenty of retail shops and eateries within walking distance, including the original Din Tai Fung. (Definitely go to this restaurant...I have a review somewhere her in TA). There are two fairly close parks as well: the Da an Forest Park and the National Taiwan Democracy (Chiang Kai-shek) Memorial Hall.

We just returned from our 8 days Taiwan trip. We stayed in Royal Biz except one night in Sun Moon Lake.

Before our trip, we were quite concerned about the location because it seems the only negative issue in all the reviews. But when we arrived, thank God, with the opening of the Dongmen MRT station, the location is not an issue any more. It takes around 5 mins to arrive the MRT (Exit 1 and 2). Plus, Taipei MRT system is very convenient.

Chiang kai-shek memorial hall is in less than 10mins and President's office in another less than 10 mins. There is also post office, banks and two great steam boat restaurants, we enjoyed both.

You can take taxi to Shida Night Market, the damage is around NT85. You can take MRT to Jiantan station and Shilin Night Market is there.

All the staffs we have approached are friendly and helpful. We actually changed our trip plan a few times and they were always trying to help us. Great thanks to them.

The breakfast is good enough for a breakfast, plenty of choices and during the few days we stayed there, we found that the meals almost changed every day.

The room is clean and well-equipped. Maybe a small issue is that the aircon cannot set to silent mode and it's kind of noisy and even we turned off it, we still can hear a slight noise (we didn't figure out where it's from). But overall, we are more than satisfied, especially considering the price

Room Tip: If your bugget is allowed, trip the Suite room. Our last day was in Superior King Suite and it was n...

The staff in this hotel especially the manager are extremely helpful and take good care of all the guests. We thought it represented excellent value for money for a decent sized room which was a good standard. The breakfast was not to our taste but this did not affect our experience. We enjoyed the restaurants that you find on the hotel map if you turn left out of the hotel. The MRT is only 5 minutes walk away. Sadly though no room service.

My sister and I stayed here for the first and last three nights of our holiday in Taiwan. What a great place to stay. The actual hotel is gorgeous. The rooms have a separate "living" area so you can spread out a bit. The last three nights we spent there we asked for a room on the floorplan that ends with 03. This is a great room for people that want a quieter room as the other room we were in had very thin walls and I could hear the man next door speaking at 6 in the morning. ( I thought it was my sister talking in her sleep) The breakfast room was always a joy and I love all the pickled food they provided. Location was great and now a new station has just opened super close to the hotel so that will make it even easier to get around. WE used taxis a lot as they didn't cost much more than a train. Once again, the staff were incredible....all of them. Thanks you for making our stay so nice and helping us with all our plans.

We chose this hotel according to the comments we read about on Tripadvisor, and the result turned out to be more than right. Though it cost us 1200 TWD to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, we have to admit that the hotel has a convenient location. The hotel locates not far from the heart of the city. The Within ten minutes’ walk, locates the noted Wing Hong Street which is famous for all kinds of Taipei snacks, as well as the night market of National Taiwan Normal University. Steamed dumplings, noodles with beef, Taiwan fried chicken, Mango Ice Blended…as far as you are interested in Taiwan food, and you come to the right place. The MRT station is in the walk distance, too. But if you want to take a taxi, 200 TWD will be enough to take you to the memorial halls of Tsjang Kai-sjek and Sun Yat-sen, or the famous Taipei 101, around which are all kinds of fancy shopping malls, cinemas, pubs and nightclubs. And the hotel itself is very impressive. You can never call it fancy or luxurious from the outside. But as soon as you enter it, you will feel the warm and cozy atmosphere around here. They have many free tourist maps in many languages at the front desk. And the staffs are well trained and are always more than willing to help you. The guestroom and bath room are far above our expectation. The rooms are really large compared to other hotels we had stayed in Taiwan. So is the bath room. The breakfast is great as well. They have some choices. But since we came back from the pub around 4 am almost every night, I became the only one struggle up for breakfast. The hotel has a courtyard, tiny but cute. Sitting in it, to enjoy the sun and breakfast, enjoying the quietness of Taipei, will be a precious moment. We stayed there for the first 4 days and 3 nights in Taipei, and then, we were leaving for Kenting, Pingdong. But when we came back to Taipei, on the night before we flew back, we had chance to try another hotel, but we didn’t. Everyone knows why, I believe. A great hotel makes you feel at home, and always want to come back again.

I stayed here for a week in June for business based on TA reviews and was not disappointed. Modern, well furnished suite booked through the hotel's website at a price substantially below equivalent western hotels, including breakfast and internet. Helpful staff with good English skills. Excellent breakfast buffet with many choices of western and eastern foods with an omelet station in addition. Hotel will arrange for a car from the Taoyuan International Airport at a price similar to the cost of a taxi.

Location is outside of the business district but walking distance to some tourist sites and good restaurants. Metro, very user friendly with English signs and announcements, is a 10 minute walk but taxis are easy to flag, just make sure to have your destination written in Chinese as few drivers understand English.

Will definitely book again on next trip to Taipei.
