This hotel was friendly and the room was descent. It was near the metro and some great markets and shops near by. Breakfast was good. I would stay here again.

On our first trip to Taipei, my wife and I, who are both experienced international travelers, wanted a centrally located, comfortable hotel, with good staff with some English capability. This is it!

Highly recommended for budget minded people who still want good accommodations and service in an establishment where everything works. We do the luxury bit at resorts, etc, but if you're like us (we only sleep in the room) this hotel is a good pick and more since the rooms are well maintained, great flat screen TV (only one English channel though) and wireless internet. And the room was not the "prison cell" so common in overseas establishments: actually quite comfortable for 2 people, with nice furniture and fixtures and high quality mattress (a must!). Really, the rooms look just like their online pictures.

Their web site was a little cranky, so we completed the reservation by calling the front desk. Important: best rates are online and there's more than one site selling, so shop it a little before committing; then confirm with front desk. They're very nice so should not be a problem. And what a deal we got: a 12th floor "deluxe suite" (actually a larger room with bath that had a jacuzzi style tub) with wireless internet in the room and free internet access through computer on first floor.

Only a short walk to bus stop and two short blocks to central subway station. The included at no extra charge buffet breakfast featured eggs and meat every day, plus soup, several Chinese vegetable options and toast, bread, rice, coffee AND pretty good espresso, a rarity. As the selection doesn't change much, the nearby "morning market" featuring lots of street food and street merchants is a fun, inexpensive alternative. Since Taipei is "food crazy" there are many, many "real" restaurants all over town and this neighborhood as well.

Not located near any of the tourist sites, but those are easily accessible from bus or subway nearby. It's a "working class" neighborhood, but as safe as you will find in any big city and safer than many (we know: we've had our share of "incidents"). No noise problems at all and no unruly "night life." Anyway, there's a police station only two blocks away and a big hospital right across the street.

Hotel staff a little weak on English, but helpful in the extreme and always accommodating. A surprising extra: the room was always made up immediately after dropping our key at the front desk.

And the price for all that? Drum roll please: $60 US per night.
We will definitely stay again.

Room is very clean. Size is very decent. Location is very convenient. Just a 2-minute walk from Airport bus stop. Also a 2-3 minute walk to Taipei Metro Station. Breakfast area is a little too small and is pretty crowded in the morning. Free internet at hotel lobby (with printer), especially useful for online flight check-in.

Worth a note to those who are going to Taipei to take pre-wedding pictures. Hotel is within walking distance from some of the popular wedding service stores.

Good idea for non-smokers to ask for non-smoking room. The room we stayed at had strong odor from cigarettes.

I booked myself into this hotel through their website which offers a reasonable price for stay Feb3-6, 2007. I caught the Eva Air bus from Taoyuan International Airport which costed (if I remember correctly) NT$135 and this bus stops at less than 5 minutes walk to the hotel (the stop is called Shuang Lian).

What I love about this hotel is the extremely convenient location, it's 5 mintues away from the MRT station. The room is quite simple. I have the standard room and it's a bit small, but hey, all I do here is sleep. It's quite clean amd comfortable. The bathroom is also small. The bath tub is petite. The hotel provides complete necessities like shampoo, shower cap, shower gel, toothbrush & tooth paste, razor, bath salt etc etc etc.

I recomment you to skip the breakfast and get your feed elsewhere. They provide very simple breakfast, but there are plenty of convenience store and cafes. Opposite the hotel, you could find Starbucks.

The hotel personel were okay, they weren't too enthusiastic but I like it this way. :)

My friend and I booked directly with the hotel through its website. We stayed here in Feb 2006 for 5 nights and slept well every night. We paid less than 2000TWD per night for a deluxe double room. The room actually looked more expensive than that. It was tastefully decorated with throw pillows, sheer curtains and neutral shades. The room was cosy and clean, including the carpet and bathroom. We had 2 free bottles of water in the fridge everyday. The bathroom was also stocked up with free toiletries, including shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and some other knick knacks that I can't remember. Each item was replaced the following day if used - how wonderful. Also, we would find a free copy of a different type of newspaper hanging at our door each morning. The bathroom also had a variety of fresh towels every day.

The room rate includes buffet breakfast every morning. The breakfast spread is modest but quite delicious. It features Chinese and Western food, including congee with salted fish, stir fried vegetables and some other stuff I can't remember. There is also ham or sausages, eggs and toast.

The location is great. It is really only about 2 minutes' walk from Shuanglian station, which is a couple of stops from Taipei main station. There is a bus stop a few steps from the hotel from where you can take the express bus to the airport.

My friend and I speak Chinese so I'm not sure whether all the staff can speak English. But there was definitely one guy who could speak some English, because he insisted on speaking it with us! Methinks he was using us to practise it!

We had a splendid experience here until the very last day. The reception staff has been most courteous and accomodating up until the day we were about to leave. Our flight was in the late afternoon, and we wanted to leave our luggage in the hotel, so that we could do a few hours' of sightseeing, then come back and collect the luggage and check out. However, the staff refused to safekeep our luggage in a proper room. The best they offered was for the luggage to be left at the passageway in front of the reception table which was an exposed public area. The receptionists claimed that the luggage would be safe there, and that they would keep an eye on them, but we doubted the security. So they suggested that we rent the room on a per hour basis at 200TWD per hour. We thought it was awfully calculative of them to charge us for 3 paltry hours when we stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. This left a sour taste, but I decided to leave this glowing review because it really is a great hotel choice otherwise - just make sure you don't have 5 days' worth of shopping in your luggage that you need them to hold.
